Prayer Requests 3-15-19

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 42

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”
These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One
with shouts of joy and praise
    among the festive throng.

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
   Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

My soul is downcast within me;
    therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
   all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.

By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

I say to God my Rock,
    “Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
    as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
   Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

  1. After being sick for a week and sleeping soundly with meds, I’m much improved.

I have steadfastly refused to take Nyquil the last night since I have felt better (My doctor warned me against taking it too long). I have been rewarded by three miserable nights of insomnia.

I have a busy day followed by a challenging travel afternoon, finally arriving–I hope not too late–at a retreat where I do not know a soul.

I’m praying for spiritual growth and insight into what I’m doing with myself these days.

I rarely sleep well, anyway, but particularly away from home.

Please pray as the Lord put me on your heart.

  2. Prayer for our leaders, from the tiniest church to the nation. And for those in the public eye, entertainment, sports, etc. (you know who you watch or follow) who have proclaimed faith in Christ, that they may remain strong and grow in Him.

  3. Mostly a praise: We’re getting the electrical work done this week and next, and much of it has now been completed. We now have working outlets in both bathrooms and outside on our patio, and I had one added in the hall (why do halls rarely have outlets? it’s the best place to plug in a vacuum–it can reach several rooms, and it probably won’t already have things plugged into it or be covered by furniture). He replaced the broken light in one bathroom and moved the one in the other bathroom. We have two more overhead lights for him to rework (they are currently turned on by pull cords, with wires looped across the ceiling and then plugged into the wall, and we want them to be able to be turned on with wall switches) and two new ones for him to hang (one in my office and one in my husband’s studio). We also want a new circuit for the microwave so we can put it into the kitchen and not the dining room. He moved a wall switch in the kitchen to a more convenient wall. We’ve been making a list since before we moved in; we’ll have been here almost ten months when he finishes, and it will be great to get it all done! My husband replaced the dining room chandelier himself, but this other stuff is beyond his expertise. With the new dishwasher we got a week or two, it’ll be almost like having a whole new house! Then it will be time to finish up both bathrooms and move into completing other areas. The condo is nearly 40 years old and most of what we have redone was original to the house, and other things are just making it more usable, but it is a lot.

After all this, my husband’s laptop is failing and he needs a new one, so we need finances to come together. Another big project for me as I wrap up the ones I’m currently working on would be nice.
