  1. Good morning Donna and everyone else but Jo.
Good evening Jo. I hope you have recovered well from the earthquake and there was no permanent damage.

I had some weird “dreams” ?? Thoughts. I say thoughts because I was partly awake thinking this. I was responsible for transportation for someone I couldn’t find.
Real disturbing. they needed me, I was looking for them. But we couldn’t connect.

  2. oh, ho, Michelle is sneaking in here on east coast time.
    Morning all.
I am trying to be good and not get stressed. A bill for our flights to Goroka was supposed to be 432 dollars. That is what I told everyone, oh, divided eight ways. I already charged them and I know even this was a stretch for some. I got the bill last night, it was 720 dollars. So I have been trying to gently communicate, not sure if I managed. I even already asked forgiveness if I offended anyone. But….. I just feel like I can’t charge the others and that is a lot of money for me to absorb. God’s got this, I just need to stretch my trusting.

  3. Jo, did the company overcharge you? Is it possible to go back to them and remind them of the quoted price? Had you based the price you told the others on an earlier fee, or did they add all sorts of expenses, or what? Cuz that’s a huge increase!

That is indeed a peaceful looking porch!

  4. Morning! It is a cloudy foggy day around here. Thunderstorms heading our way later…just as we will be heading into town for Bible study on the interstate… 😳
Dj I love your front porch…so welcoming and lovely. I fear I would find myself sitting out there all the time and get nothing done on the inside! 📚

  5. I pulled a michelle last night and don’t think I slept hardly at all.

I was already having trouble feeling sleepy at around 10:30 when I got a text msg from the port spokesman/our former managing editor asking if I could make just one minor word change in the online version of the port trucking story I wrote yesterday. (A union trucking source had told me Amazon was a tenant of this one warehouse but port source said ‘tenant’ is the wrong way to characterize Amazon’s presence). So I got up, made the change and we texted back a few times after that, his wife is still a designer for our paper group.

Then I was really awake and that status just never changed. I tossed and turned, read, prayed, worried about random stuff, prayed some more, dug out a Christian book I have on why we shouldn’t worry … It’s gonna be a very long day today. 😦

The east-facing porch gets a nice splash of sunshine most mornings so I grabbed that photo yesterday. I’ve also brought some more of the potted flowers up from the backyard to put out front on the steps.

But after work I’ve been sitting on the back patio more often these days as the puppy next door is out too much and he’s a whirlwind of jumping destruction when he bounds up onto the porch to “visit.” And he’s always trying to get into the house as I go back inside with Tess snarling at the cracked front door and just waiting for the chance … One of these days I’m afraid he’ll manage to slip by me and get in.

  6. The bid for my new bedroom ceiling went up substantially but part of that was due to my adding in a ceiling light/fan fixture. Still, it was a bit jarring. If price is going to change from original bid, they need to give you a heads up first and explain why and get your ok.

  7. Thanks for praying Janice (and whoever). The first radiation visit went okay. Ralph goofed in one thing, but it didn’t hold anything up. Soon it will be routine for awhile. 😦 The timing changes after seven days and timing matters as far as eating and drinking. We also have to work around the hour I need for one of my medications, so our breakfasts may be simpler for while or limited to Saturdays. There is no pain during the treatments, which is a blessing. We are close to the facility where they are given, which is another real blessing. Many people have to travel a couple of hours each way. The technicians and everyone involved have been super nice and professional. Prayers that the beams would hit only the cancer and not other tissue is greatly appreciated!

  8. Kathaleena – I don’t remember Hubby having any special timing for eating and drinking. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t any, though, as I could have forgotten that detail.

I’m sure I’ve told you all about how God worked it out for Hubby to get his eight weeks of daily (Monday – Friday) radiation treatments and not miss any work.

Like many offices, the radiation department at the hospital only offered appointments up through a certain time (maybe 5:00), but Hubby’s route and after-route work usually went later. (This was when he was with Hostess/Wonder Bread.) One day, sometime before the treatments were to begin, I was really worrying about that, when the realization came to me that God knew exactly what was needed, and would provide it. A feeling of peace washed over me at that moment.

So what happened? Of the two radiation machines at this hospital, one of them broke down just before Hubby was to start his treatments. That meant that for that period of time – which ended a couple days after Hubby’s treatments ended – they extended their hours into the early evening, and Hubby was able to make it to his appointments without a problem. 🙂

  9. You have my prayers Mumsee. I can’t “like” posts anymore.

I was sitting here thinking about the tragedy in Moscow. I still can’t imagine how it happened.
Not having to do with that, or anything else at this time. But I wondered how many lives the “reverse prop’s” and “reverse thrust” capabilities on planes have saved. It saved mine. Probably thousands of others.

  10. Cheryl, the people in charge of this bill are us. The flight was on our planes. I am being very careful as we are all doing the best we can. Probably should not have even posted on here, but feeling overwhelmed.

  11. We had active shooter training at the office today. It made me realize some changes we need to make. One involves the rear door.
DJ I love the porch. I am going to have to make it back.

I have another difficult situation to handle. I have already spoke to this woman. Others have too. She is older and a Christian. My problem is she writes and says hateful things. She writes anti-gay and anti-Muslim poetry. She comes into the office after hours to copy it and email it from the copy machine to who knows who. She leaves it lying around. The main problem is that when she emails from the copy machine it goes out as FrontDesk123 @ company. I can’t have that going out from our company. That is hate speech. Today I had to turn off her copier access. If she needs legitimate copies I will make them for her.

  12. Yeah, that’s definitely not good to have those things going out tied to the business.

I have to cover a 7 p.m. meeting, I tried to avoid doing it but it’s really the only way I am going to get the info I need for a homeless story I’m doing this week. Meetings like this help because you have all the info being spilled in one place, you get comments on both sides of some of the issues, if you’re lucky, and by the time you leave you have most everything you need to write the story without having to scramble around calling people and piecing everything together.

The down side, of course, is a late night and a disrupted personal schedule.

  13. okay, I appreciate your prayers, the aviation issue is resolved. They are going to honor their original quote. I hate making waves, but this needed to be done. Someone else spoke to me today and said for a charter you go by the quote. So relieved and hopefully I didn’t ruin any relationships.

  14. Jo, I’m so glad. That certainly would be my expectation, that basing a trip on a price quote (airline ticket or otherwise) should mean the price will be as quoted.
