Prayer Requests 8-13-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 5

Listen to my words, Lord,
    consider my lament.
Hear my cry for help,
    my King and my God,
    for to you I pray.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
    in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly.
For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
    with you, evil people are not welcome.
The arrogant cannot stand
    in your presence.
   You hate all who do wrong;
  you destroy those who tell lies.
   The bloodthirsty and deceitful
    you, Lord, detest.
But I, by your great love,
    can come into your house;
   in reverence I bow down
    toward your holy temple.

Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness
    because of my enemies—
    make your way straight before me.
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
    their heart is filled with malice.
   Their throat is an open grave;
    with their tongues they tell lies.
10 Declare them guilty, O God!
    Let their intrigues be their downfall.
   Banish them for their many sins,
    for they have rebelled against you.
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
    let them ever sing for joy.
   Spread your protection over them,
    that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

12 Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous;
    you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

  1. Alisha will take her two children to school this morning and then report to my house–where we will begin building a new website.

    The timing is good for her–this should consume her mind as she continues to grieve the loss of the baby she should have been holding this morning as she takes her girls to school.

    It’s not like I don’t have a gazillion other things to do . . . but I’m thankful for whatever the Lord brings to pass. This is a big job. I have nearly 800 blog posts to migrate over to whatever new site we put together.

    For me the prayer is I can make decisions. Good decisions would be even better. I’m so tired and this type of work overwhelms me.

    Fortunately, Alisha can handle the engineering end. It helps, in things like this, to have a family full of tech people. Pity them having to deal with me . . .

  2. Michelle – Why do you need a new website?

    What you said about being grateful for the techy people in your family to help you reminds me of how grateful I am for Nightingale. I was starting to feel overwhelmed about a problem that will need to be dealt with in our basement, including a lot of junk that needs to be taken to the dump eventually. Then Nightingale brought the subject up last night, along with her plans for dealing with it (I didn’t even know she was making any plans about it), and I remembered that I am not alone in this.

    May God save and bless my faithful, responsible daughter. And also my sweet Chickadee and The Boy, of course.

    Speaking of Chickadee, she touched my heart the other day, reminding me of when we used to watch movies together every now and then as a special time for the two of us. What touched me was that she said she enjoyed those times a lot, and missed them. So we decided that sometime this fall we are going to have a sleep-over and watch a couple movies. It was sweet to me that she was enthusiastic about that idea.

  3. The “theme” on my website is 9 years old and is no longer updated or supported by WordPress. Alisha can’t maintain it properly anymore and compared to the modern website design, it needs work. More photos less text. It will be interesting to see what we come up with.

    Yes, I’m a walking tech/electronics disaster and for some reason God decided my husband needed a woman to save when he fell in love with me. Sigh.

  4. Haha — can’t wait to see what you come up with 🙂

    Kizzie, that’s real encouragement from both your daughters. Blessings indeed.

    Hauling away junk — it can be expensive, which seems so crazy to me. And I think out here you have to pay to dump it somewhere on top of figuring out how to load and transport it. I guess that’s why the junk-hauler companies do a fairly brisk business, they load it all up and it’s gone — but usually for a substantial sum of money. Real Estate Guy always said the best workers are those who just haul away the junk from the job (your old bathroom fixtures, etc.) without question or extra charge. They maybe can turn it around and make money off of it in those instances.

    I do think I had my old spare room toilet sitting in the backyard for some time. One day I came home and it was gone, poof. Fine with me, I was wondering how the heck I was going to get rid of that thing.

    Some items we can put out at the curb and it’ll (probably) get taken in time around here.

  5. DJ – When the time comes, we will decide between hauling away stuff ourselves, in several trips, along with paying the fees at the dump, or hiring one of those companies that deposits a dumpster in your driveway and then picks it up and takes it away.

  6. Made the decisions without a total collapse, but at one point I went outside to hang clothes on the line to escape. Alisha left with good ideas.

    We also talked a bit about Ava’s loss. The little guy is due in a couple weeks and we’re both struggling a little to separate events. Someone she barely knew told her a similar story about losing a baby at 28 weeks that helped Alisha put things into perspective. The healing continues.
