  1. The FBI finally admits the obvious.

“FBI director admits: Yes, surveillance of Carter Page was illegal”

FBI Director Christopher Wray agreed that the Justice Department and the FBI illegally surveilled Carter Page when they used British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s unverified dossier to obtain four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants against the Trump campaign associate.

Wray made the claim during congressional testimony before the Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee earlier this week, as Republicans pressed him for answers about the bureau’s response to the Justice Department watchdog’s FISA abuse report.

The report by Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded that the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation was flawed, and he criticized the DOJ and the FBI for 17 “significant errors and omissions” related to secret surveillance court filings targeting Page. The filings made use of the dossier compiled by Steele, who’d been hired by Fusion GPS, which in turn was hired by the Hillary Clinton campaign through the Perkins Coie law firm.

Under questioning from Republican Rep. John Ratcliffe of Texas, Wray, who deflected many questions by referring lawmakers back to Horowitz’s report, agreed that Page was surveilled illegally.

“The report acknowledges that … this was illegal surveillance with respect to at least several of these FISA applications, because there was not probable cause or proper predication, correct?” Ratcliffe asked.

    “Right,” Wray replied.”

    Further vindication for Trump.

  2. Looks like Bloomberg just got another celebrity endorsement.

  3. Oh they failed a lot more questions than just this one, but this one is very telling.

“Democrats failed the debate question on Qassem Soleimani”

“At the New Hampshire 2020 Democratic presidential primary debate on Friday, Democrats failed when questioned on whether they would have authorized the U.S. military strike which killed Qassem Soleimani.

Soleimani, commander of the covert action arm of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in a January U.S. drone strike in Baghdad. President Trump authorized that strike in response to Soleimani’s effort to organize attacks on U.S. interests in Iraq and the broader Middle East, and in the context of the Iranian general’s historic role in killing hundreds of U.S. soldiers during the Iraq War.

But as I say, Democrats were unconvincing.”

  4. I see where Trump has fired some of the WH people who testified against him in the trials.
Seems harsh. But I understand. Trump knows he is a never ending battle.
You don’t want the enemy anywhere nearby when you are doing business.

I never saw it, but I think Trump was on a TV show where he fired people.

  5. I’d heard one of them may actually have resigned — but either way, it makes sense if someone on your staff testifies against you and it’s best for both sides to part ways after that. I’m not sure why there’s all this ruckus over something that should have been so expected in the aftermath of all this.

  6. Because DJ,

Firing them for cause, as Trump has done, shows the fault lies with the fired. That muddies up Dems star witnesses, and they can’t have that.

Neither resigned either. Sondland was recalled from his post and fired. That’s the procedure, recall, fire when the ambassador returns.

The Vindictive Vindman brothers were reassigned 6 months before their current positions were to end. While not technically a firing, because they’re still active duty military they can’t be, it amounts to the same. They will be reassigned to dead end positions until they leave on their own or are discarded by the military. There’s certainly a case to be made for removal on numerous grounds.

    But none of them resigned.

  7. WSJ editorial:

    Bernie Sanders Makes His Charge

Republicans say he can’t win. That’s what Hillary Clinton said about Donald Trump.

… The risk for his supporters and the Democratic Party is that Bernie’s platform is the most explicitly left-wing since at least Henry Wallace in 1948. He wants to nationalize health insurance, eliminating 170 million private policies. He wants a $16.3 trillion Green New Deal and a $2.5 trillion housing plan, to include national rent control. He wants to cancel $1.6 trillion in student debt and ban fracking. He wants a “wealth tax” on individual net worth, with rates up to 8% a year. He wants a federal law saying workers can’t be fired without “just cause.”

All of this is no longer disqualifying in a Democratic primary because the party took a sharp left turn during the Obama years and has kept driving. Mr. Sanders’s backers also remember being scolded to rally behind the “electable” Hillary Clinton. Now that pitch has less salience for Mr. Biden. Progressives think Mr. Trump’s personal unpopularity offers a unique chance to win the White House with an agenda that yanks the country to the left. …

… Republicans will be tempted to cheer, thinking Mr. Trump would trounce Mr. Sanders. Some GOP officials in South Carolina, the Charleston Post and Courier reports, plan to urge Republicans to vote for Bernie in the state’s open primary. This is playing with fire.

Mr. Sanders is beating Mr. Trump in most head-to-head polls in key states, and simply labeling him a socialist won’t be enough. In this politically volatile age, the impossible can soon become inevitable. Ask the Democrats who rejoiced when the GOP nominated Mr. Trump.

  8. “Mr. Sanders is beating Mr. Trump in most head-to-head polls in key states,”

Yeah, yeah, and Clinton by a double digit landslide, she’ll win 35 states….. blah, blah, bah…..

    How’d that turn out?

  9. Forecasting elections is a tricky business, AJ. Things change fast and the political climate now is particularly unpredictable. Just wise to remember that … I’ve given up going out on those limbs 🙂

  10. Whistling past the graveyard.

But you know who is motivated? The party supporting Trump. We saw what you clowns have been doing, and we can’t wait to vote against you for it. 🙂

  11. Yeah you are. 🙂

“Clinton Adviser James Carville Panicked Over 2020 Democrats: “We’re losing our damn minds”

“We’re like talking about people voting from jail cells”

“Douglas Ernst reported at the Washington Times:

James Carville: Dems risk becoming an ‘ideological cult,’ media filled with ‘AOC crazy’ reporters

James Carville said the Democratic Party has a stark choice before it: “Do we want to be an ideological cult? Or do we want to have a majoritarian instinct to be a majority party?”

One of former President Bill Clinton’s famous “War Room” political strategists told MSNBC this week that his party — and much of the media — is flirting with disaster if it continues to go “AOC crazy.”

“This party needs to wake up and make sure that we talk about things are relevant to people,” he said Tuesday. “We need to go back to 2018 where we had good, diverse, strong candidates that had real connections to the community and talked about real things.”

“We’re like talking about people voting from jail cells,” he said. “We’re talking about not having a border. I mean, come on, people. Everyday people are out there struggling. We’re trying to get votes in Northern Wisconsin and Western Pennsylvania.””

“Carville continued this line of thinking in an interview with Sean Illing of VOX:

“We’re losing our damn minds”: James Carville unloads on the Democratic Party

    Sean Illing

Why are you “scared to death” about the 2020 election?

    James Carville

Look, the turnout in the Iowa caucus was below what we expected, what we wanted. Trump’s approval rating is probably as high as it’s been. This is very bad. And now it appears the party can’t even count votes. What the hell am I supposed to think?

I’ll just say it this way: The fate of the world depends on the Democrats getting their shit together and winning in November. We have to beat Trump. And so far, I don’t like what I see. And a lot of people I talk to feel the same way…”

  12. So how are Dems dealing with their super, no good, really bad week?

    In a word…… Badly. 🙂

“Democrats Seek to Redefine the Word ‘Acquitted’ in the Aftermath of Trump’s Acquittal

Democrats are trying to regain control of the narrative on President Trump’s acquittal as the 2020 presidential election campaign season heats up.”

“In the end, Trump prevailed, and the Democrats who pushed for his impeachment since day one of his presidency failed in predictable but spectacular fashion.

Since that time, however, House and Senate Democrats have been in denial about the outcome. Trump taking victory laps the next day further enraged them.

So they’re out for blood. One way they think they’ll get it is by redefining the word “acquitted” (which was splashed on the top fold of newspapers around the country Thursday) as if in doing so they can credibly claim that Trump’s acquittal was illegitimate.”

“One notable example of this way of thinking is Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), who on Thursday appeared on CNN to discuss Senate proceedings and where Democrats go from here. During the segment with anchor Wolf Blitzer, Hirono referred to Trump’s acquittal as something that happened during a “rigged trial” and because of that, the acquittal was not legitimate.

Her remarks were so off the wall that even Blitzer wouldn’t let her off the hook for them:

“The Senate has clearly spoken now. The president was acquitted,” CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer said.

“No, Wolf. He wasn’t acquitted. It was a rigged trial,” Hirono interrupted. “You don’t get acquitted when you don’t even get to call witnesses or relevant witnesses or have the documents because the president stonewalled all efforts on behalf of the House to get the information they requested. So there you go! It was a rigged trial.”

She continued, “[Trump] can go run around saying he was acquitted, but you don’t get acquitted in a rigged trial.”

Blizter pushed back, but Hirono doubled down:

“There was a roll call, guilty or not guilty, not guilty was the majority,” Blitzer told Hiromo. “And the Chief Justice of the United States announced that he was acquitted, that he was not guilty.”

“But the American public knows that it was a rigged trial, so okay, you’re found not guilty in a rigged trial. I don’t think that they think that this was all kosher. No, it wasn’t,” Hiromo shot back. “So meanwhile, you have the president crowing about it, which is totally expected and now it’s anything goes for this president and this administration.””

    Point and laugh time.

  13. Ah yes, the always tolerant left…….

The violence only ever comes from one side.

And you got to love the reporter, who says they’re “unsure” if it was politically motivated.

  14. For once, I agree with Carville. I worry about the way the Democratic party is going now. They used to be a sensible, though incorrect, answer to our nation’s problems. Disaster didn’t happen if one was elected.
But we elected a Muslim who was converted to Christianity by a pastor who says “not God bless America, but God Damm America”. He later dropped him, but kept his attitude. I am convinced that Obama didn’t love America.
But we can’t exist on a one-party system. Even if it starts out being the correct one.

Trump was legally acquitted. There were scads of witnesses in the House trial. We don’t need to hear them again.
    But they can’t forget it.
I don’t understand their sheer hatred for Trump. It’s more than any ordinary Republican would have.
I don’t know much about Trump. Must be something in his background.
Last election, I voted against Hillary. This time, FOR Trump..

  15. And yeah it would…..

  16. You know he’s right……
