Prayer Requests 1-12-19

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 135

Praise the Lord.

   Praise the name of the Lord;
    praise him, you servants of the Lord,
you who minister in the house of the Lord,
    in the courts of the house of our God.

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
    sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own,
    Israel to be his treasured possession.

I know that the Lord is great,
    that our Lord is greater than all gods.
The Lord does whatever pleases him,
    in the heavens and on the earth,
    in the seas and all their depths.
He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth;
    he sends lightning with the rain
    and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

He struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
    the firstborn of people and animals.
He sent his signs and wonders into your midst, Egypt,
    against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 He struck down many nations
    and killed mighty kings—
11 Sihon king of the Amorites,
    Og king of Bashan,
    and all the kings of Canaan—
12 and he gave their land as an inheritance,
    an inheritance to his people Israel.

13 Your name, Lord, endures forever,
    your renown, Lord, through all generations.
14 For the Lord will vindicate his people
    and have compassion on his servants.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
    made by human hands.
16 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
    eyes, but cannot see.
17 They have ears, but cannot hear,
    nor is there breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them will be like them,
    and so will all who trust in them.

19 All you Israelites, praise the Lord;
    house of Aaron, praise the Lord;
20 house of Levi, praise the Lord;
    you who fear him, praise the Lord.
21 Praise be to the Lord from Zion,
    to him who dwells in Jerusalem.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. Please pray for my Nightingale. Last night, she started a streak of working seven days straight, with a couple double shifts in there. She is working 2nd shift again tonight, and then 1st shift tomorrow (followed by a double on Monday), so this morning and into the afternoon, she was planning and getting together as much as she could for her meals and snacks for work for the next several days. That ended up taking more time than she thought it would, leaving her only a few minutes to cuddle with The Boy before she had to get into her scrubs and leave.

    During that time, The Boy was mostly in the living room with me, but also got into some trouble on and off with his mom. At one point, she came back from being upstairs for a few minutes, and it looked like she may have been crying (or trying not to). She definitely looked somewhat upset.

    I think she was upset about how things were going between her and The Boy, and that she would have so little time with him over the next several days. She is the one who suggested they cuddle for a few minutes. (He is still a cuddler, and will often request it himself.) I feel bad for her because he can be difficult, and she is the one who needs to be the stricter disciplinarian, and then he goes off to be with his fun dad two or three times a week. (He’s having an overnight with him tonight.)

    Anyway, this is kind of long and is probably more detailed than necessary, but please pray that Nightingale will finally lay her burdens down at the foot of the cross. Oh, how she needs Jesus! (As do we all.) As she shoulders these stresses and burdens in her life, I often wish she could take them to the Lord in prayer, knowing that He would give her the wisdom and comfort that she needs.

  2. My godson David was in DisneyWorld with entire family– parents, siblings, grandmother, wife, 3 year old twins and 3 month old baby.

    Thankfully, his mother is a physician, and when she grew concerned over his fever, insisted he visit the ER.

    They didn’t know he had diabetes– nor did he, and his health was dire.

    He’s home now, kids had a great time at Disney with aunts and uncles, but his health is still not back, coupled with all he will now have to adapt to.

    Wife just quit to stay home with kids, he starts a new sales job soon– and he’ll be traveling a lot.

    Please pray for this family whose life has just been upended. And thank God his mom was there to oversee his care during a five day stay in the hospital.
