Prayer Requests 7-29-19

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 147

Praise the Lord.

   How good it is to sing praises to our God,
    how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
    he gathers the exiles of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted
    and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars
    and calls them each by name.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
    his understanding has no limit.
The Lord sustains the humble
    but casts the wicked to the ground.

Sing to the Lord with grateful praise;
    make music to our God on the harp.

He covers the sky with clouds;
    he supplies the earth with rain
    and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle
    and for the young ravens when they call.

10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
    nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
    who put their hope in his unfailing love.

12 Extol the Lord, Jerusalem;
    praise your God, Zion.

13 He strengthens the bars of your gates
    and blesses your people within you.
14 He grants peace to your borders
    and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.

15 He sends his command to the earth;
    his word runs swiftly.
16 He spreads the snow like wool
    and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
    Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sends his word and melts them;
    he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.

19 He has revealed his word to Jacob,
    his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 He has done this for no other nation;
    they do not know his laws.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. The Kluet, who live in Aceh Province on the island of Sumatra, live in two districts of South Aceh Regency and have a strong sense of ethnic identity, so they keep close to each other and do not mix well with other ethnic groups. As a result their culture is rather closed to outsiders and to the Gospel. The Kluet are followers of Islam but are very bound up in traditional animistic practices. Mission groups are developing ways to reach out to the Kluet; including children’s education, sports ministry, and relief and development programs, all with the focus on seeing disciple-making movements emerge.

    Please pray…
    Pray that churches will be full of God’s compassion and love to serve and send Gospel workers to this people group.
    Pray that the disciples of Christ who live in the Kluet area will have courage and wisdom to share the Gospel with the Kluet people.
    Pray that the heart of this people group will be prepared and open to know Jesus as personal Lord and Savior.
    Pray that God would prepare people of peace among this people group who seek the Truth.
    Pray that this people group would be adopted by small groups and churches so that prayer for them is raised up and workers are sent to reach them.

  2. Yesterday afternoon I was sitting at my desk thinking about things. (I do a lot of that lately.) And it occurred to me that all the time I was off in the Air Force, my mother was praying for me. It never occurred to me once that my mother might be praying for me.
    Then, I asked the Lord to let mother know that I appreciate that she prayed for me.
    Then it occurred to me, that this is a stupid thing. Asking the Lord ot communicate to my mother something that happened 70 years ago. But, as I was thinking about how dumb it was, I got the impression, “mission accomplished.” The Lord probably sent an angel to take care of that.
    Then it occurred to me that all this is the reminiscence of a silly old man sitting at his desk with nothine else to do.
    But somehow, I feel good about it.

  3. I don’t think we will truly know what a blessing the gift of prayer was until we are in heaven. Perhaps we start getting glimpses here, though. Nice post, Chas.

  4. Chas, on my walk this morning, as I was praying for various folk, I got to the President and his wife and their son. I told the Lord I would be interested in meeting them in heaven to hear their story of how they grew in the Lord and how my prayers might have played in. It came to mind that God will do what He chooses to do, but He uses the tools He selects (us) to accomplish His plans. What a wondrous thing to be a tool in the Hand of the Maker.
