  1. I’m no fan of Islam or it’s followers, but this is still wrong. No one deserves this for their religious views, no matter how wrong they are.

And where is the international media on this?

“Video: Inside China’s Nightmarish Potemkin Village Reeducation Camps”

“Since America’s chattering class has spent a freakish amount of time this past week debating what does and doesn’t count as a “concentration camp,” here’s something much closer to the traditional definition. This is more accurately regarded as an internment or reeducation camp, I suppose, since the goal is brainwashing, not hard labor unto death. But the scale of the concentration is vast: Last August the Journal that upwards of one million Muslim Uighurs, roughly seven percent of the population of China’s Xinjiang region, had been packed off to 1,300+ camps for “reeducation.” A more recent estimate by CFR says the number may run as high as two million. It’s a modern-day gulag, being operated on an industrial scale, and you scarcely hear about it. Including and especially from Muslim governments abroad, which are more interested in preserving their economic relationships with China than in human rights for members of their faith.

It doesn’t take much to get thrown in the camp, and it’s not just the camps that one has to fear in Xinjiang:

Most people in the camps have never been charged with crimes and have no legal avenues to challenge their detentions. The detainees seem to have been targeted for a variety of reasons, according to media reports, including traveling to or contacting people from any of the twenty-six countries China considers sensitive, such as Turkey and Afghanistan; attending services at mosques; and sending texts containing Quranic verses. Often, their only crime is being Muslim, human rights groups say, adding that many Uighurs have been labeled as extremists simply for practicing their religion…

Experts say Xinjiang has been turned into a surveillance state that relies on cutting-edge technology to monitor millions of people. Under Xinjiang’s Communist Party leader, Chen, Xinjiang was placed under a grid-management system, as described in media reports, in which cities and villages were split into squares of about five hundred people. Each square has a police station that closely monitors inhabitants by regularly scanning their identification cards, taking their photographs and fingerprints, and searching their cell phones. In some cities, like Kashgar in western Xinjiang, police checkpoints are found every one hundred yards or so, and facial-recognition cameras are everywhere. The government also collects and store citizens’ biometric data through a required program advertised as Physicals for All.

What could the Soviets have done with 2019 surveillance technology? We’re finding out.

Although the monitoring methods are new, the indoctrination methods are not. From the WSJ’s report:

The prisoners were awakened at 5 a.m. each morning and after a 45-minute run, shouting “The Communist Party is good!” were fed thin soup and steamed bread, he said.

Next came political classes, which included reading Communist Party documents, watching videos about President Xi Jinping and singing patriotic songs such as “Without the Communist Party, there wouldn’t be a new China!” for up to four hours daily…

“They said we should give thanks not to Allah, but to Xi Jinping,” said one Uighur former inmate, who declined to be identified.”

  2. Yet another way China cheats the US in so-called “free trade.”.

    https://thefederalist.com/2019/06/24/rare-earths-mining-shows-exactly-china-cheats-united-states-free-trade/

“Rare-Earths Mining Shows Exactly How China Cheats The United States Through ‘Free Trade’

A game where only one side plays by the rules is rigged. We have now locked ourselves in an embrace with a corrupt regime, and it has not been to our benefit economically or morally.

The United States and China have traded since the early days of our republic, but only recently has the scale of that trade become a political issue. More than any other point, Donald Trump’s rhetoric against outsourcing to China gave him the blue-collar Midwestern votes that made up his margin of victory in 2016. His election was a break with the generation-long bipartisan consensus that more and freer trade is better, whether the trading partner is a liberal democracy that respects the rule of law or a communist dictatorship where unfree people labor in unsafe conditions for government-suppressed wages.

Even to call trade with China “free” is a misnomer. Besides the minor tariffs still in place, there is also an uneven use of non-tariff trade barriers. Chinese goods enter our markets cheaply and freely because we agree to follow our agreements, our laws, and the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Our goods, on the other hand, are subject to arbitrary restrictions by the communist government, while Chinese companies and government routinely infringe our intellectual property rights. The high hopes of free trade have been replaced with humiliation and decline.

Free trade with unfree nations smells like a conspiracy: the rich get richer by paying peanuts for production, while blue-collar workers lose their jobs and are bought off with cheap goods and more welfare. The truth is not criminal, just criminally stupid.

In classic American broad-mindedness, when our system won the Cold War, we bent over backward to befriend our former enemies. Free trade would lead to a prosperous, freer China, the thinking went. We thought that lowering our guard would turn a foe into an ally. Instead, the American worker just got sucker-punched.”

  3. Dead. On. Arrival.

    https://hotair.com/archives/2019/06/24/pelosis-border-bill-dead-arrival/

“When we previously discussed the President’s decision to put the planned deportation raids in as many as a dozen cities on hold, I suggested that Speaker Pelosi might have put an offer on the table that caught Trump’s attention, prompting the delay. His statement about giving Congress “a couple of weeks” to hammer out a deal seemed to provide further indication that this was what happened. Now we’re getting some of the details of the “offer” Nancy Pelosi is putting forward and as far as I can tell, ICE should probably gas up the trucks and get ready to head out because it stinks on ice. (Pardon the pun.)

Our colleague Beth Baumann at Town Hall has most of the details in the plan. They are almost entirely based on help for the immigrants at the border (much of which would be fine if they want to spend the money) and virtually nothing that the President or conservatives want out of a border bill.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Sunday said the House of Representatives will advance a border bill brought about by the House Appropriations Committee. The announcement comes after President Donald Trump’s last minute decision to cancel a deportation raid that was scheduled for Sunday in 10 cities. Trump said he would give Congress two weeks to pass a border bill before the raid is reinstated.”

    ————-

“You can go down the list, but all of the spending items are related to meeting the needs of the illegal aliens already in the country, with no provisions for slowing the flow of additional illegals crossing the border or speeding up the rate that we are able to process them.

There’s 934.5 million for processing facilities, food, water, sanitary items, blankets, etc. $866 million would go to “reduce reliance on influx shelters to house children.” Another $200 million is allocated to develop an “integrated, multi-agency processing center pilot program for families.” You’re probably getting the idea.”

  4. Millennials are blaming Boomers for all that’s wrong in the world.

    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/06/boomers-are-blame-aging-america/592336/

    “The Boomers Ruined Everything
The mistakes of the past are fast creating a crisis for younger Americans.”

“The Baby Boomers ruined America. That sounds like a hyperbolic claim, but it’s one way to state what I found as I tried to solve a riddle. American society is going through a strange set of shifts: Even as cultural values are in rapid flux, political institutions seem frozen in time. The average U.S. state constitution is more than 100 years old. We are in the third-longest period without a constitutional amendment in American history: The longest such period ended in the Civil War. So what’s to blame for this institutional aging?

One possibility is simply that Americans got older. The average American was 32 years old in 2000, and 37 in 2018. The retiree share of the population is booming, while birth rates are plummeting. When a society gets older, its politics change. Older voters have different interests than younger voters: Cuts to retiree-focused benefits are scarier, while long-term problems such as excessive student debt, climate change, and low birth rates are more easily ignored.

But it’s not just aging. In a variety of different areas, the Baby Boom generation created, advanced, or preserved policies that made American institutions less dynamic. In a recent report for the American Enterprise Institute, I looked at issues including housing, work rules, higher education, law enforcement, and public budgeting, and found a consistent pattern: The political ascendancy of the Boomers brought with it tightening control and stricter regulation, making it harder to succeed in America. This lack of dynamism largely hasn’t hurt Boomers, but the mistakes of the past are fast becoming a crisis for younger Americans.”

“President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order to improve the price and quality transparency in health care. According to the president, patients deserve to know the cost of health care procedures before they receive treatment

“We’re here to announce new groundbreaking actions that we’re taking to dramatically increase quality, affordability, and fairness to our healthcare system,” President Trump said during the signing ceremony. “We believe the American people have a right to know the price of services before they go to visit the doctor. Therefore, in a just a few moments, I’ll be signing a breakthrough executive order. It will create unprecedented transparency about healthcare prices and provide this information to the American people for the first time ever.”

Under the order, the Department of Health and Human Services will: :

    • Require hospitals to publish prices for their services in a clear and straightforward manner.
    • Federal agencies will inform patients about difference in price and quality of care.

According to Trump, the price transparency will create greater competition “and the cost of healthcare will go way, way down.”

  6. The appropriate response.

    https://thefederalist.com/2019/06/23/trumps-cyber-attack-iran-right-move/

“Why Trump’s Cyber Attack On Iran Was The Right Move

Cyber attacks are the future of warfare. By launching one against Iran, Trump has increased the threat to Iran without plunging the United States into war.”

“President Trump faced a difficult choice in the wake of Iran’s downing of an American drone over the Strait of Hormuz last week. Eventually, after ordering an attack, Trump decided against it, because the 150 estimated civilian casualties would have represented a disproportionate response to destroying an unmanned drone. But yesterday we found out he did pull the trigger on a different kind of response, and the United States launched a cyber attack against the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, disabling some weapon systems.

Although the concept and capability of cyber warfare has existed since at least the 1980s, it is still in a very nascent, although dangerous stage. High-ranking military officials I have spoken to consider the cyber threat to the United States to be the greatest we face from foreign adversaries. Before looking at Trump’s action, and why it was a good move, it’s good to understand the current state of cyber warfare.

There are basically two types of cyber attacks that nations or non-state actors can employ. One is informational; the other degrades actual capabilities of computer networks. For obvious reasons involving Russia’s attempt to influence the 2016 election, the media in the United States has been focused on the informational side. This can include anything from social media election interference, as we saw from the Internet Research Agency, to spying through classified computer systems.

Informational cyber attacks can go on for long periods of time undetected. They are also very cheap to set up and operate. The United States is extremely vulnerable to these kinds of attacks precisely because our society is so free, while our adversaries can simply shut down websites, or the Internet. Thus the United States is struggling, along with social media companies themselves, to combat this growing threat.

The far more serious threat lies in attacks that degrade actual computing and network capabilities. The Pentagon’s top concern in this area is referred to as a cyber Pearl Harbor. This would look something like a foreign power shutting down the electrical grids in major U.S. cities. Such an attack could kill thousands of Americans very quickly. In fact, the military has studied the impact of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico as a model of what might happen if we suffered such an attack.

A cyber Pearl Harbor which leveled that kind of death and destruction would almost certainly be viewed as an outright act of war that must be met with a conventional warfare response. However, smaller-scale degrading cyber attacks, such as the one Trump ordered, exist on a murkier spectrum of destruction and response. It is not clear exactly what level of degradation of computing capabilities would cross the line that calls for a conventional response. This is exactly why it was the right move for Trump.”

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/06/clapper_hears_barrs_chilling_footsteps.html

“They really counted on Hillary winning, didn’t they? Former director of National Intelligence James Clapper is in panic mode, realizing that the so-called “intelligence community” he supervised under President Obama is about to be revealed by Atty. Gen. William Barr and U.S. atty. John Durham as a weaponized arm of the Clinton campaign, with indictments to follow.

The man who lied to Congress about spying on the American people was shocked back in April to hear Barr testify before Congress that yes, he thought the Trump campaign had been spied upon by his political opponents. As Breitbart reported:

Well, I thought it was most stunning and scary. I was amazed at that and rather disappointed that the attorney general would say such a thing. The term “spying” has all kinds of negative connotations, and I have to believe he chose that term deliberately. And I think it’s incredible that if he has concerns, he would have easily on his first day on the job, after his confirmation, asked his own IG, the Inspector General of the Department of Justice, for a briefing on his preliminary, in the course of his investigation, that is, the IG’s investigation, whether there was any wrongdoing by the FBI. I think it would have been far more appropriate for him to just defer to that investigation rather than postulating, apparently with no evidence. He just has a feeling that there was spying against the campaign.

Barr has more than that, it would seem, and has sent chills up Clapper’s spine that he and Durham are dead serious about checking out the real reasons for the Intelligence Community’s “assessment” that Russia wanted Trump to win and was meddling in the election to achieve that result. According to a Wall Street Journal report:

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper says The Wall Street Journal report that Attorney General William Barr appears to be investigating a high-confidence finding of the US intelligence community assessment of the 2016 election sends a “chilling message to the intelligence community.”

Close scrutiny of the Intelligence Community’s actions should send chills up Clapper’s spine. In the search for the answer as to how the whole Mueller collusion probe and spying on Team Trump originated, one does not have to look far. One needs only to revisit the interview Deep State conspirator and perjurer James Clapper gave with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. He points his finger directly at Barack Hussein Obama as leader of the coup against Donald Trump:”

“In a secretly recorded discussion, Jen Gennai — head of Google’s “Responsible Innovation” team, which monitors the responsible implementation of A.I. technologies — describes to undercover reporters for Project Veritas the rationale behind the company’s A.I. principles.

“The reason we launched our A.I. principles is because people were not putting that line in the sand, that they were not saying what’s fair and what’s equitable so we’re like, well we are a big company, we’re going to say it,” says Gennai.

“The people who voted for the current president do not agree with our definition of fairness,” adds Gennai, who describes herself on Twitter as “championing ethics and fairness in technology, and diversity in teams.”

Google, she suggests, is “training our algorithms” to “prevent” 2016 from happening again. “Elizabeth Warren is saying we should break up Google,” she says. “And like, I love her but she’s very misguided, like that will not make it better it will make it worse, because all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation, it’s like a small company cannot do that.”

“We all got screwed over in 2016, again it wasn’t just us, it was — the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over — so we’re rapidly been like, what happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again,” she says in another clip. “We’re also training our algorithms, like, if 2016 happened again, would we have, would the outcome be different?”

An anonymous whistleblower told Project Veritas that Google’s A.I. involves “Machine Learning Fairness,” which the insider explained is “one of the many tools Google uses to promote a political agenda,” Project Veritas reports.

“They’re going to redefine a reality based on what they think is fair and based upon what they want, and what and is part of their agenda,” the insider tells Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe.”

This is what, the 4th or 5th time a photo of kids at the border has gone viral that ended up not telling the real story? In this case, the misleading was clearly intentional though, as you’ll see.

A picture of children sleeping with aluminum thermal blankets on the floor of a CBP detention facility made the rounds this weekend. It was posted by someone named Nancy Lee Grahn. Apparently I’m supposed to know who she is because she’s on TV and has a blue check-mark, but admittedly, I’ve never heard of her.

Here’s the original tweet, which is still up.”

“A $4.5 billion migrant aid bill is making a Democratic House divided against itself.

The legislation, expected to be up for a vote Tuesday, is designed to provide humanitarian care for the overload of migrants who continue to cross the border. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supports the bill while more liberal and very vocal House Democrats are opposing it, The New York Times reported Monday.

Critics of the bill say that any funds approved by Congress will be used by the Trump administration to continue its policy of detention and deportation. (RELATED: Dan Crenshaw Calls Out Clinton For Using Border Crisis As A Democratic Fundraiser)

The debate has focused on the fate of hundreds of migrant children who were moved from a Clint, Texas border patrol center because there was insufficient soap, toothbrushes and food to meet their needs. Reports circulated of infants and toddlers not receiving adequate care while living in very poor conditions.

Pelosi met with key Democrats on Monday night in an effort to ensure she has enough votes to pass the bill, according to the Times.”

Over the weekend, Ocasio-Cortez teamed up with other “progressive congresswomen” — colleagues like Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib — to issue a news release that vowed to withhold further funding for ICE and the CBP.”

The resolution asks counselors, pastors, churches, educators, schools, legislators, and others to avoid supporting traditional and Biblical views of sexuality, which the measure claims can cause suicide and depression. The text of the resolution includes philosophical statements about the nature of human sexuality and a broad condemnation of so-called “conversion therapy,” which it says “has been rejected as ineffective, unethical, and harmful.” …

… As a resolution, ACR 99 does not have the force of law. It will now go to the state Senate for a vote.

WASHINGTON—The United States on Monday moved more than 250 migrant children from a Border Patrol station near El Paso, Texas, after reports revealed inadequate living conditions at the facility. A team of lawyers that visited the station in Clint, Texas, on Thursday said they saw hungry, filthy children in cramped conditions. …

… Congressional Republicans and Democrats are battling over a Border Patrol request for more funding to deal with the humanitarian crisis. Border Patrol officials told lawmakers that they cannot handle the recent influx of illegal migrants crossing the southern U.S. border. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner John Sanders said 4,000 people is the agency’s maximum holding capacity. It is currently holding 15,000. Many of the children came to the United States unaccompanied, but some were separated from their parents, according to the lawyers.

    That’s what.

    While you wait, here’s a reminder…….

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columnists/byron-york-what-now-for-those-who-denied-a-crisis-at-the-border

“Congress is debating emergency humanitarian aid to care for migrants on the U.S.-Mexico border. The need is obvious. With virtually no barrier to stop them, thousands of migrants are crossing illegally into the United States every day. More than a million will come this year. U.S. law prevents border officials from quickly returning them. While they are being processed, some of the migrants, including children, are being kept temporarily in terrible conditions. American officials have an obligation to take care of them before those with no valid claim to be in the United States are returned to their home countries.

Capitol Hill Democrats are reportedly torn about an emergency aid measure. On one hand, they want to care for the migrants. On the other hand, they fear approving aid would empower President Trump to carry out a plan to deport illegal immigrants whose cases have received full legal due process and who have been ordered deported. Such deportations used to be relatively uncontroversial but are now, apparently, unacceptable to some Democrats.

This moment might be a time for introspection for those who have consistently downplayed the urgency of the situation on the border. Earlier this year, with the number of illegal crossings rising; with the nature of the crossers changing — more families and more children than in earlier years; with the testimony of border officials that they were unable to handle the situation — with all that happening, many Democrats and their supporters in the media forcefully denied that there was a crisis on the southern border. Here are a few — actually, more than a few — examples:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the situation “a fake crisis at the border.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called it “a crisis that does not exist.”

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said, “There is no crisis at the border.”

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries said, “There is no crisis at the border.”

House Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Eliot Engel called the situation “a fake crisis at the border.”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said, “There is no crisis at the border.”

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, said, “We don’t have a border crisis.”

Rep. Lloyd Doggett called the situation “a phony border crisis.”

Rep. Earl Blumenauer called it “a fake crisis at the border.”

Rep. Sanford Bishop called it “a crisis that does not exist.”

Reps. Jesus Garcia, Jose Serrano, Suzanne Bonamici, Donald Beyer, Pramila Jayapal, and Adriano Espaillat called it a “nonexistent border crisis.”
