Prayer Requests 3-8-22

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 44

We have heard it with our ears, O God;
    our ancestors have told us
  what you did in their days,
    in days long ago.
With your hand you drove out the nations
    and planted our ancestors;
   you crushed the peoples
    and made our ancestors flourish.
It was not by their sword that they won the land,
    nor did their arm bring them victory;
   it was your right hand, your arm,
    and the light of your face, for you loved them.

You are my King and my God,
    who decrees victories for Jacob.
Through you we push back our enemies;
    through your name we trample our foes.
I put no trust in my bow,
    my sword does not bring me victory;
but you give us victory over our enemies,
    you put our adversaries to shame.
In God we make our boast all day long,
    and we will praise your name forever.

But now you have rejected and humbled us;
    you no longer go out with our armies.
10 You made us retreat before the enemy,
    and our adversaries have plundered us.
11 You gave us up to be devoured like sheep
    and have scattered us among the nations.
12 You sold your people for a pittance,
    gaining nothing from their sale.

13 You have made us a reproach to our neighbors,
    the scorn and derision of those around us.
14 You have made us a byword among the nations;
    the peoples shake their heads at us.
15 I live in disgrace all day long,
    and my face is covered with shame
16 at the taunts of those who reproach and revile me,
    because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.

17 All this came upon us,
    though we had not forgotten you;
    we had not been false to your covenant.
18 Our hearts had not turned back;
    our feet had not strayed from your path.
19 But you crushed us and made us a haunt for jackals;
    you covered us over with deep darkness.

20 If we had forgotten the name of our God
    or spread out our hands to a foreign god,
21 would not God have discovered it,
    since he knows the secrets of the heart?
22 Yet for your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.

23 Awake, Lord! Why do you sleep?
    Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever.
24 Why do you hide your face
    and forget our misery and oppression?

25 We are brought down to the dust;
    our bodies cling to the ground.
26 Rise up and help us;
    rescue us because of your unfailing love.

  1. Praying for Chas and family.

    My friend, J, continues to deal with the loss of her husband. Forty three is young to die, thirty four is young to be left behind. The memorial is this Saturday. Cremation was supposed to be earlier but the in laws wanted an autopsy and she is not in the loop because she is not biological. So she does not know the time schedule for that which adds to her challenges. Prayer that she will learn to lean on God.

  2. I don’t understand her not being in the loop. She is his wife. Doesn’t the law consider her closer than anyone else?
    Anyway, prayers. With all the surgeries my husband has had it is never far from my mind and we always have “the discussion”. My instructions are to give it a week if anything goes wrong then disconnect everything. I have told him his children have had him longer than I have (which is what my own stepmother told me—I try to be as good to his children as Regina has been to me), I won’t make a decision without them but I will sign whatever needs to be signed so that they don’t have to.
    By the way, he is having surgery on the 23rd.

  3. I was thinking the same thing, Kim. It is not unusual to have an autopsy if someone is young and dies, but I would think the spouse would be the first decision maker about that, unless law enforcement insists for some reason. It is so sad for those left behind.

  4. Kim, she was getting a lot of disturbance from that angle. To date, they have never acknowledged the death of her husband, only the death of their son. I advised her to go with cremation if that was what she thought he wanted though they wanted a burial. I also advised, if they wanted an autopsy (which they did) they could pay for it and it was okay. Neither she nor the legal required one. I did suggest it might be good for his son, in future, to know what he actually died from for medical reasons.

    She does have a lot of support. From me from her job and from her previous job. And her mom has been with her though had to go back to work for a few days. And she is doing well. But still, it is difficult. Prayer. She needs to know God and to be known by Him.

  5. Sad all around Mumsee. I secretly think that Mr P’s children are relieved I am around. If I have any trouble from them it will be from the oldest.

  6. I thought autopsies were mandatory for death certificate information on cause of death if the person hadn’t been to a doctor within a particular time period? I’m assuming he died unexpectedly being so young, but maybe not.

  7. DJ, he had returned from a hospital stay for pneumonia. Was on O2 at home for it. Seeing docs on a nearly daily basis the last few days for testing.

  8. Ah, ok, that makes sense then; cause of death was a known factor in that case. I’m so sorry, sounds like it was a tough road for all concerned.

  9. Piano lesson with new student went well. She’s in high school and is articulate about her musical interests and goals, and is good at self-assessment of which concepts she needs more knowledge. I think things are going to go well. Thanks for praying.
