  1. The Uyghur people are a Turkic ethnic group spread across a few countries in Central Asia, the biggest population being in NWC (North West China) with large populations in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well.

The Uyghur people predominately practice Islam. The Uyghurs do not have a land they can fully call their own. Always surrounded by other peoples and cultures they fight hard to cling to their own language and identity.

    Please pray…
For the Uyghur’s political situation: the more oppressed they are, the more passionate about their Muslim faith they become. Pray that even in intense political climates, with no hope of it ending or escaping, that they will hear Jesus calling them, and they will find hope in Him.

The believers to be strong in their faith, remembering what they have learned and standing for Jesus even when it means they will be more oppressed and rejected. Pray they would have a passion for their own people and would share Jesus and His hope without fear.

The Uyghur Bible is still being translated. This is a long and difficult task given the extreme security issues. Pray for the completion of the translation and pray in advance that when the Word of God goes out, it will achieve its purpose and not return void.

  2. Note that this is only the latest stage in a long running campaign against the Uyghurs, who are considered second class citizens in the People’s Republic, as the ethnic prejudice against them by the Han majority in China has deep roots. It was already bad enough before that Uyghurs were fleeing west into countries such as Afghanistan. A particularly egregious case of Guantanamo detainees were the twenty two Uyghur men who had been handed over to the U.S. military, although they were innocent of any militant activity, by greedy bounty hunters in Afghanistan who wanted the hefty reward offered for the capture of any militants and didn’t really care who they captured. The Uyghur men were eventually released from Guantanamo when it became clear they were completely innocent, but became stateless, since China would have only detained and tortured them, and ended up scattered in remote countries offering them asylum: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/dec/31/uighur-men-leave-guantanamo-bay-slovakia

  3. Nightingale is feeling a lot of frustration and stress over some things in her life, particularly a couple matters with The Boy. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to soften her heart, show her her need for Jesus, and draw her to Him. Thank you.

  4. Janice, the other day, you mentioned being overwhelmed by the masses to be prayed for. In my Bible I have several missionary prayer cards to remind me to pray for them. Usually they have specific areas they ask for prayer, but generally, I always try to pray along the lines of Eph 1: 15-19 for the believers.

For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints, do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray the the eyes your heart may be enlightened so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints; and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. Eph 1:15-19

In another part of my Bible, with a picture of one of my children, I keep another prayer handy to remind me to pray for the nonbelievers as well, Eph 3: 14-19

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that he would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Eph, 3 !4-19
