  1. This is why the UN is considered an irrelevant joke by most people.

    Just pathetic.

    https://unwatch.org/no-joke-un-singles-out-israel-a-worlds-only-violator-of-womens-rights-iran-saudi-arabia-yemen-among-the-voters/

” Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Pakistan were among members of the UN’s 54-nation economic and social council, a principal organ of the world body, who voted to single out and condemn Israel yesterday as the only country in the world that violates women’s rights.

The Jewish state was harshly and repeatedly condemned in a resolution, adopted 40 to 2 with 9 abstentions and 3 absent (see breakdown below), for allegedly being the “major obstacle” for Palestinian women “with regard to their advancement, self-reliance, and integration in the development of their society.”

Out of 20 items on the UN Economic and Social Council’s 2018-2019 agenda, only one — Item No. 16 against Israel — focuses on condemning a specific country. All the other focus areas concern global topics such as disaster relief assistance and the use of science and technology for development.

The resolution completely ignores how Palestinian women’s rights are impacted by their own governing authorities—the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, and Hamas in Gaza—nor does it mention how women are discriminated against within patriarchal Palestinian society.

Moreover, ECOSOC concluded its annual session by ignoring the world’s worst abusers of women’s rights, refusing to pass a single resolution on the situation of women in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, or DR Congo, all of which ranked in the top ten worst countries in last year’s Global Gender Gap Report, produced by the World Economic Forum.

Hillel Neuer, Executive Director of UN Watch, condemned the delegates’ abuse of the UN body as a forum to target Israel.

“The UN reached new heights of absurdity by singling out Israel alone on women’s rights, yet saying nothing on Iran holding women’s rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh behind bars, Saudi Arabia jailing and torturing women’s rights activists, and subjugating women under harsh male guardianship laws, or on Yemen denying women hospital treatment without the permission of a male relative,” Neuer said.

“When you have Iran, Saudi Arabia and Yemen among the UN council members accusing Israel of violating women’s rights, you are in the theater of the absurd.””

  2. Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s district isn’t called Dearbornistan for nothing. It’s sad, but we now have no-go zones in the US it would seem. Even sadder is that we allowed this to happen.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/07/michigan-burger-restaurant-with-israeli-ties-cancels-opening-due-to-threats-and-boycotts/#more-290214

“Michigan Burger Restaurant With Israeli Ties Cancels Opening Due to Threats and Boycotts

A Lebanese-American private business owner halted expansion plans because he fears for the safety of his family and employees thanks to anti-Semitic bigotry in Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s district.”

“Imagine investing $200,000 into a restaurant, but then turn around and indefinitely delay its opening because people threatened to boycott your business and bullied your family members.

That’s the decision BurgerIM franchisee Sam Zahr had to make for the safety of his family and employees. He also didn’t want to divide the Dearborn, Michigan, community.

    The Detroit Free Press reports:
Sam Zahr, a Lebanese-American who lives in Dearborn, said he was too worried to open the restaurant on Greenfield Road after his kids were bullied and he received threatening messages from those opposed to the burger chain founded in Israel.

The Dearborn Burgerim location has stirred controversy for months, striking at the heart of the charged debate over Israeli-Palestinian relations. The announced restaurant opening has elicited back-and-forth comments on Facebook posts from those spreading the message to boycott and others just hoping for a good burger.

Burgerim, which means “many burgers” in Hebrew, specializes in mini burgers of different types of meat. It’s headquartered in Encino, California, but was founded in Israel with its first location in Tel Aviv.

Sam Zahr shared one of the threatening messages he received with the publications:

Zahr described several events that led to the decision not to open. In one instance, someone messaged him on Facebook with threatening comments, confirmed by screenshots of the messages.

“I told you, you are not like us,” someone wrote in a Facebook message to Zahr. “You have Palestinian and Lebanese blood on your hand if you open up that joint.”

In another incident, he set up a tent with free burgers outside the soon-to-open Royal Oak store for Ramadan, a Muslim holiday in April, but he said the tent was destroyed the next morning.

Palestinian activist named Amer Zahr (no relation) has led the boycotts:

Amer Zahr — no relation to Sam — is a Dearborn activist, comedian and an adjunct law professor at University of Detroit Mercy. He has been a leading voice urging his community to boycott the business when it opens because it was founded in Israel on land he says was stolen from Palestinians.

    […]

When Burgerim first began to set up shop in the neighborhood, Amer Zahr said many people did not know much about it. He felt it was his job to educate people on the history of its founding.

“Building their company on stolen Palestinian land is how they established themselves,” Zahr said. “Whether they ended up moving (headquarters) … it doesn’t really matter. The genesis of the company was in Israel.”

I’m sure it will surprise absolutely no one reading this to find out that Amer Zahr supports the anti-Semitic BDS movement, which Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) both recently equated to the boycotts of Nazi Germany:”

  3. So Bob Mueller was just a figurehead for a partisan Hillary supporting attack machine.

    https://hotair.com/archives/allahpundit/2019/07/25/nyt-hints-mueller-aide-aaron-zebley-actually-running-russiagate-probe/

“NYT Hints: Mueller Aide Aaron Zebley Was Actually Running The Russiagate Probe”

“Maybe not the only one running it, the Times suggests, but Bob Mueller doesn’t seem to have been a core part of the leadership team.

“It’s inconceivable that Robert Mueller ran this investigation,” said Andy McCarthy on Fox News this morning after taking in Mueller’s performance yesterday. “One thing that was evident in seven hours of testimony is that he only has a remote familiarity with his own report and with the investigation. He was actually staff-driven and that’s what the president has been saying all along.” Kellyanne Conway echoed the point elsewhere, albeit in a kinder way — sort of:

“I am first and foremost who I will always be, which is a daughter, a mother,” Conway told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt during an interview on his show Thursday morning.

“And, of course, I feel great empathy and compassion for folks who, as some of these headlines suggest, may be feeble or not understanding some of the questions — asking them to be repeated, clearly not conversant with the facts and with his own report,” she continued.

Mueller’s halting testimony made the question of who was really in charge inescapable. The Times provides a probable answer: It was Aaron Zebley, the aide who accompanied him to yesterday’s hearing and was allowed by House Democrats to “advise” him on his answers. For good reason, it seems.

Soon after the special counsel’s office opened in 2017, some aides noticed that Robert S. Mueller III kept noticeably shorter hours than he had as F.B.I. director, when he showed up at the bureau daily at 6 a.m. and often worked nights.

He seemed to cede substantial responsibility to his top deputies, including Aaron Zebley, who managed day-to-day operations and often reported on the investigation’s progress up the chain in the Justice Department. As negotiations with President Trump’s lawyers about interviewing him dragged on, for example, Mr. Mueller took part less and less, according to people familiar with how the office worked…

The calendars of one of the team’s top prosecutors, Andrew Weissmann, suggest that he met infrequently with Mr. Mueller apart from a daily 5 p.m. staff meeting, which typically lasted 45 minutes.

Instead, the calendars cite Mr. Zebley’s initials 111 times, often next to “team leader” meetings, suggesting he may have led them.

Has this ever been reported before anywhere? I’m not one of the Internet’s Russiagate obsessives, familiar with minutiae of the probe, but I followed it as closely as anyone who comments on national news for a living might be expected to. I can’t recall even reading the name “Aaron Zebley” before this week, although doubtless it showed up in Mueller stories in passing. I know I’d remember seeing it if any mainstream news source had suggested that Mueller wasn’t fit for command and was serving in a largely figurehead role while his deputies, led by Zebley, handled the business of the investigation. That would have been a bombshell, throwing the probe’s credibility into doubt; Trump surely would have amplified it too in his daily rants about the investigation. “Daffy old Bob Mueller can’t find his way home! How can he find the truth about my innocence?””

    —————-

He was never seeking truth Mr. President.

    But Lindsey is. 🙂

    https://hotair.com/archives/ed-morrissey/2019/07/25/graham-well-dig-determine-muellers-role-special-counsel-probe/

“Graham: “We’ll Dig In” To Determine Mueller’s Role In The Special-Counsel Probe”

“Just a day ago, Lindsey Graham didn’t see the need to ask Robert Mueller to testify before his Senate Judiciary Committee. After Mueller’s surprisingly inept performance, especially at the House Judiciary meeting, Graham is a lot more curious about Mueller’s role in the special counsel probe. He told reporters that it’s become clear that Mueller was at best a figurehead in the investigation and pledged to “dig in” and get some answers:

Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill that the GOP-controlled Senate would continue efforts alongside Attorney General William Barr to investigate whether the probe into the Trump campaign was begun improperly.

“Yeah, I talked to him last night, we talked about…I told him I’ll try to find out how all this mess started, and went so long,” Graham said, apparently referring to President Trump.

“It’s clear to me that Bob Mueller was pretty much a figurehead of the investigation,” Graham added. “We’ll dig in and find what happened.”

If you haven’t already done so, be sure to read Allahpundit’s excellent analysis of the issue. In short: The New York Times reported that Mueller may have been nothing more than a tenuously connected point man for a probe he had little to do with directing, producing a report that he had little to do with writing. That would explain both why Mueller insisted on bringing Aaron Zebley as his wingman and why Mueller got tripped up on his own report. If you’ve spent 22 months investigating Russiagate, how can the name “Fusion GPS” not ring bells, after all?”

  4. And speaking of big jokes…..

So unbiased. like all good journalists………. not.

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/joe-scarborough-plea-dems-get-in-trumps-face

“Joe Scarborough makes desperate plea to Dems: ‘Get in Trump’s face’ or else he’ll win again”

“Joe Scarborough made an impassioned plea to Democrats to “roll up their sleeves and go after” President Trump or watch him win reelection in 2020.

The MSNBC host was reacting to the Mueller hearing and an op-ed in the National Review which argued that Democrats will not defeat Trump in 2020 without “throwing a punch.”

“All along, Democrats were hoping the special counsel would do their dirty work. It’s the same mistake all of Trump’s opponents have made,” wrote Michael Brendan Daugherty.

He concluded in the piece, “And aggression is not the natural language of our political class. Our politicians call for regime change, as if war were a matter of switching office holders. Trump threatened countries with fire, fury and annihilation. Cory Booker said last week “my testosterone sometimes makes me want to feel like punching” Donald Trump. And in that completely bizarre, and entirely non-credible threat is the Democrats’ problem heading into 2020. They sometimes feel like fighting. But I suspect they never will.”

Scarborough wholeheartedly agreed, arguing he’s been calling for similar tactics ever since Trump defeated a crowded Republican field in 2016.

“You’ve got to get in his face, you’ve got to smother him politically. … I’m dead serious. … If you want to stop Donald Trump, it is time to … roll up your sleeves and go after him and do whatever it takes to win. If you don’t do that, you’ll have Donald Trump for four more years,” he said, as co-host and wife Mika Brzezinski agreed.”

  5. It looks like Epstein’s Democrat enablers are getting nervous.

    https://hotair.com/archives/john-s-2/2019/07/25/florida-state-sen-says-received-threats-telling-back-off-epstein-case/

“There’s more mysterious news related to the Epstein case today. Earlier this week a Florida State Senator named Lauren Book (she’s a Democrat) wrote a letter to Republican Gov. DeSantis asking for an investigation of Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. Bradshaw was Sheriff during Jeffrey Epstein’s brief stint in jail and supervised the very special work-release arrangement that allowed Epstein to leave jail up to 12-hours a day, six-days-a-week to do whatever it is he does for a living. Now State Sen. Book says she is receiving threats warning her to back off:

Florida Sen. Lauren Book has reached out to Capitol police after receiving an anonymous warning connected to her demand for a state inquiry into Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw’s handling of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s lenient work release program, the Miami Herald has learned.

Book, a vocal advocate for child sexual assault survivors, said she also received more than a dozen calls by Bradshaw’s political supporters asking her to back off on her call for an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement into Bradshaw…

“I’ve received countless phone calls saying ‘Little girl you don’t know what you’re getting into,’ and telling me that I should just stop,’’ said Book, a child sexual abuse survivor who has worked to pass strict sex offender laws in Florida.

In a statement, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said it had no knowledge of anyone trying to threaten or pressure Book.

Palm Beach County has said it will, in essence, investigate itself to see if anything should have been done differently. I think we can all guess how that will turn out. But today Gov. DeSantis said he will consider a state investigation of the situation.

There is also a Russian interference angle to this story. A former Palm Beach County Sherriff named John Dougan fled to Moscow after an FBI raid of his home in 2016. He now runs a blog from Russia which is supposedly aimed at revealing corruption within his former home county. That sounds extremely sketchy to me but Dougan has claimed that Sheriff Bradshaw used the pretext of “imminent danger” to look into State Sen. Book’s phone and emails. The Sheriff’s Office has denied this but Book has asked Capitol Police to investigate.

All of this comes after reports last week that Epstein’s work release arrangement was even cushier than it had appeared:”

“My initial reaction to Robert Mueller’s congressional appearance was one of pity. He was a pathetic character on the stage, seemingly bewildered at times, mentally frail, and vulnerable as a witness.

What a way to end a career and to be remembered by friend and foe alike.

But emotion is not the way to assess what we saw. It’s not an overstatement to say that the Hillary-DNC-Fusion GPS-Steele operation, as embraced by influential members of the FBI and possibly intelligence services, compounded by leaks to and collusion of a willing media, came close to undermining a presidential election before and after Election Day.

In many ways the Mueller testimony confirmed our worst fears that the Mueller Investigation was the Mueller Investigation in name only, that it was run the way the pre-Mueller investigation of Trump was run — by people with a political agenda to override the 2016 election result, or at least to make sure it didn’t happen again in 2020. It’s a theme we’ve covered here pretty much since the Inauguration.

Whether Robert Mueller was a mere figurehead or in control, he was a participant. So while he was a sorry figure in the congressional hearings, and his appearance did substantial damage to Democrat and media plans, the gravity of what happened should not be lessened. It almost worked.

The media, of course, was a full participant in what happened. Just when you thought the major organizations who control almost all of popular and social media couldn’t get any worse, they do. This all takes place while high tech companies put the thumb on the scale by penalizing non-liberal content.”

The Babylon Bee is usually pretty funny, but that one just fell flat to me. And I agree that it was fanning the flames of that controversy, which should really only have been a local story, but “went viral” because the public has a huge appetite for outrage these days.

  11. I love Babylon Bee and grant satire a bit more leeway for taking on the stories of the day. It’s meant to be biting and they usually hit the mark in very humorous ways.

But we also live in an age of much confusion over what is real and unreal. The nonstop blurring of lines requires news consumers to be exceptionally wise and discerning — and skeptical, always — in this age.

Thanks to technology, the rise of 24-hour partisan cable news-and-commentary outlets, the everyone’s-a-blogger/journalist trend, the election of Trump (heads are still exploding over that) and a host of cultural changes (yes, outrage being one of them, though that may be largely a natural fallout of the foregoing), it’s a perfect storm of opinion overlapping and overtaking genuine news.

It confuses a lot of people.

  12. A Facebook friend shared this article on the Ilhan Omar story.

“No credible explanation of an unlisted younger sibling with an immigration record to a different country (the UK, where Elmi has citizenship) was provided by those pushing this theory. While the rumor became immensely popular, no one addressed the fact that a child younger than Omar at the time of the family’s emigration from Somalia in 1995 somehow wound up separated from the family and remained, as a child, in the United Kingdom, reappearing just in time for his sister to marry him.

Another inconsistency on which the entire theory seemed to rest was Omar and Elmi’s purported plot to secure United States residency or citizenship for Elmi — but after their divorce, Elmi returned to the United Kingdom and did not pursue residency or citizenship in the United States. . . .

All claims that Rep. Omar married her brother Ahmed Elmi traced back to the same single third-hand account originally shared by Power Line Blog in 2016. Omar and a man in the United Kingdom by the name Ahmed Elmi have denied all the claims. Omar has provided access to the limited records she has as a refugee to journalists, efforts on her part that are later dismissed as non-cooperation. No one has ever substantiated the claim, and “new” information repeatedly spread by partisan blogs almost inevitably consists of speculative details such as a name appearing to exist in website code for a URL belonging to her sister.”

“Twelve-year-old Ilhan had no say on the manner in which she arrived in the United States.

However, U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullahi Omar (D-MN) is now under scrutiny for acts she took beginning in 2009 — not 1995. In 2009, Omar was a 26-year-old U.S. citizen. She had been a U.S. citizen for nearly nine years.

Additionally, the foreign national Omar apparently helped commit fraud was not fleeing hell in 2009, either. Ahmed Nur Said Elmi was a long-time citizen of the United Kingdom. He even possessed a high school diploma from the United States: Elmi attended a St. Paul, Minnesota high school for his senior year of 2002-2003, and graduated before returning to London.

We look to 1995 not to incriminate a kid, but to answer questions about what Omar did 14 years later as an adult U.S. citizen.

Please read the verified evidence below — and read it alongside the three years of verified evidence published by Scott Johnson, Preya Samsundar, and myself (our work is linked here). The answers to those questions about 2009 appear to give probable cause to investigate Omar for eight instances of perjury, immigration fraud, marriage fraud, up to eight years of state and federal tax fraud, two years of federal student loan fraud, and even bigamy.

To be clear: The facts describe perhaps the most extensive spree of illegal misconduct committed by a House member in American history.

    ———————-

The preceding information was given to me by multiple sources within the Minneapolis Somali community. The verifiable evidence corroborating their information follows below:

In 1995, Ilhan entered the United States as a fraudulent member of the “Omar” family.

That is not her family. The Omar family is a second, unrelated family which was being granted asylum by the United States. The Omars allowed Ilhan, her genetic sister Sahra, and her genetic father Nur Said to use false names to apply for asylum as members of the Omar family.

Ilhan’s genetic family split up at this time. The above three received asylum in the United States, while Ilhan’s three other siblings — using their real names — managed to get asylum in the United Kingdom.

Ilhan Abdullahi Omar’s name, before applying for asylum, was Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.

Her father’s name before applying for asylum was Nur Said Elmi Mohamed. Her sister Sahra Noor’s name before applying for asylum was Sahra Nur Said Elmi. Her three siblings who were granted asylum by the United Kingdom are Leila Nur Said Elmi, Mohamed Nur Said Elmi, and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

Ilhan and Ahmed married in 2009, presumably to benefit in some way from a fraudulent marriage. They did not divorce until 2017.”

  20. Ahmed is supposedly three years younger than Ilhan. Ilhan’s mother died when she was two. Even if he were her father’s son, why would a father go to the U.S., but let his young child go to a different country? (Especially since they believed they had a valid reason for asylum.)

Another complicating factor is that Ahmed Elmi is a very common Somali name.

On Facebook, another friend was reading your article, but was not convinced. He made the following comments:

“It calls Ilhan Omar’s father “Nur Said.” His actual name is Nur Omar Mohamed. According to Somali naming customs.
The reason that her last name is Omar is that it was her grandfather’s first name. That’s why Omar is her father’s second name.”

As we know, some cultures have different methods of naming, which is why Mike and Mumsee were once believed to be brother and sister in one of the countries they lived in.

“I found another error. They claim that the 87% fraud rate for refugees trying to get family members to get a visa was primarily involving Somalis is not true. The article that it links to said that it was primarily among people from Kenya.”

So far, I see a lot of conjecture and trying to connect various unrelated dots, but I don’t see a smoking gun yet.

Omar first married Hirsi in an Islamic ceremony in 2002 when she was 19, but six years later they ‘reached an impasse in our life together,’ and divorced

In 2009, Omar married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen, who has been identified as her brother – but this has not been proven

Omar had a third child with Hirsi in 2012, even though she was still legally married to Elmi – who she divorced in 2017 and married Hirsi in 2018 ”

  24. And like I said, it doesn’t explain/excuse her many crimes. Crimes which she refuses to address and explain. She could set the record straight, but she won’t.

    And where there’s smoke…..

“Obviously, the reason this is news, assuming it proves to be accurate, is that Omar has already been under a fair amount of scrutiny for her unusual marital history. She originally married her current husband Ahmed Hirsi in 2002 but that marriage was religious and not legal. In 2008 they separated and the following year she married Ahmed Elmi, this time legally. However, Elmi apparently left in 2011 and Omar got back together with Hirsi. They had their 3rd child in 2012 while she was still legally married to Elmi. In 2017, Omar legally divorced Elmi and then married Hirsi legally in 2018.

Adding to the confusion is that fact that Omar filed joint tax returns with Hirsi in at least two years, 2014 and 2015, while she was still legally married to Elmi. That’s illegal under state law and it’s not clear if there were other years where she did the same. But Omar has remained completely mum about all of this, including the rumors that her marriage to Elmi was some sort of sham for immigration purposes.

While some have been eager to dismiss this as nothing more than the product of the right-wing fever swamp, actual attempts to investigate the story have been inconclusive. Here’s Politifact, definitely not a right-wing outlet, talking to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune politics editor about the fact that his paper couldn’t resolve this story one way or the other, mostly because Omar and her family won’t talk about it.

Earlier this week, Judicial Watch filed a House Ethics complaint alleging, among other things, marriage fraud. So while it’s probably too early to say for sure what’s happening with Omar’s current marriage based on this one report, given her unusual marital history and her determined refusal to talk about it, it could be a while before we know anything for certain.”

  25. Curiouser and curiouser…..

    “JUST MARRIED…AND DIVORCED
Sources told me a month ago that Ilhan Omar had essentially abandoned her family in Minneapolis and wanted her current legal husband — husband number 1, Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her children — to seek a divorce from her. I understood that Omar doesn’t want to be seen by the local Somali community as seeking a divorce, either under Islamic custom or American law.

Getting into Omar’s personal life is not my thing, so I held off on reporting the story, but today the Daily Mail breaks it in Martin Gould’s report datelined Minneapolis: “EXCLUSIVE: Ilhan Omar SPLITS with her husband and moves into luxury penthouse as she heads for SECOND divorce with father of her three children.” The Daily Mail story is lavishly illustrated with local photographs.

Gould asserts as a fact that Omar was divorced from Hirsi under Islamic practice in 2008 and is therefore headed for a second divorce from him now. I highly doubt the allegation that this is the second time around for them. Gould’s account of a prior divorce derives solely from the statement crafted for Omar by third-parties to serve Omar’s public relations needs. It should not be taken at face value. Apart from Omar’s say-so, there is no reason to believe that Omar and Hirsi divorced under Islamic custom before Omar entered into a sham marriage with Elmi in 2009. Omar, of course, refuses to talk about her curious case.

Social media evidence, I should add, suggests that Elmi is Omar’s brother, although we don’t know that yet for a fact. We do know that Omar and Hirsi filed joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015 even though Omar and Hirsi weren’t legally married and Elmi was still legally married to Omar. (Omar won’t talk about that either.) Omar didn’t get around to divorcing Elmi until 2017 or marrying Hirsi under Minnesota law until last year, when Omar was obviously tying up the loose ends of her personal life for political purposes.”
