Prayer Requests 1-8-20

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajissun and the folks in The Gambia.

Anyone else?

Psalm 130

A song of ascents.

Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
2 Lord, hear my voice.
   Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
    from all their sins.

  1. Please pray for the receptionist at work and while you’re at it pray for me.
She just stormed in my office because I shared a sponsorship list with her. I ask vendors for a lot and I have to find ways to reward them. She didn’t like that I was now in charge of it and her attitude sparked my temper like no one has lately..
Then while I was typing the above she knocked on my door, came in and apologized.
She still needs prayer. They are placing a lot on her shoulders to do around here.

Me? My temper flares and then I am over it.

  2. Latest update on Josh from last night:

“Praise God he is out of ICU ❤️. Off all oxygen. Had Mac and cheese with apple juice and chocolate ice cream this afternoon 😁. Steroids still working out of his system but had a much better day behaviorly. Still on a mild sedative though for the side affects of them, so lucidity still comes and goes but much easier to re-direct today ❤️. More blood tests and another MRI in the next couple of days. Immune Neuro team on board with other neuro team so very concentrated on finding reason. My request for direct prayers is for a good nights rest. Continued healing, increased lucidity, Divine direction for all that are caring for him. Answers as to why from liquid tests/and cultures.”

  3. I feel bad that I haven’t mentioned my friend Jenn (the one with the severe health issues) in quite a while. Last May I had brought her up for prayer as she was having a long serious surgery that was supposed to help her. Instead, something went wrong and ended up hurting her. She was in the ICU with sepsis for quite a while, and since then has had five drains coming out of her body. (Not sure why, as she doesn’t always get into the exact details.)

She is scheduled for a doozy of a surgery at the end of this month. This morning she posted:

“Saw my stomach surgeon today and oh my, he reminded me 22 more days till the day, and this will, and has to be, the very last surgery we can do but it’s the biggest and scariest..10 hours long and 6 surgeries at one time with 3 surgeons working together as a team.”

Something she has mentioned is that after this surgery, she will not be able to eat or drink by mouth anymore. For several years, she has only been able to have liquids and baby food, but now she won’t even be able to have those. Because of her very-low weight, they put her on TPN (I may have that wrong), which is intravenous nutrition, and she was able to gain some weight, which pleased the doctors.

Please pray that this next surgery will be successful in whatever it is they are trying to do for her, and that afterwards she will be more comfortable (she often has pain). Thank you.

  4. That sounds unpleasant but we know Who holds the future.

Baby is unwell this morning, a cold from the sound of it. Eighteen year old had a doozy last week so it may have come from there, or church or somewhere. She gets out now and then.

  5. Carol seems under the weather and I’m somewhat concerned — she’s had wounds on her legs they’ve been watching, they occasionally open up and ooze (this week one did that again); they do seem to be checking it daily there, but Carol sounds very low-energy on the phone and I couldn’t reach her at all last night, left a text but I see she hasn’t responded to it as of this morning.

Her system is pretty fragile with all she’s been through (she also has MRSA and is very prone to serious bouts of cellulitis in her legs), so it wouldn’t take much to tip her over into another health crisis.

My cousin’s back surgery went well, doctors were pleased, but I haven’t talked to her yet, I want to call her today. But our other cousin yesterday said all went well and she’d be kept for 2 nights, so she actually may be going home today or tomorrow.
