Prayer Requests 7-26-18

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 140

Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers;
    protect me from the violent,
who devise evil plans in their hearts
    and stir up war every day.
They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s;
    the poison of vipers is on their lips.

Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
    protect me from the violent,
    who devise ways to trip my feet.
The arrogant have hidden a snare for me;
    they have spread out the cords of their net
    and have set traps for me along my path.

I say to the Lord, “You are my God.”
    Hear, Lord, my cry for mercy.
Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer,
    you shield my head in the day of battle.
Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord;
    do not let their plans succeed.

Those who surround me proudly rear their heads;
    may the mischief of their lips engulf them.
10 May burning coals fall on them;
    may they be thrown into the fire,
    into miry pits, never to rise.
11 May slanderers not be established in the land;
    may disaster hunt down the violent.

12 I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor
    and upholds the cause of the needy.
13 Surely the righteous will praise your name,
    and the upright will live in your presence.

  1. My uncle had a heart attack this week, is hospitalized and confused about where he is and why he’s there. He is close to his 83rd birthday — it’s in late July sometime.

    Prayers appreciated. Thank you.

  2. Chickadee is coming for a visit tomorrow, and staying overnight, and will also be here for the day on Saturday, helping me with The Boy (although that is not the primary purpose for her visiting).

    Tomorrow is the only day she can be dropped off, but Nightingale will not have time to take her back. She and The Boy will be at the Boy Scout camp all day and into the evening, as the week ends with a dinner, a bonfire, and other festivities, so they won’t be home until late. So I thought that would mean that Chickadee would pass on the visit. But it was her idea to spend the night, even knowing that Nightingale is working the next day and we will be taking care of The Boy.

    I feel very encouraged by that, and am very much looking forward to our time alone together tomorrow. (On her visit last week, we both thought we’d have some time alone for a few hours, but The Boy didn’t go to Rec that day. I was disappointed, but I was also pleased that she expressed her disappointment to me, saying she had much the same idea as I had.)

    Anyway, please pray we will have a nice time together, and that there will be opportunity for us to talk. (What I mean by that is that she will initiate talking about herself and her life, as I refrain from asking too many questions.) And that she will see Jesus in me. Thank you.

  3. Chickadee just texted me. The reason she is staying overnight is because the McKs’ apartment house is being fumigated for bedbugs and they need to be out of the house for a while. Fortunately, they have not had any in their apartment, and this is mostly precautionary. (But please pray anyway that none of the little buggers happen to travel into my house.)

    She is also bringing one of the McKs’ cats with her. Someone else will be taking the other two cats and the dog, and the McKs will be staying in a motel.
