Prayer Requests 10-12-19

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 62

You, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
   I thirst for you,
    my whole being longs for you,
   in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary
    and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
    my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
    and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
    with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you;
    I think of you through the watches of the night.
Because you are my help,
    I sing in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
    your right hand upholds me.

Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;
    they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
    and become food for jackals.

11 But the king will rejoice in God;
    all who swear by God will glory in him,
    while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

  1. Daughter heard back from the baby dad from his parents. Apparently, they think she is a gold digger after their money and something about the inheritance they are expecting to get. Um, no. She was simply offering them the chance to be in their grandchild’s life at the level they chose. Prayer for wisdom and peace for her that she has done what she needs to do to let them know. Of course, we have no idea if the boy even told his parents, which indicates she does not trust him which begs the question, how did you think it was okay to get involved with him? Drugs and alcohol.

  2. Praying for her and all of you, Mumsee.

    Thanks for the prayers the other day about my headaches. The nausea passed after only a couple of hours, and, while the headache ended up going into a 4th day (yesterday), it was over with by a little after breakfast. I had a productive day yesterday, slept well last night, and feel good today, too.

    Request for today: Please pray for the success of the benefit being held this weekend for my sister-in-law with cancer. Thank you.

  3. Forgot to also mention a praise: I’m grateful to God that the fire that started on our electric stovetop yesterday was quickly extinguished with no injuries or damage. 5th and 6th Arrows were in the kitchen making supper while the rest of us at home were elsewhere in the house. 5th Arrow called out “Fire on the stove!” I’m glad he had the presence of mind to do that. 6th was trying to quietly take care of things herself. Yikes. She did shut the burner off, though, which was good, but was attempting to move the stock pot to a different part of the stove, which would have, of course, given more oxygen to the fire in the burner pan if the pot had been moved off of it.

    Thankful it wasn’t worse!

  4. In the last couple of months, in our circle of acquaintances, two 19-year-olds have died. I never met either young person. One was a severely autistic boy who lived two doors down from us in our last house, and one was dating a boy in our church; in the spring she was found to have a large brain tumor, had surgeries and therapy and so forth, and her sister “walked” for her in her high school graduation. Unexpectedly, she died in her sleep this weekend. From everything I have heard, she wasn’t considered to be in danger. She came to Christ during the crises, our church family ministered to her, and she even came to church at least twice–medically she was quite limited–though at least one of those times we weren’t there, and I never did meet her. Our pastor changed his sermon passage this morning specifically because of her death. I suspect her family is not believers, and her boyfriend had been one of those young-adult church dropouts, so as you think of it, could you pray for our church’s chance to love those who have lost her?

    In more positive news, our nursing student daughter has a week off of classes, and she e-mailed me last night and again this morning; she wants to drive down to surprise her dad. The trick is he sometimes takes a Sunday afternoon nap, and he needs either to take it and get it over with or not to take one at all. 🙂 But I can’t tell him that. But she has been super busy, full time classes plus 24 hours a week of work in a nursing home (an 8-hour shift and a 16-hour one), so she needs to be able to stay alert for the drive both ways (going home will be dark) and the visit.

  5. So sad when young people die. My daughter has told me of a pregnant young woman who was helping a friend. The woman fell somehow and cut herself so badly she died! The baby was born prematurely and was delivered, but was oxygen starved for who knows how long. Prayers are being asked for the baby and family.
