Anyone have something to share?
Matthew 1:18-25
Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son
18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

I answered that on the Daily Thread, as I thought the details more appropriate for there.
I also mentioned getting caught in a traffic last night on the way home. There was a terrible accident on I-10 Eastbound. An 18 wheeler seemed to be involved and several other cars. A white pickup truck was crushed and the top was cut off. Someone is either dead or seriously injured.
What a horrible thing to happen during the holidays.

I was out for a walk on the trail this morning. A woman came along and asked cheerfully, “Enjoying nature?” I said yes and asked if she was enjoying her walk. She said not really. Her marriage of 23 years just ended, and her husband walked out with both cars, emptying savings, etc. She woke up this morning to find out he’d even turned off the electricity.
I asked if I could pray for her, and immediately she said yes. I prayed, not knowing if she’s a believer, and at one point I said, “Father, I don’t know what more to say” and she said, “Jesus, all I have is you. Thank You for reminding me of that, in Jesus’ name, amen.” She had big tears rolling down her face, and she thanked me and walked away. I wanted to hug her, but she too was keeping her distance. Her name is Cicely. God knows the details beyond that. I told her I would continue praying for her.

From my hometown/home church pastor. (I played volleyball with his parents and his wife’s parents when I was in high school!) DJ knows him, too.
Nathan:
Will you pray for me?
The block around our church has become a place where many taxi drivers come and wait (and wait and wait) for their next job. They are really struggling in this environment. They come from quite a few different nations.
The Lord has cracked open a door with a friendly driver named Joseph. I believe he might be a person of peace. The Trinity Mission Endowment granted me a small grant to buy some gift certificates from Shin Shin Chinese, Perozzi’s Deli, and Polly Ann Bakery all [a block away].
I plan to deliver them tomorrow morning along with a card that shares the gospel’s simple “welcome home” message.
I hope it communicates in word, deed, and image the welcome of our liberally gracious God in Jesus Christ.

Lord, I lift up this special delivery to You for ease in delivery, for a good situation for the mom and the babies. Please let all go according to plans and may all the blessings of healthy babies and mom be realized. Please go ahead of them all and prepare a good way as You are known to do. May all Your good plans for these little ones work out as they each in Your timing and way believe on Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Bless Kare and her husband and other grandparents with this unique Christmas joy♡ I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

Little guy has been trying some solids here. They told me last time he was up that he could try to have a bit but they have not succeeded in getting him to swallow anything and aspiration is a real concern. So far he has enjoyed applesauce and greek yogurt. Very small amounts. Prayer for wisdom to not exceed his abilities.

Pray for our grocery store workers who are getting hit with this virus and are very short-handed. I waited an hour for a scheduled grocery pickup tonight, finally called in to let them know I’d have to pick it up later (he said they “had a lot on their plate) and my order hadn’t even been put together yet).
Another woman in the car next to me had been waiting nearly as long, she had the most wonderful Irish brogue.

Meanwhile, the young woman who answered phones and was the “face” of the PCUSA church here in town has died of Covid.
