Prayer Requests 12-16-21

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Also, if you would be so kind, my brother Warren, Miguel, and Amelia.

Psalm 128

A song of ascents.

Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
    who walk in obedience to him.
You will eat the fruit of your labor;
    blessings and prosperity will be yours.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
    within your house;
   your children will be like olive shoots
    around your table.
Yes, this will be the blessing
    for the man who fears the Lord.

May the Lord bless you from Zion;
    may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
    all the days of your life.
May you live to see your children’s children—
    peace be on Israel.

  1. I was so sad to hear your sad news, Aj. Prayers for all, and for you in your grief.

    Our daughter is driving from TN to northern MN since the middle of last night. So far, so good. All prayers appreciated for them, as well.

  2. Please pray that we will hear something from Chickadee today. Tomorrow is the day that we are supposed to get together for lunch (at her own suggestion, and she picked the day, too). But we haven’t heard from her about where she wants to go (to a restaurant or here) or what time she would like to be picked up.

    I am trying to not lose hope, as I have realized that often she doesn’t respond to a text in a timely manner. But it’s at the time when we should be clarifying our plans, so I am a little nervous that she may want to back out. Please pray that even if she is nervous, she will follow through with getting together with us.

    Also, please pray that she will be with us for our Christmas celebration next week. Thank you and God bless.

  3. Btw, I just want to say that I am aware of some others of us who have estrangements with grown children, and I keep those relationships in my prayers as well.

  4. Apparently, twenty has purchased a pet parakeet. Without the landlady’s approval after being told no pets by us and the landlady. We think she is hiding it in her room. No sign of a cage or any such. But she was taking it with her to her lawyer’s office. So the poor baby bird is being taken out in the weather and in all sorts of different temperatures. The lady wants it out. I am snowed in. Wisdom.

  5. Praying, Kathaleena, Mumsee, and Kizzie.

    Updates:

    Health: Third Arrow is well today, and has returned to work. Thank you for praying.

    Storms: We had a lot of twigs and smallish branches strewn across our driveway and yard last night, but no damage to anything on our property. Branches of various sizes, including larger ones, were downed in the woods of our next-door neighbors’ farm.

    My parents, at their assisted-living place, along with the other residents, were evacuated from their rooms last night to the dining room (near the center of the building) due to 80mph winds. They are all ok.

    I am really glad my parents are there instead of still living at home. Last night an electric pole near the road that runs past their house tipped, ripping the electrical line out of their house. My sister-in-law took pictures of the damage; the siding on Mom & Dad’s house is blackened where the line tore out. It’s fortunate the house didn’t catch on fire. I don’t think my parents would have survived such an event if they had been living there and the house had started on fire.

    Thankful once again for God’s hand of protection on my nuclear and extended family, and grateful for your prayers.

    A prayer request for today: I don’t know if the slightly on-edge feeling I’m experiencing today is due to everything with the storms last night and 3rd Arrow’s urgent care visit — not to mention the feeling following an unsettling dream about an ambulance delivering my husband to our house, while he appeared to be in a psychotic state, and dropping him off without telling me how I was supposed to care for him…

    …but, anyway, I sort of have a jittery feeling about meeting a new piano family today for a trial lesson. It’s rather a sticky situation in that they’re an established studio family, having studied with a colleague of mine for a number of years, but they want a change, and so are doing a meet-and-greet / trial lesson with me to see if they want to go forward with lessons with me. They will have to walk right past their previous teacher’s room to get to mine, right next door.

    I’ve been in email communication with the mom and one of the studio co-owners, and the conversations have gone quite well, so I don’t know why I have a sense of apprehension today, but prayers would be great. Thanks so much.

  6. I finally got to speak with my brother this morning.

    It was heart breaking to say the least. He has a concussion and stitches in multiple places on his head, face, and body. But the worst injury is his heart. He’s crushed. He remembers fading in and out of consciousness but told me he knew when he woke up at the hospital that she was gone. In fact, he says he knew even while still trapped in the vehicle.

    We talked about PTSD, that he wasn’t at fault at all, but that this would take time, probably counseling, and even medication if necessary to get him and Miguel thru this trauma. I know from experience that some of the worst of this is how all you want to do is forget it, but you’ll have to relive it over and over, to the police, in depositions, lawsuits, testimony, over and over. This is sadly how it goes. My brother and I talked about that, I warned him of it so he won’t be surprised. With the right help he and Miguel can get thru this, and I plan on helping where I can. We weren’t close, he’s the loner type, except for his daughters and grand kids. But that needs to change now.

  7. AJ – I am praying for their salvation as well as healing and such. May God open their eyes and hearts to Jesus, and heal their bodies and their hearts.

    *******
    Well, I finally got a text from Chickadee. She says that she is “really not doing well”, and so cannot come tomorrow. She added that she is working on an email to me to explain what has been going on. I am thankful for that, but my heart is hurting so bad. (I broke out in wailing sobs upon reading her text.) Now I am almost convinced that I won’t see her for Christmas. 😦

    Please pray for her in general – mostly for the Holy Spirit to draw her to salvation in Jesus, but also for a healing breakthrough emotionally and mentally. And please pray that if she is tempted to not come for Christmas (which is highly likely to probable), that Mrs. McK will have pity on a fellow mother and greatly encourage her to join us.

    (I wanted to say that she would “insist” that Chickadee come for Christmas, but that might be too strong a word.)

  8. Even from a far distance, still processing such a tragedy, AJ.🙏Words are unavailable to cover the needs fully in prayer. You did good, AJ, in telling him whay you did.

    Prayers for Kizzie, too, in her different kind of heartbreak.

  9. Peace be with you, Kizzie.

    AJ, I’m glad you got to speak with your brother. Continued prayers for the long journey ahead as you all grieve.

    Trial lesson / meet-and-greet went well. We’re starting in January, and the youngest daughter even brought me a Christmas gift! 🙂

    Thanks again for the variety of prayers you’ve offered up lately on my and my family’s behalf.

  10. Quick update.

    Miguel had a second surgery on the other hip late this afternoon. My brother was waiting for discharge and my sisters were taking him to my dad’s.

    I plan to head to dad’s in the morning.

  11. Here’s a little good news, about those formerly conjoined twins. They had had some troubles – one had an unexplained fever, and pain was breaking through the meds – but today looks better.

    “We are incredibly thankful to report that today was a good day! Susannah has not had any fever and her skin is looking better. There is one place they are watching but no one is overly concerned about it. She has also found a much improved “sweet spot” with her pain medication today and has not been nearly as bothered.

    Elizabeth is doing great weaning off medications and respiratory support! But the best part…we got to hold them!! We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time and it was the sweetest. It literally brought us to tears being able to hold each individual girl for the first time in their almost 8 months of life. What a huge reminder and picture of how God has cared for us over these many long months. 💕💕

    If we’ve learned anything it’s that things can change quickly in the NICU but today we are celebrating a good day and praying God would continue to give us more of the same. We are so thankful and in awe of the number of you holding up our family in prayer. Words can’t capture our gratefulness for holding the line with us.”
