Prayer Requests 6-13-19

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 119:73-80

י Yodh

73 Your hands made me and formed me;
    give me understanding to learn your commands.
74 May those who fear you rejoice when they see me,
    for I have put my hope in your word.
75 I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous,
    and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
76 May your unfailing love be my comfort,
    according to your promise to your servant.
77 Let your compassion come to me that I may live,
    for your law is my delight.
78 May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause;
    but I will meditate on your precepts.
79 May those who fear you turn to me,
    those who understand your statutes.
80 May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees,
    that I may not be put to shame.

  1. A century ago, world powers left Kurdistan off their newly-drawn maps. Pen, paper and powerful men established lines that crisscrossed the traditional lands of the Kurds. These lines helped to create the modern borders of Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Armenia—but not Kurdistan, leaving 30 million Kurds without a country; the largest people group without their own country. Today they form a distinct community united through race, culture and language.

    Many Kurds live in the semi-autonomous region of Iraq called Kurdistan. In recent decades they have influenced regional developments, fighting for autonomy in Turkey and playing prominent roles in the conflict in Iraq and Syria where they resisted the advance of the Islamic State.

    Please pray…
    There is a team that is helping over 2000 families. Pray that many respond to the love and care and put their trust in Jesus.
    The church has grown as a result of all the recent trouble in the region – pray for discipleship and leadership training.
    Pray for the unity and selflessness of the growing fellowships among the Kurds, especially in Syria and Lebanon.
