Prayer Requests 2-18-21

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 13

A psalm of David.

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.

  1. From our Gambian correspondent:

Recently someone asked me what method I found to be most effective in sharing the gospel here.
That’s the method. Having conversations with people and jumping in with a teaching from the Bible anytime the opportunity presents itself.

The other day I shared most of the story of Job with a very devout Muslim lady who told me a couple years ago to stop talking to her about Jesus because Islam is her choice. She didn’t visit me for a long time, but recently she has come by again.

I just eased back and let her get comfortable with me again, but when I shared from Scripture the other day she was all ears. Of course, Job isn’t threatening teaching to a Muslim.

My motto is teach what you can, when you can. Don’t push. When someone is ready to
hear, it’s obvious. Pray for HD and others like her who are convinced that they
are pleasing God by being faithful to Islam.

  2. Mumsee, is the “eighth grandchild” you mentioned yesterday the little twin boy? I may have missed something but I thought he was doing pretty well. What were they doing before that will stop with “comfort care”?

  3. Little brother, as daughter is not talking to me right now, I don’t actually know. For sure a do not resuscitate order. Perhaps discontinue therapies. The cyst in his brain has grown quite a bit and his brain is deteriorating. Or so they think from the MRI or whatever. But they cannot really assess the difference in damaged and not damaged, it is a guess. To which I say: continue playing with him and stimulating him and talking with him. It sounds more like he is just lying there waiting to die. But I don’t know. Mine is also an educated guess based on what we have seen. Little boy loves people, interacting, being talked to, talking back….They will be putting in a feeding tube, which does not make sense with comfort care but what do I know? Well, I know God and I know He loves little boy more than I do. And He can fix it the best way.

  4. On the same day, I not only pulled an all-nighter (awake till after 7:00) and slept till noon. I’m pretty sure I’ve never done the latter in my life unless I was sick. But somehow it hardly seems to count as sleeping in. My third night this week to get four or fewer hours of sleep.

My heart is heavy because people in my family are being hurt by sin and discord that those who could have addressed chose not to.

  5. Well, a lie has been exposed as a lie . . . please pray that it will be enough to make the difference for the person who has believed a bunch of lies and thus was not in a place to be willing and able to believe the truth. It could make a difference in quite a few people’s lives.

  6. Ann says they are doing fine. They only lost power for about three hours, and they still have water, although they have to boil it. But of course, she is concerned about all those who are seriously suffering.
