Glad that husband, daughter, and granddaughter were not injured in their run in with the cow. Glad for the cow, as well.
Now to see about repairing the truck. The deputies who were responsible for filling out the accident report are away to hunting camp and out of service for the next while. Report won’t be done until next week. Priorities.
Thankful no fire here while the electricity was down.
I’ve been urging people who were not severely inconvenienced–which is me–to consider this an excellent drill that demonstrates where the problems were. Cell service was down for nearly everyone which is simply unacceptable in an emergency.
I was alone with phone, radio, electricity or anything else to warn me if trouble arose. That did NOT happen during the fires.
Of course, I had a car and could drive away to find electricity–5 miles west–but that’s exactly what everyone else would have been doing on the roads.
So, I’ll pray our local officials to learn some valuable lessons instead of pointing fingers at P,G & E and threatening to sue. It’s so exhausting to maintain self-righteous indignation all the time. 😦
🙂 My husband and I got a bit over a day away (30 hours) and got to visit Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge. It’s close enough to drive over and back the same day, but for the first visit we thought it would be nice to see what was there, and to be in a hotel and close enough to be there for sunrise the second day. I don’t generally do sunrise, but being beside the lake as the sun rose and dozens of geese rose into the air was well worth getting up early.
🙂 I got to meet my first Flickr friend in person. She and her husband are retired, and they volunteered to meet us there and go around together. They’re regulars, several days a week, so they were able to show us a nice spot for the sunrise, spots that are good for woodpeckers, areas good for wood ducks, and so forth.
🙂 Since nearly everything can be seen from the car, my husband had the choice of how much to walk, and he found it nice not to have to walk much, but to walk as he chose.
🙂 We saw six of the seven Indiana woodpecker species (all but the hairy), at least two warbler species (not the pretty ones, but oh well), wood ducks, great blue heron, catbirds, lots of cardinals, at least two species of hawk and probably more, lots of other birds, and multiple species of butterflies.
🙂 We have been desperately in need of rain, and yesterday we finally got a good rain. More is predicted.
😦 I’ve had vertigo on and off over the last week. Last Saturday was the worst, and other than that I’ve only had minor reminders of it, but it is quite an unpleasant experience.
🙂 I got caught up on my editing. Yes, that means I don’t have any more of it to do right now, but at the moment I’m OK with a break.
I can see how that happens since you were there for so long. Even with me, sometimes, when I was looking for a specific book, my mind would jump back to a particular bookcase that sat in the living room at the house I rented before I moved here. This house is laid out much the same way so maybe that’s why my mind always pictured that bookcase in that (old) living room.
I hasn’t happened for a while, but for years my mind kept going back to that prior house when I was looking for something I couldn’t find and I was trying to envision where it was.
I laughed out loud when I recently addressed a relative of my husband by her mother’s first name. Her mother has been dead for decades. Yet, her name was the first to pop into my mind. Our minds are so mysterious and fascinating. Praying for peace for TSWITW.

She can’t seem to realize that this is where we live.
She keeps wanting to go home.
