Prayer Requests 5-24-19

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 112

Praise the Lord.

   Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
    who find great delight in his commands.

Their children will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses,
    and their righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
    who conduct their affairs with justice.

Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
    they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,
    their righteousness endures forever;
    their horn will be lifted high in honor.

10 The wicked will see and be vexed,
    they will gnash their teeth and waste away;
    the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

  1. The focus for the 30 days of prayer for Muslims is for Somalis. Their country has been war torn for so long, and recent drought and accompanying outbreaks of cholera and measles have added to the devastation. The large diaspora of Somalis also face upheaval, with the extremist group Al Shabaab making life difficult for the refugees in Kenya, while Somalis who had fled across the Gulf of Aden to Yemen had to flee again when conflict erupted there. Pray for the peace that Christ brings to come to Somalis (John 14:27). Pray that the large diaspora of Somali refugees in Western countries would come to the truth and be able to carry the Gospel to their people. Pray for believers in Somalia, who face persecution from their family members and communities for converting, that they might be given strength to endure.

  2. Sounds like two year old granddaughter may be staying with us for a couple of weeks. That will be fun. But we would appreciate prayer for energy and wisdom.

  3. Husband’s surgery was more grueling than the previous one three years ago (a single hernia on the left side then, a double hernia on the right side now). Whether it was because there were two of them this time, or because the surgeon cut out a nerve that went through the area where the mesh was to be placed, hubby’s pain levels were high (9-10) post-op. Then he got nauseous from the extra pain meds, which hasn’t happened to him before.

    Forget being home by noon and homeschooling the kids — hubby and I were out the door around 6 this morning and didn’t get home until 5 tonight.

    He will be off work for at least 4 weeks. Continued prayer appreciated. Thanks.

  4. Family is fine. We have always talked about grandchildren coming to visit granny for a couple of weeks in the summer. Most are too far away but I think having four month old survive was a reminder that we could probably handle a two year old. If she does stay, husband will take her back to Boise when he goes for his infusion. She loves being outside and this is a good place for that.
