Prayer Requests 1-10-19

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 133

How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!

It is like precious oil poured on the head,
    running down on the beard,
   running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
    were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
    even life forevermore.

  1. I was reading Matthew 10:30 this morning. “The hairs on your head are numbered”.
Not only is that an amazing fact, but it dawned on me.
    HE CARES!
God cares about the smallest thing that is happening in my life. It ain’t fun, believe me. But He knows all about it and has everything under control.
My problem is in deciding how I can control all of this.
The answer is, “You don’t take control”.
    So? What do I do?
    The next right thing.
It has worked out so far. Trust and obey, that’s all.

I can’t find it in scripture, but I believe the gospel song that says, “We’ll understand it all by and by.”

  2. One of my daughters once told me this was her favorite song. She was in middle school age-wise and I was very surprised. Not sure if that is still true, but it is not a bad one for a favorite at any age.

  3. This may not be the correct thread for it. But it’s where I approached the subject.
    Anyhow. Here goes:

I like Elvis’s rendition. And I believe that someday we will understand it all. Though I can’t find it in scripture. But it may turn out that, in eternity, which I don’t understand, it may be that none of this matters. This is such a short blip in eternity.
But I hope we will know each other.

Elvis was recently featured on the Gather Gospel hour. He used to sing in a Pentecostal church as a young man. Though his life didn’t reflect it, he understood the Gospel
I have posted the same thing about Hank Williams, whom I followed more. I liked Hank, but not Elvis.

  4. Also, please pray that Art and I (and Miss Bosley) will not be too sad when Wesley leaves. We have really had to rely on him a lot, more than ever, and he came through for us. We will miss him as usual, but even more so because of the vacancy of having a reliable helper.

  5. We know much from Scripture, but ultimately there also is the incomprehensibility of God …

Prayers for Carol who seems to be a little better, she’s getting physical therapy and is walking more, thankfully. Her legs have been very swollen but now are going down but she says they are still somewhat red — and I was bothered that the doctor who stops by weekly didn’t see her personally this last Monday. 😦

She’s counting on me taking her out on the 19th, a couple Saturdays away, to get her pension paperwork notarized and to get a money order for her rent. I keep telling her “that’s the plan,” but remind her to keep up that daily walking, make sure she’s using the bathroom regularly again — she’s been laid up for some time now and I’m sure going out will be a physical strain. She insists “NO,” she can do it. But she’s had so many issues just getting in and out of my car during this past year.

And she’d piled up some other stops for that Saturday as was evident when we talked last night that I had to stop her and say only two stops, no more.

  6. We shall know as we are known. Now we see as through a glass, darkly, but then we will see face to face.

We won’t ever know “everything,” or we would cease to be finite creatures, but we will know “enough.” And for now, we know enough for now.

  7. Out of the blue, The Boy entered the living room and told me that if I die and don’t go to Heaven (he doesn’t know about hell yet), then I’ll know that God is not real. There was a little back and forth between us, and then he expressed that he is afraid to die.

I started to tell him that I am not afraid to die, because I believe in God and Jesus, but then he blurted out that they’re not real, and walked out of the room.

These brief conversations make me uncomfortable, and sometimes distress me, and yet I also see that something must be going on inside his spirit for him to keep coming back to the subject.

May the Holy Spirit convince his spirit, heart, and mind of God’s Truth. (Maybe I don’t have to say all those as separate parts of his soul, but I want to be sure to cover all bases. 🙂 )

  8. See, he’s working on trying to figure it out. His parents haven’t given him any hope. You just keep on, keeping on, Kizzie. You’re the only one in his life who knows the truth and is confident.

What does he think has happened to Lee?

  9. I guess he thinks that Papa has simply ceased to exist. I’m pretty sure that’s what Nightingale believes. How sad.

During our brief conversation the other night, I told him that Papa is in Heaven.

  10. Can you see the air or the wind? Just because you might not “believe” in them, does not mean they’re not there or have no effect on your life.

  11. Thanking the Lord that Jayme Closs has been located and will be released from the hospital shortly according to local news reports. Someone has been arrested in the case. Pray for her. Her parents were both murdered and she has been missing since that time.
