  1. * Biddy translated into β€œFrau Chambers.”

    * Biddy being used as a textbook for a study of β€œMy Utmost for His Highest.”

    * Some clarity about my writing life.

    * Birthday week- 4 in my family including today’s first birthday for an Adorable curly haired blonde who is already dribbling a soccer ball.

    *A peaceful week at home.

  2. πŸ™‚ Watching grandson play on his high school soccer team. It was a rout and not in their favor. He was quite disgusted with the new team he is on, but it is all a learning experience. πŸ™‚
We are too far away to see any of the grands play regularly, so it is always a treat.

πŸ™‚ Computer (apparently) updated after many failures with our slow internet, since our daughter’s is much faster. They complain, however, that it has slowed down. It is all relative. We all used to have the old dial up speeds, so we should be all amazed. Alas, like using a microwave, we just all get spoiled quite quickly.

  3. Happy to report that the chimney is still quite clean from the springtime cleaning. I did bring the cap down so it could be replaced. Though all it does is catch creosote that I need to clean.

  4. So… I haven’t been out the front gate of Ukarumpa since I came back from Cairns on July 5. After a while I just need to see what is over the hill. Thus each school break in the spring and fall I get in touch with our aviation dept. and ask for a flight to Goroka and back in a day. Then I find others to go and we have a day away. It is only a fifteen minute flight, but hours on these rough, pot hole filled roads.
I asked the vice principal to look into it, her hubby is director of aviation. A week or so later she told me he was gone for three weeks so I would have to do it.
Then I emailed aviation over two weeks ago and never got a response.
Friday I gave someone a ride home and they asked about the trip, so I called aviation.
They called back and said that they could give me a flight this Wednesday, but never called to confirm.
I went to a farewell tea for someone from school and no one wanted to go on the trip. So I gave up. I told my friend that I gave up.
Yesterday she called me and she had been calling around and found others to begin to fill the plane. Wow. Aviation will do it as a charter, so one cost for the whole plane.
We need to fill nine seats.
And I still don’t know if we are confirmed.
Also to shop in Goroka you need cash. I have some, but not much.
Our finance dept. is short staffed and says that you can only get cash on Wed. and Friday.

Did I say that life is complex here???

  5. πŸ™‚ Getting accustomed to the grand piano’s presence. It’s hard to believe we’ve only had it 10 days. It seems so at home in our living room now, like it’s been this way for a long time.

πŸ™‚ Accompanying a local university’s concert choir — there have been three rehearsals so far — is going better. The first practice was a bit overwhelming; the second better, but still a little shaky in one place in particular for me; the third went quite well.

😦 2nd Arrow, SIL, and DG were going to visit today, but 3rd Arrow got sick quite suddenly yesterday with fever, chills, body aches, congestion. She’s feeling somewhat better today, but we didn’t want Dear Granddaughter to be exposed to the flu or whatever might be lurking in our household.

πŸ™‚ 2nd Arrow still has a month left of maternity leave, so there will be more opportunities to visit on the weekends between now and then.
