Prayer Requests 11-6-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

  1. This Psalm is the one my grandmother gave to my mother when she left home for more schooling. My mother, in turn, gave it to me when I first left home for more schooling. Somehow it seems appropriate for today. I did not mention this yesterday evening, because it was late when I finally had time to come on here, but could you pray for us, for the healthcare team, and for the hamlet? Two nights ago, one of the nurses who lives in separate housing woke up to find a male intruder in her room. The intruder left before the police could get there and was unknown to the nurse, so he remains at large. We do not feel in immediate danger, as the building we live in is much more secure in its construction and there are several other healthcare workers who also live in the same building, but the reverberations of this incident could prove devastating for the nurse, for the healthcare team, and for the community. I cannot go into all the particular reasons why, but trust is essential in any relationship.

  2. That is scary. 😦

    Prayers for you, Chas, and Elvera. Such sad news.

    Kizzie, my brother also had that bacteria given to him. They thought the cancer was in the lining, but it turned out to be in the muscle, hence the additional surgery. They do believe this will solve that problem, but who knows. We are all at the age where we cannot be surprised at the body’s frailty and yet….

  3. I am feeling a little discouraged. I am considering the source; someone said yesterday that I wasn’t good at planning events and that the new person he is looking to hire will take that on. That is something I thought I did well. I enjoy it. Then to be told I wasn’t good at it. It hurt. I know I should probably put on my big girl panties and deal but I don’t want to. I want to be upset for just a little while then I will get over it.

  4. A family member who has disowned another family member (without good cause) has now turned his/her sights on me. I received a long, ugly, and totally unjust e-mail this morning and am having a hard time focusing on things I need to do today.

  5. What I have learned: it is really easy for me to take a scathing email and turn it around in my mind to show what a disgusting unbelievably stupid person the sender is, or how awful I must be for them to think that, so I should take every thought captive. Easier said than done, so I ask Him to take every thought captive for me. He does! Praying for you both.

  6. Step mother in law is in the hospital. Went with a severe headache and they found her blood pressure was spiked. It is still up several hours later. She had several mini strokes in the past. Wisdom as to whether or not husband should head over. His dad is ninety.
