  1. Sometimes adoption can be very challenging. But then I remember that I am adopted by God and the challenges I must continually present to Him. It is all good. Still hard.

  2. As I reminded a friend of mine long ago, who adopted two toddlers from Romania born under the Ceaușescu regime, “If you hadn’t taken them, they would have had no life at all. With you and the rest of your family, your son in particular, knows what it is to be loved and cared for.”

He had severe detachment disorder; the girl was better. She desperately wanted to send him back but her older children asked, “But who would love him?”

I think he’s graduated from college now–always a handful, but always loved.

Even more is true of you and Mike. You not only loved them, gave them a place to live, cared for them, and prayed with them–not to mention introducing them to Jesus–but you gave them a work ethic which has served all of them well.

No matter what they chose to do with it.

I know you weren’t looking for sympathy, but know you and Mike are honored.
