Prayer Requests 12-6-18

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 118:1-14

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.

Let Israel say:
    “His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say:
    “His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say:
    “His love endures forever.”

When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord;
    he brought me into a spacious place.
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper.
    I look in triumph on my enemies.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in humans.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in princes.
10 All the nations surrounded me,
    but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
11 They surrounded me on every side,
    but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
12 They swarmed around me like bees,
    but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them down.
13 I was pushed back and about to fall,
    but the Lord helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and my defense;
    he has become my salvation.

  1. If you prayed for me yesterday, thank you. The day vastly improved when I took time out to sit in the blue chair, read Scripture, cry and allow the Holy Spirit to gather my soul back together.

    Interesting, too, how many appointments got canceled and ended up at a much better time for me, thus easing some of the day’s pressures.

    🙂

  2. We’ll be traveling this weekend–the fourth weekend in five for me, I think–to Santa Barbara for a family party. That’s eight hours of driving each way for a 3-4 hour party, but it’s his birthday!

    I’m not looking forward to the drive–except, then I realized it will give my husband and me a weekend away together, including all that car time. That would be good. The last few months have been an emotional haul for me and he’s been a champ through it all.

    What a blessing it is to have such a wonderful spouse. Thanks be to God.

    Anyway, if you think of us, travel mercies on that long drive. Thanks.

  3. My distant-cousin-by-marriage Debbie is grieving hard. She lost her husband back in May, unexpectedly. (I think he had a heart attack at home.) Her sister is a nun, but I don’t know if Debbie has faith in God in any way. Please pray for her to know our Heavenly Father, and His comfort. (And for her young-adult son and daughter. The younger one, the daughter, graduated high school a little over a month after her dad’s death.)

    Prayers for me and mine always appreciated, too. I casually mentioned something about Hubby at our dinner with Chickadee last night, and I could see her pause and remember, and her eyes got a bit teary. It’s still hard for all of us.
