It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.
Anyone else?
Psalm 146
1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord, my soul.
2 I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
5 Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
6 He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
he remains faithful forever.
7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
8 the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
10 The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.
Praise the Lord.
Prayer that we would know God and be known by Him. That our speech would reflect that.

You will remember the V family . . . 93 year-old Father went in for an EKG on Tuesday and is still in the hospital. He’s not eating or drinking.
The stress on all is palpable, but the mercy is Son V is in town for two weeks and he is handling things while the Vs go to work.
Lord have mercy; so many trials for so many people I love.

Thanks be to God, after 18 months of interviewing and deliberating, our church will issue a call to a new pastor on Sunday.
He is raring to come. (He lives in California; he understands).
Our current pastor, who has been here nearly 40 years, really needs to retire.

Prayers for my neighbor who heads off this afternoon with her daughter-in-law for her Covid vaccine. Unfortunately, it’s a ‘walk-up’ site which often entails long hours of standing in line. She’s bringing a portable seat — it’s also supposed to start raining later this afternoon. She’s very stressed, said she can “feel” her blood pressure shooting up.
Pray that some new, more flexible/efficient plans can be put in place to schedule and administer so many shots (which I understand is a major challenge, logistically). But the current disjointed “system” in our county is very awkward and not working very well. The state may take over all of it, but not so sure that makes it any better.
Part of the concern is that the more virulent South Africa strain now is appearing in the U.S. which is more resistant to this particular vaccine and may need a booster of some kind — but the more folks who can be vaccinated quickly now, the less likely that strain can get a solid foothold here. Or so the theory goes.

Please pray for Coach’s salvation, and that of his children (they are teenagers) and other family.
Nightingale is not yet considering him her boyfriend, but they have been dating regularly, and they get along very well. It’s probably too soon to think that “this may be the one”, but whether he is or isn’t, he and his family need salvation. (And of course, so do Nightingale, Boy, and Chickadee.) Thank you.

Something poignant about Coach: He bought the house that his family lived in before his parents divorced because it reminds him of happier times in the family.
