Morning! Oh if ya’ll could just see the orange hues of a rising sun peeking through these pines!! Breathtaking I tell ya!!
That is a beautiful photo of fall up there….is there a Waldo hiding in there somewhere? 😊
Thanx Peter, but I don’t have time for them now.
So? Where am I?
I’m taking Elvera to the Adult Center. She goes there for four hours on Wed and Fri.
Then, in the meantime, I am having lunch with my SS class. We meet together the first Friday in the month.
So? I will see you folks sometime this afternoon.
At choir last night the conversation turned to the weather. It was 80 degrees. Half of us were wearing sandals and two of us are still growing tomatoes!
We did pull out the green bean vines yesterday.
Next weekend I’ll be attending an outdoor wedding in Salt Lake City. I expect to wear my camel’s hair coat and boots. I’ll carry my dancing shoes in my purse!
It’s the Italian side of the family. We’ll have fun no matter what!
I stopped to visit the newest Adorable and siblings last night on my way to choir. I got to rock a sleeping baby then went to choir where we sang an Advent lullaby about rocking a sleeping baby. Sweet. 🙂
Yes. We all want to know. I received a photo the other day and it is looking really good.
It has led us to another idea, which I am sure will surprise no one.
We have a crawler!
On the prayer thread, I mentioned that Nightingale is going to pick up Chickadee on her way home from work and Chickadee is going to spend the night. We are having a Girls’ Scary Movie Night.
Nightingale is also gonna pick up some pizza for all of us (including The Boy) for dinner. She will take The Boy to football practice from 5:30 to 7:30, during which time Chickadee and I will watch a movie together. After Nightingale gets home and gets The Boy to sleep (please say a little prayer he will go to sleep quickly), she will join us for another movie. We will have popcorn and some other goodies to snack on.
We are all looking forward to our fun time together. Originally, this was a plan for just Chickadee and myself, but Nightingale thought it sounded fun, and wanted to be included. The way it is working out, we will have both – time for just Chickadee and me, and time for all three of us “girls”. 🙂
While it’s warm in the daytime, the nights are getting quite chilly. I usually turn on the heater in the mornings for the first time at some point in November but I try to hold out as long as possible.
The house. Sigh. I mentioned last night that since head painter’s mom was in the hospital for more tests, Sidekick went to town, sanding and painting the back sliding door and large window next to it (both were new, installed about a year and a half ago).
Yesterday, I was very surprised to drive into the driveway after dark and see that he’d even painted the garage door. Except … We had special industrial-formula paint and primer for that as it’s steel and was going to require a very durable paint, not the regular paint used on the house. I have no idea if he knew that but i doubt it. Lead painter has been chattering for a week or more about how tricky that would be to paint and I have a feeling he had no idea Sidekick was just going to up and do that on his own yesterday. (A gallon of the special paint was in the garage, ordered by me as part of the original paint purchase and on the strong recommendation of the paint store for that particular surface.)
So far silence from main painter following a text I sent asking him about it last night, so I’m interpreting that to mean that no, Sidekick probably didn’t know about all of that and just zoomed ahead on his own without checking to paint the garage door yesterday.
Painter’s mom is now home which makes it more unlikely for him to come over, in my mind. Why he didn’t take some time to scoot over here to at least check in on things in the past couple days, I don’t know. His mom was not in crisis mode, they were just doing some more tests and the hospital is probably 2 miles from here. I guess he just stayed with her full time or something. Sweet, but she probably could have used the rest if he’d taken just 1-2 hours to come over here to check on his worker and what he was doing?
Painter is still the one responsible for the job and should have been keeping at least phone tabs on his worker through the past few days and it sounds to me like maybe he wasn’t. I doubt there’s much that can be done for the garage door if the wrong paint and primer were used. Either it’ll wear OK or (more likely) it won’t.
But the short answer is that the house is very nearly done. I think.
DJ – Have you thought about printing off a couple of those articles rebutting the weird Sabbath ideas, and giving them to the guy that has been preaching that stuff at you?
AJ, the vivid green evergreens and subtle fall shades still make a very pretty contrast.
I’ve just been out taking some fall shots. We do have some individual trees that are pretty, just the overall season isn’t spectacular, and it’s late. The year we married, we would have been home from our honeymoon now, and we honeymooned in the Smokies (further south) and it was peak the week we were there. To be just getting past peak here is pretty late.
The leaves here have been spectacular. Brilliant reds, yellows, oranges, etc. Late in turning as we often have the poplars turn in August but they are just now losing their leaves. Same with the willows. Sadly, I noticed some of the apple trees are leafing out now. They seem to think it spring. Son in Colorado mentioned his pear tree blossoming last month. Does not bode well for lots of fruit next spring but we certainly had plenty and still have this fall. I picked apples this morning from the tree that has dropped its leaves and is now leafing out.
Isn’t it more of a garnish? For water, etc. Or Lime pie I suppose, too?
I do remember people used to take a shot of tequila, then lick some salt from their hand and then take a bite of a lime slice ? Or something like that. I may have the order wrong. I have no first-hand experience at that, but I remember seeing people do it in Mexico & in CA ‘back in the day.’ I guess it was sort of like a consuming a margarita in separate steps?
It does, but it keeps me from getting into the chocolate chip cookies I made yesterday. I peeled this one, quartered it and I suck on a quarter at a time. Kind of like having a piece of candy melt in my mouth without the sugar..
We also introduced peanut butter today. NOW the doctors are saying that the reason children have all these food allergies…. Well, I could have told them that. Children didn’t have all these food allergies when they ate off of adult’s plates as soon as they reached for it.
No reaction so far. Now she and grandpa are going down for their afternoon nap.
We have some areas with lots of beautiful trees. But mostly the browns and rust colored ones. There is a maple up the street from us that looks spectacular.
When we drove across central New York state and through Massachusetts last month I thought the foliage on the rolling hills was striking. I haven’t traveled enough in the fall to know how it compares with other years, but it was better than what we usually see here in SE Michigan.
Nightingale forgot to pick up her sister on her way home from work! 😀
She’s gone out to get her now, and to pick up the pizza on their way back.
The Boy is disappointed. It has been probably six or seven weeks since he’s seen his beloved Auntie (it’s been a month for Nightingale and me) but he won’t have much time with her this evening because of football practice, and then having to get to bed a little after they get home from that. But I told him she’ll be here in the morning, so he can spend some time with her then.
Hoping (and praying) he won’t have trouble falling asleep tonight.
Well, there were a couple delays, so they all got home just in time for The Boy to get his football gear on and he and his mom to get out the door again.
So Chas, are you saying the picture was taken in Entmoot (from the Lord of the Rings trilogy) and that is an Ent? (From Wikipedia: “Ents are a race of beings in J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy world Middle-earth who closely resemble trees.”
Good morning everyone but Jo.
Good night Jo.
Just checking in.

Hey, did any part of the country have good fall color this year? Ours wasn’t bad, but wasn’t really anything special and it’s quite late.
