Anyone have something to share?
Psalm 118
1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
2 Let Israel say:
“His love endures forever.”
3 Let the house of Aaron say:
“His love endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the Lord say:
“His love endures forever.”
5 When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord;
he brought me into a spacious place.
6 The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
I look in triumph on my enemies.
8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in humans.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to trust in princes.
10 All the nations surrounded me,
but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
11 They surrounded me on every side,
but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
12 They swarmed around me like bees,
but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns;
in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
13 I was pushed back and about to fall,
but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.
15 Shouts of joy and victory
resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!
16 The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
17 I will not die but live,
and will proclaim what the Lord has done.
18 The Lord has chastened me severely,
but he has not given me over to death.
19 Open for me the gates of the righteous;
I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord
through which the righteous may enter.
21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
you have become my salvation.
22 The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
23 the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.
25 Lord, save us!
Lord, grant us success!
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
From the house of the Lord we bless you.
27 The Lord is God,
and he has made his light shine on us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up to the horns of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise you;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
I’m now retired from playing basketball.
Slept 10 hours last night, mostly, and my head feels fuzzy this morning.
Please pray I can get into the dentist today. They open in 40 minutes and I’ll start pleading my case.
Everytime I laugh or smile, too, my chin moves and the stitches aren’t happy.
Sigh. Two Zoom meetings today and I don’t want to think about how crazy tomorrow is. I had to add lists on post-it notes of planned activities to the calendar!

Praying for you, Michelle.
Also praying for Debra and C as God continues to work in them. May they see His Hand in their lives and grow in love one for the other.

Oh–this is what happened:
So, I tried to steal the basketball from a teenager while walking alone three blocks from home. yesterday afternoon. I was headed downhill.
As I veered to the left for the ball, my foot slipped, and I went head down onto the pavement–lifting my head in time to take the fall, literally, on the chin.
Blood everywhere, shocked teenager, concerned drivers stopping to check what happened, and I spit out two large chunks of tooth.
8 stitches later, I left the ER without a CT scan of my jaw–and I’ll be seeing the dentist today as soon as I can get in. It’s my teeth–several–that are my major concern.

Also praying for our community as VBS starts today. Please join me in prayer for my children, who will be helping. Particularly that boy won’t steal anything and if he does, he gets caught immediately. May God open their eyes to Himself.

Sounds awful, Michelle. 😦 I was so tempted this weekend to get up on the trampoline with my youngest granddaughters. However, they were getting on it by standing first on a rocking horse and I came to the conclusion that it would be a very bad move on my part to be doing that. Plus, that would probably have been the end of the poor rocking horse. Yes, Michelle, being a senior citizen has its challenges. Prayers.

Oh, Michelle, it sounds so dreadful and shocking. Did your body go into shock? It just seems like everything that happens is so much worse these days. We are praying for someone in an accident involving a batting cage. A smashed eye and 22 stitches.
Prayers over the teeth and the whole healing process for that mishap.

Ouch, michelle. Prayers that the soreness is just that (and just temporary) and that the teeth with breaks can be fixed easily.

The prayer request based on the church service link from yesterday is in regards to the family at church I mentioned before which has a family member by marriage who went off his meds, shot his mother in the face (hospitalized), and killed his grandmother, put her in a plastic bag, and put her her in a garbage can which the police located. There was a car chase involved, the pit maneuver caused the suspect to land in a ditch. He shot a trooper in the arm and then he was shot and killed. This was what our sweet black family in our church has suffered this past week. The pastor called them up front for a special prayer and laying on of hands. Of course, this adds to the number of black men shot and killed by the police. I did not want to write the details because they are so horrid, and I would not mention this except that the testimony was live on Facebook for everyone to know. Please pray for my Brother and Sister in Christ (M & J) who are heart sickened over this terrible situation. I am so sad over it all myself.

Prayers for J from our church who goes in today to begin some radiation on her back where one of the tumors has lodged. Still awaiting more info from biopsies to see what treatment options might be.

Friend here in town told me he was surfing as a kid when he ‘wiped out’ and found himself spitting out sand once he was onshore. Turned out it wasn’t sand at all, but pieces of numerous broken teeth. He’d been hit by his own surfboard after going down. His dad had some serious dental bills to pay.

Michelle, you were walking alone three blocks from home when you tried to steal a basketball from a teenager. Was it anyone you knew, or were you just being playful with a stranger? It makes me laugh and cry and pray at the same time!

Playful with a teenager whom I didn’t know. He was very shocked, but also very kind to call my husband in to save me.
Poor kid, he’s just shooting baskets, goes to retrieve the ball, and some old lady comes out of nowhere, misses the ball, slides down to his feet, starts bleeding everywhere, and he’s simply stunned.
My phone survived fine (thanks to my nephew’s company’s case–I’ll have to let him know I’m a satisfied customer), so I punched in my home phone number and asked him to call my husband.
Meanwhile, a car stops, an aghast man jumps out and hands me a bunch of napkins–since my chin is spurting blood everywhere–two more cars stop, everyone volunteering to drive me home, and then dad comes out to find out what happened.
I’m laughing in an attempt not to cry, and eventually my husband shows us with our EMT in tow. She takes one look and says, “Stitches. You’re going in.”
So off I went.
Good news is the dentist isn’t worried about the tooth that got chipped. More concerned about the loose tooth which he’s hoping to save. I’m getting a crown there and possibly one on the chipped tooth.
After xrays and while waiting for the work to be done, I cried a little more from the trauma and then wondered how to go through this without any emotional issues later down the line.
I’m focusing on the many things I’m thankful for–and I feel a little better. Now to work.
Thanks for your prayers.

Oh michelle, trying not to laugh too hard — you and a host of onlookers could wind up in therapy for the blood and trauma alone.
Praying for that loose tooth and that the chin heels up nicely. Is it all bandaged up?

Oh ouch, Michelle! Ouchie ouch! Praying.
Could you all say a quick prayer for one of my students who is at the ER right now? S fainted this morning (not at her lesson) and her legs have been unstable all day, her mom reports.
Thanks so much.

Michelle – Choosing to be thankful is a wonderful response, but also let yourself feel and deal with the trauma, too. It is a natural reaction to things like that, and I imagine it is healthy to let oneself feel the trauma rather than ignore it. (But I assume you know this anyway. 🙂 )

Falling gets scarier the older we get, as Chas often reminds us. Fall when you’re 20 and you jump right up. Fall when you’re (fill in the older age blank of your choice) and you’re off to the ER.
It all does make one a bit more cautious and aware of surroundings and their potential pitfalls.

I am trying to wear heavier sturdy shoes these days. I read that can help older people to have better balance. My knee seems healed up now, but each time we have an injury we are reminded how easily they happen. My mother was on a walkway outside of her small country church and fell over into a bush by the walkway and broke her hip. They were able to repair her hip, but the repair gave way at some point and she eventually was in a wheelchair.

S is back home after a 3-hour stay at Urgent Care (my mistake when I wrote ER above). She is exhausted and, needless to say, won’t be attending her lesson tonight. Pray she’ll get good rest this night. Thanks so much. She is such a sweet, soft-spoken teen, and my heart goes out to her. It means a lot to me that you are praying for her.

J today had severe pain but also numerous dr appts so hopefully that cause was pinpointed and can be resolved. She also was having an MRI of the brain, which doesn’t sound good.

Pray also for our company, much division and forcing of “picking sides” is going on with regard to the union issue. It could get ugly.
