Anyone have something to share?
Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
The last beer I ever drank was with Vernon Fash. That was in Spring 1953. One evening, same spring, I was in my room one night and Vernon came in talking about an experience he had. His story was so garbled that I didn’t understand what he was getting at. But he had found Christ, been converted. Later, Vernon changed his major from engineering to English so that he could attend Southwestern Seminary. But that’s another story.
In the summer of 1955, it happened that Vernon and I were roommates for summer semester. Vernon was taking a Philosophy course from an athist professor. Vernon was a new Christian and knew that the professor was incorrect in his rants, but didn’t know how to handle the professor. Vernon kept ranting about his professor.
One evening, I happened to be reading my Bible and came across that verse. I mentioned it to Vernon and it changed his outlook on life and the philosophy course. All Vernon had to do was pass the course. He’s not responsible for the professor.
I have other stories concerning Vernon and his family. But that’s enough for now. We remained friends all these years. Vernon became a chaplain in the AF. LtCol Fash died last year.

:blush: In cutting and pasting the story, I missed posting the strange memory verse.
Vernon is the only person I know who’s favorite verse is Coll. 2:8 “”Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after r the tradition of men, after the tradition of this world, and not after Christ. ” Years later, he still mentioned it as a favorite.
I don’t know how I messed up on this.I

My brother is named Vernon, Chas. It is not a name you hear very often. Nice to hear your story, and it did not matter for it to be in two parts.

Duke’s injury is opening up new drainage points despite the Penrose drain. He’s not happy and it’s a long weekend. Husband spoke to the vet when the first spot opened up yesterday and they said that was good and natural but it’s disturbing to look at. Today there is another spot open. Ugh. Antibiotics finish tomorrow (vet said that was okay) but it is distressing to see him like this.

First day of camp today. I’ve implemented a few changes to the check-in procedure to try and catch campers that need to talk with our medical staff or camper support (mental health, behavioural issues).
Please pray that things go smoothly and for the campers that are here this week – to see Jesus, to meet Jesus and also to have so much fun.
85% of our campers come from non-churched families. It is the 8 to 10 year olds this week.

Prayers for Carol, she hasn’t been feeling well and seemed quite under the weather yesterday when I visited. I’m wondering if she might have another UTI (which she gets frequently) or some other kind of overall infection. She has a constantly super-runny nose also, and a stomach upset but that’s likely due to the ongoing after-effects of the hernia surgeries and a diet with too much candy and chocolate.
My neighbors get home today, the damage to their desert house was worse than they thought at first, but sounds like things are set to launch with repairs that’ll take 2 months and the insurance company (hopefully) paying for much of that.

Her legs are also in poor shape. Back in the day she was a compulsive walker, she used to walk 3 miles a day during the week and 9 miles a day on weekends — just power walking along the beach in the years after she came here from NY (she thinks that’s part of what’s making her legs so worn out now). She also told me that as a teen she’d come home from school and drink a 6-pack of Tab soda — every day. She’s always been voraciously thirsty and ‘hungry’ — behaviors all characteristic of her mental issues, I’m sure.

There is a diet with too much candy and chocolate?
Yes, sadly, I am very familiar with that one.

Carol is still not feeling well tonight, though she did go down to the dining room for breakfast and lunch — but she skipped dinner and just had that slow, under-the-weather tone to her voice so I’m kind of worried about her and suggested if she didn’t feel better in the morning to talk to the staff nurse. I asked if her potassium had been checked lately and she said no but she didn’t think that was it — she’s still drinking an inordinate amount of liquids/soda (diet) but said she’s tested for diabetes every time they do blood work and so far has been negative (and she’s always drank just a ton of liquids ever since I’ve known her). Her latest obsession is sugar-free candies (she bought several — 9 — pounds of it this week when she got paid and is worried it won’t be enough to last her the month) and sugary chewing gum. So all of this upset stomach etc. could just be related to what she’s ingesting.
