  1. Alabama gets serious about ending abortion.

“Alabama Senate passes bill banning nearly all abortions”

“The Alabama state Senate passed a bill on Tuesday that would outlaw virtually all abortions in the state, making an exception only in cases where a mother’s health is in jeopardy.

The bill, which had already passed the state’s House of Representatives, will now be passed up to GOP Governor Kay Ivey.

The governor has not commented on the legislation, but is generally a staunch opponent of abortion.

The measure comes as conservative state governments across the country are taking up anti-abortion bills in an effort to get the issue in front of the Supreme Court.

A total of 16 states have introduced legislation to restrict the procedure, including four states whose governors have signed bills that prohibit abortion when a heartbeat is detected.”

  2. A horrible toll.

“The stunning toll of Boy Scout sex abuse: More than 12,200 reported victims

For decades, the Boy Scouts of America has closely guarded a trove of secret documents that detail sexual abuse allegations against troop leaders and others.

The most complete public accounting of the abuse so far came in 2012 when the Los Angeles Times published a searchable database of 5,000 files and case summaries that are part of the Scouts’ blacklist known as the “perversion files.”

Seven years later, more details are emerging about the scope of sex abuse in the youth organization. A researcher hired by the Scouts to analyze records from 1944 to 2016 testified earlier this year that she had identified 7,819 suspected abusers and 12,254 victims.

But even those numbers grossly understate how many molesters infiltrated the Scouts’ ranks over the years, according to lawyers who have sued the organization on behalf of hundreds of abuse victims. Most predators were accused of abusing multiple boys, they noted, and many instances of abuse were never reported.”

  3. Self awareness and reflection is not Brennan’s thing. He’s too worried about staying out of prison.

  4. Democrats are already lying about the new law.

“AOC Gets Called Out Over Abortion Law LIE. Her Excuse Is Pathetic.”

“On Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was called out for propagating a bald-faced lie about the newly-passed Alabama abortion ban. And instead of correcting her lie, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez made a pathetic excuse to cover up her deceit. It was, in a word, embarrassing.

Of course, this is untrue. Third-party abortionists would be prosecuted under the new law, not mothers. One America News Network’s Liz Wheeler called out the 29-year-old: “This is a lie,” she replied. “Under no circumstances would women be jailed for abortions. The abortionist would be penalized.”

“Tell the truth, [AOC],” Wheeler continued. “You’re trying to scare women into supporting abortion. Why don’t you tell the truth & see if women support your extreme abortion agenda then?”

  5. Well it’s not like Congress is doing their job on this issue, so it’s time someone else did their job for them.

And it’s one that makes sense. End chain migration, and only bring in the workers we need, not those just being brought in to steal an American’s job.

“White House to unveil sweeping overhaul of immigration system, including merit-based admissions, officials say”

“The White House is set to unveil a sweeping new plan that would radically transform the makeup of immigrants in the United States, ending the visa lottery program and implementing a comprehensive merit-based admissions procedure, three senior administration officials told Fox News on Wednesday.

The move would more than quadruple the number of immigrants admitted because of their work-related skills, while dramatically slashing the number of immigrants admitted because of family ties. Currently, approximately 12 percent of immigrants are admitted based on employment and skills, while 66 percent are admitted based on family connections.

Those percentages, under the new plan, would shift to 57 percent and 33 percent, respectively. Ten percent of immigrants would be admitted on humanitarian or other grounds, but the plan would end the visa lottery program.

In its place: a new “Build America Visa” program that would recognize “extraordinary talent” and “people with professional and specialized vocations,” including exceptional students, Fox News has learned.

Potential immigrants would be assessed using a point-based system, accounting for factors including age, English proficiency, whether each candidate has an offer of employment above a certain wage threshold, and educational and vocational certifications. Pledges to invest and create jobs also would be considered.”

  6. This will help you see thru the lies that Dems and the media will spread about Alabama’s new law.

“What You Need To Know About Alabama’s New Abortion Ban

The bill is short and easy to understand, but here is a summary of the important points that are likely to be hotly contended by people who don’t know what they’re talking about.”

“If past media responses to abortion restrictions are any indication, you’re going to see a tremendous amount of misinformation about Alabama’s law that “bans abortion,” which the governor signed Wednesday.

You can read House Bill 314 here for yourself. It is short and easy to understand, but here is a summary of the important points that are likely to be hotly contended on social media by people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

    1. The Law Defines All Humans as Persons from Conception

HB 314, or The Alabama Human Life Protection Act, defines all unborn children as persons. This differentiates it from Georgia’s LIFE Act, which would only afford legal protection to preborn babies whose heartbeat can be detected, usually around the gestational age of six weeks.

UNBORN CHILD, CHILD or PERSON. A human being, specifically including an unborn child in utero at any stage of development, regardless of viability.

    2. HB 314 Defines Most Conventional Abortions as Felonies
HB 314 defines most abortions as class A felonies and attempted abortions as class C felonies.

Section 6. (a) An abortion performed in violation of this act is a Class A felony.

    (b) An attempted abortion performed in violation of this act is a Class C felony.

    3. Many Exceptions Apply”

  7. So……

    Which rat flips first?

    Pass the popcorn. 🙂

“Who’s going to cut a deal first in Spygate?

Katie Pavlich: “The Comey vs Brennan vs Clapper vs Lynch vs Obama show is going to be awesome””

“Who is going to cop a plea first?

That might be the question lawyers are asking as the probe by John Durham, a U.S. attorney in Connecticut, into the origins of the spying-not-spying on the Trump campaign moves forward.

Durham was appointed after Bill Barr famously told Congress that there was “spying” on the Trump campaign, and he wanted to find out what happened, how it happened, and whether there was a sufficient predicate. Democrats and the media flipped out, which led me to write, Bill Barr is going to expose Spygate, and the Democrat-Media Russia Collusion Complex is panicking:

It was Barr’s comments about spying on the Trump campaign, and his pledge to investigate that spying, that explains the frenzy to take down Barr. That spying, regardless of whether lawful, has the potential to be a scandal that could touch deep into the Obama administration, and some former officials who loom large in the anti-Trump resistance.

It also could reach deep into the media, with the involvement of Fusion GPS in feeding Russian-provided, Clinton/DNC paid-for, disinformation to the mainstream journalist community.

So the stakes are huge. The Russian collusion scandal may be a Democrat and media scandal. People may go to jail for that collusion, and if so, they may be the first people to go to jail over Russian collusion involving the 2016 election.

Barr is the single greatest threat to the Democrat-Media Russia Collusion Complex. That’s why Democrats, with help from the mainstream media, will spare no effort to tarnish Barr as a way of discrediting the investigative train that is rolling down the tracks.

One key part of the probe will be the use of the Steele dossier to justify the FISA court orders authorizing the spying-not-spying. And former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan are in open conflict.”

  8. For HRW,

“President Trump’s tariffs on China may well take a toll on the US economy, but the price of not confronting Beijing would be higher.

The president isn’t playing protectionist here. He’s pushing a single player who needs to be confronted, a cheater and a bully. For decades, China has gotten away with theft of others’ production techniques and other intellectual property, along with technology transfers and mistreatment of US companies. Moreover, it uses its ill-gotten gains to boost its military, adding another threat.

And Beijing just backed off key concessions it had already made in months of trade talks, expecting Washington to fold.

Instead, Trump goosed fees on $200 billion in Chinese imports to 25 percent, from 10 percent. China struck back with its own new tariffs on US products, and now Team Trump is eyeing fees on another $325 billion in Chinese goods (i.e., basically the rest).

The markets didn’t like it: Beijing’s new tariffs brought a 600-point drop in the Dow. Yet the index is still up 9 percent for the year, and nearly 30 percent since Trump took office.

And the Dow isn’t the US economy, which is now robust, with 3.2 percent growth last quarter and 3.6 percent unemployment in April, the lowest in half a century. If the country can’t afford to stand up to China now, it never will.

There’s a reason the president isn’t taking heat from Democrats on this one issue, even though top economic adviser Larry Kudlow admits “both sides will suffer” in this trade war: China knows it will suffer worse.

Short-term, US consumers will pay a bit more — on goods that make up less than 2 percent of the nation’s $20.5 trillion economy. But China is at growing risk of losing access to the world’s top market, because Americans can buy from other lower-wage producers if Beijing doesn’t blink.”

  9. The conflict is much larger than just tariffs.

“The unnerving thing about America’s trade war against China is that it is just the start. Donald Trump is fixated on trade balances and tariffs. The US president hankers for the 1950s, when US industry swept aside all before it. Among the swelling community of China hawks in Washington, however, resetting the terms of trade is only an opening shot.

While American and Chinese negotiators were trying and failing to reach a trade deal last week, Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state, was visiting London. His message to Theresa May’s government? Allow China’s Huawei to build any of Britain’s next generation, or 5G, communications network and you can say goodbye to the special relationship.

Back in Washington, Mr Trump announced new measures to effectively ban Huawei from selling technology into the American market and may also prevent it from buying US semiconductors that are crucial for its production.

Six thousand miles away, US warships were steaming through the South China Sea. At the head of a small flotilla of Japanese, Philippine and Indian vessels, the US navy raised another banner. As much as China turns disputed rocks into military outposts to stake its claim to the waters, the US will respond with more freedom of navigation patrols.

Prominent Republicans, meanwhile, were lending support to a new anti-Beijing lobby group. The Committee on the Present Danger: China invokes the cold war against the Soviet Union. The Texan senator Ted Cruz, his colleague Marco Rubio from Florida, and Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, are among those echoing its warnings that China has started a new arms race.

Mr Trump says he hopes to patch something up on trade with Chinese president Xi Jinping when the two meet at the G20 summit in Japan next month. The China hawks have moved on from tariffs. They want essentially to decouple the two nations’ economies.

The president has leaned in this direction with tighter controls on Chinese investment in sensitive sectors of the US economy and new restrictions on Chinese students at US universities. Mr Trump’s answer to complaints that high tariffs are hitting US companies with plants in China is straightforward. Bring the production home. Disentangling American and Chinese supply chains would restore national independence.”

  10. Pushing a terrorist narrative.

“Rashida Tlaib Is Pushing A Terrorist Narrative About Israel

The congresswoman claims her Holocaust remarks were taken ‘out of context.’ But the proper context shows she’s pushing a terrorist narrative about Israel.”

“Rep. Rashida Tlaib, along with 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, have accused Republicans of taking Tlaib’s comments about the Holocaust “out of context.” The problem is, when you put Tlaib’s remarks in the proper context, they’re far worse.

The most generous possible reading of Tlaib is that, in a discussion about why she opposes a two-state solution, she was trying to credit Palestinians for providing Jews a “safe haven,” and saying she’s proud of that—not just proud, but that it gives her a “calming feeling,” because at least her Palestinian ancestors tried to help.

The problem with such a reading is that as matter of history, it’s simply untrue, even laughable, as the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein notes in a thorough fisking and my colleague David Harsanyi argues here. (The grand mufti of Jerusalem during World War II was a Nazi collaborator, for crying out loud.)

But no one really believes Tlaib was trying to argue that Palestinians gave Jews safe haven after the Holocaust. The Democratic congresswoman from Michigan can’t be wholly ignorant of the history of the modern Middle East, and especially the role Arabs played before, during, and after the Holocaust. So far from offering Jews a safe haven, Palestinian Arabs rejected the United Nation’s partition plan in 1947, surrounded Jewish villages, cut off their food and water, and started massacring them.

Like everyone else, Tlaib knows this. She also knows she can’t give her Palestinian forebears credit for helping the Jews while also casting them as victims of Jewish predation. By trying to have it both ways, Tlaib was actually doing something more subtle and insidious than historical revisionism with these remarks: she was mixing western and terrorist narratives about the creation of Israel.”

  11. Huh.

“Here’s the little secret the mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about — women support President Trump. They’re supporting him with their wallets and they’ll support him at the polls in 2020. Shhhhh … these are the kind of pesky facts they like to hide, and then on Election Day they act like they weren’t warned.

    They can consider themselves warned.

The Center for Responsive Politics, which uses Federal Election Commission data, found that during the first three months of 2019 the number of women who donated to President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign topped the number of women who donated to any Democratic candidate running for president, accounting for more than 45 percent of all individual donations.

That means President Trump had more female donors than Kamala Harris, more than Elizabeth Warren, more than Amy Klobuchar, more than Kirsten Gillibrand, and more than Tulsi Gabbard. In fact, wrap your head around this: More women donated to President Trump than to all of the female candidates combined.

That little fact is enough to trigger the left’s Trump Derangement Syndrome and implode the media’s biased heads.”

  12. AJ – Are there any stats on how many “WOC” (women of color) support Trump? There has been an increasing disdain on the left for white women as being privileged and not supporting their sisters of color. So if it is mainly white women supporting Trump, that will only confirm some of their bias. 😦

  13. One of the complaints that pro-choicers have against pro-lifers is that there is an overlap of pro-life people who also are against state help, such as SNAP.

A friend on Facebook shared a cartoon of a group of pro-lifers speaking to the baby in a mother’s womb saying they’ll do whatever they can to protect his life. The next panel shows the baby now in his mother’s arms, and those same people are angrily shouting that she’s on her own now.

Of course, this is a stereotype, but a common one. So Gov. Ivey’s comeback is going to sound to some to be tone-deaf.

  14. Kizzie,

That’s just a bogus narrative. People who aren’t racists could care less. They break it down by state, locality, what business the women are in, economic status and the like. You know, the breakdowns that actually matter. 🙂

Here’s a breakdown by state and city.

    Here’s donor demographics.

  15. The weasels are turning on each other. 🙂

“A former top FBI lawyer said there was concern at the bureau that then-FBI Director James Comey was trying to blackmail then-President-elect Donald Trump with the notorious Steele dossier.

On Tuesday’s Yahoo News podcast “Skullduggery,” James Baker described the atmosphere as “quite worried” after Comey met with Trump on Jan. 6, 2017, shortly before his inauguration. Baker says the way Comey threw the dossier into Trump’s face, it was difficult not to draw “analogies” to the behavior of FBI founding Director J. Edgar Hoover, who ruled federal law enforcement for nearly 50 years.”

Only the first piggy to squeal gets a deal fellas. 🙂

    Plan accordingly.

  16. Kizzie,

And the abortion tripe is more of the same. While it may get plenty of likes from other leftists, it’s a false narrative.

Some pro-abortion lady thinks like most leftists and spouted something similar to what you mentioned…. My reply is this Tweet thread.

    First the stupid Tweet.

Then you can read the responses here.

  17. This smells fishy.

  18. More news from the [not so] great city of Baltimore. For over a week now, their computer systems have been held hostage for a requested ransom of $76,000. It prevents processing of everything from water bill payments to real estate transactions. There is no end in sight and they are predicting anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months for resolution. The question they are wrestling with is if it makes more sense to pay the ransom or spend millions trying to recover from it themselves.

  19. AJ – My comment was in reference to this last sentence in the 8:13 post: “That little fact is enough to trigger the left’s Trump Derangement Syndrome and implode the media’s biased heads” I was pointing out that many on the left already think white women are privileged and not supporting their minority sisters, so I don’t think that will have the effect on them that might be expected.

  20. On some Facebook posts, I have commented about the pro-lifers I am familiar with who do indeed care about the mother and child after the birth as well as before. But then I am always told that I must somehow know the special minority of pro-lifers who do so. 😦

I like that several of those who responded to that tweet asked what she had done herself to help.

  21. To add to my 4:03: “. . .because they will assume that all the women who support Trump are white.”
