Snow in Vegas? I guess we can’t hope that “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” holds true this time, since we’re supposed to get more “heaven’s fertilizer” tonight.
An old farmer called snow by that term. And when you realize that what ever is in the sky comes down in precipitation, it makes sense. The soil needs nitrogen and there is plenty of that in the atmosphere.
Morning! There is no mistaking where “Waldo” is in that photo! He is beautiful! How I miss spotting a cardinal out in the yard…I suppose they need a tad bit more oxygen than what we can provide around here.
A dusting of snow overnight and 3 degrees again on this very dark morning. A break in the snow until this evening then perhaps 3 more inches…people are starting to complain around these parts…..but not me!! 😊
Cardinals are such a fresh spot of color. We have them in enormous numbers here–as I knew we would, since this is perfect cardinal breeding territory. They breed low to the ground, in shrubbery or short trees, and thus lose many nestlings to predators. So an area with lots of shrubbery would undoubtedly make nesting a much safer activity!
Checking in from beautiful Rainbow Springs, Florida, where the high today is predicted to be around 80. On Sunday we rode 29 miles on the Jacksonville trail and I did 20 yesterday on the Withlacoochee State trail (hot dog hubby hurt himself by doing 40). Having a wonderful time; wish you were here. 🙂
Sixteen here and expecting 8-12 inches of the heavy snow. Wish you were here. We could all go out and shovel the driveway. All three hundred feet of it. But you are not so it will remain unshoveled.
DJ, why do you keep your heating vent and floor outside?
Husband has learned that the new tenants are Baptist and the guy has already found the nearby Baptist church in prep for his family arriving in a month.

NancyJill, and Michelle of course, we bought the house next door to daughter in Boise. We do not anticipate moving there soon, if ever. We had a renter moved in the afternoon of the day we bought it. Seems like a good family and though they only signed a one year lease, it sounds like they may be interested in extending that. We may decide we are done here and need to move down but don’t anticipate it until the last reaches eighteen. She is eleven now. But I had told daughter we would only buy a house in Boise if the one next door came available. The house across the street came open right after I said that. We pursued it but it went to others. Then this one opened right next door and the owner was willing to work with us, in a very hot market. She could easily have asked thirty or forty thousand more. It appears God is moving us toward Boise. Much as we love it here, relationships are more important than locations. The house itself does not matter at all. I have never been in it and have barely glanced at it in the past other than to note it had Virginia Creeper growing on the fence next to daughter and the berries on those are toxic.

I visited Kim’s family in my dreams last night. She had to tell me the bad news that I didn’t have enough credits to graduate from college as planned and the only hope was for me to take a geography test at the JC that day and hope I scored enough to get the credits for a diploma.
That Kim. Always keeping us on our toes . . .
OTOH, if I don’t pass that geography test, does that mean UCLA will stop asking me for money?
Rain measured in swimming pools seems pretty normal to me.
I’m off to cover speeches by maxine & ted, our local congress-people, at a free lunch. fun times.
And we received our marching orders today about the upcoming move which has nearly everyone upset. We are losing more people, including one of our best crime reporters and our Rams reporter, with no new hires expected as our company is too busy trying to spend money on buying out Gannett.
Jo, no the office move will be farther away so I will probably be working out of our sister paper’s office across the harbor which is much closer, along with working from home. I really don’t want to add a longer commute.
Moving day is March 11.
Last time we moved (out of the building our newspaper company owned) it was a really big and sad event, recorded and set to music by our photographers.
We’ve been here for 10 years, we filled the space when we moved in and now there are 3 of us left in a sea of sad, empty desks. We have no photo staff left to do a video of this move out, but it’s probably just as well. The newsrooms are all getting moved into “shared work spaces” with other companies so we’ll basically have desks they’ll lease for us somewhere on a month-to-month basis. Cost savings. The new one is next to Mattel but is really not very central to our particular coverage area and is farther north than even this current office is for me. Commute would change from about 12-15 miles to probably 20+ (one way) and with more traffic.
Now Janice has a number of follow-up appointments for I forget how long, keeping track of her eye drops schedule for each eye, and then she can get her eyes checked again by her usual eye doctor. At least, that’s the way it worked with me. Does that sound about right, Janice?
At the time, it all seemed to drag on, but when it was all over, it was such a relief.
I am home safely and in one piece. The Kid on the staff reserved what looked like a nice AirBnB. It was on the inside. On the outside, we were smack dab in the ghetto. We had a Tent City under the Mississippi River Bridge one block from us.
Today as we were leaving we had some “goodie” bags left over from one of our vendors. They had water, chips, beef jerky, lip balm, and candy in them. We left the box of them on the sidewalk. I am sure they disappeared as soon as we drove off.
I’m guessing there is a wee little lamb at Mumsee’s….I need to move to a sheep farmlette but my Mr said I could not just keep them as pets. I shall just keep going down the road to visit Mr Amon’s sheep….he keeps his as pets…. 😊 🐑
Yep, NancyJill is correct. She is up and walking around out in the snow. But, because she appears to be a she (I am not going in there with that ram!), she will probably live out her years munching pasture and hay.

Elvera has a picture of Bob Collins on August 15, 1945, not specifically celebrating, but obviously happy that he didn’t have to invade Japan.
He was in the Iwo Jima battle.
Bob died several years ago. Of the seven Collins children, only Elvera and her sister are left.
My husband is watching a basketball game with the video from one source, the audio from another (he doesn’t like the reporters who are announcing the TV game, so he has it on the radio sound). It makes for some funny juxtapositions during the commercials. We just heard one that is talking about transferring family wealth (a finance company) while the imagery was guys in stocking caps stealing from a truck.
I’ve done that before. Listen to the radio instead of the TV announcers, that is, I would never steal from a truck. I used to listen to Monday Night Football on the radio because I didn’t like listening to Howard Cosell drone on and on.
I think I mentioned before, the TV action is behind the actual event. The reason for this is that “Sonny, Sam and Frank” used to announce Redskins football. Sonny & Sam, former Redskin players and Frank Hertzog the announcer.
They announced and commented on the action They encouraged ,”Turn the TV down and listen to the radio”>
They now put the TV action behind the actual events.
I don’t know about other sports..

No snow here! But I have a cloud in my eye about to be removed. Thanks for prayers for a successful surgery near lunch time.
The sky looks quite cloudy but we may not get as much rain as first predicted. Thankful, thankful.
