Prayer Requests 5-12-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 94:1-15

The Lord is a God who avenges.
    O God who avenges, shine forth.
Rise up, Judge of the earth;
    pay back to the proud what they deserve.
How long, Lord, will the wicked,
    how long will the wicked be jubilant?

They pour out arrogant words;
    all the evildoers are full of boasting.
They crush your people, Lord;
    they oppress your inheritance.
They slay the widow and the foreigner;
    they murder the fatherless.
They say, “The Lord does not see;
    the God of Jacob takes no notice.”

Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;
    you fools, when will you become wise?
Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
    Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
    Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
11 The Lord knows all human plans;
    he knows that they are futile.

12 Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord,
    the one you teach from your law;
13 you grant them relief from days of trouble,
    till a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not reject his people;
    he will never forsake his inheritance.
15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
    and all the upright in heart will follow it.

  1. Please pray for my friend W. She lost her 24 year old daughter in February of 2017 to a heroin overdose. Last week she put her 28 year old son into rehab. You would think that going to the mortuary and seeing his baby sister would have made him not want to follow her or hurt his mother. It didn’t.
    I still have not heard from my offspring. Tomorrow I will be making lunch and pampering DIL for her first Mother’s Day. If your own relationship with Mother’s Day is hurtful at best, do something for someone else. I had first told Mr. P I didn’t want to celebrate this year. I wanted to go to the beach. Instead, I am doing this. Maybe it won’t be so bad.

  2. My granddaughter, Annika, will be going for surgery towards the end of this week. Tubes reput into her ears and adenoids out. Possibly tonsils, but they are hoping to put that off. She does still have a couple of holes in her heart. Please pray for her.

    I could use some prayer for help with some difficult relationships. I find I weary of people who just want to make issues of everything. I need to remember that if one person can completely make a whole group miserable, then one person can make a good influence the other way.

  3. Kim – Could it be that BG’s lack of care about her appearance was in rebellion against your involvement? (For instance, your involvement in setting up the appointment to have her hair and make-up done.) I could be way off, but that thought has occurred to me.

    From photos I’ve seen of BG, she seems like the kind of young woman who always wants to look good and put-together. That’s why I questioned her state-of-mind the other day.

  4. Forgot to say that I am praying for you, Kim, and for BG.

    And Kathaleena, may God use you to be that one who can bring some peace into the situation.

  5. A couple prayer requests:

    Hubby’s distant cousin Debbie, who is in her 40s, recently lost her husband. Please pray God will comfort her and draw her close. (She is Catholic, so I’m not sure if she has saving faith yet.)

    Neighbors of ours have adopted their granddaughter, who is in 2nd grade and was sexually abused by her mother’s boyfriend, and have custody of her little brother, who I think is two years old. They gained custody of him while he was still an infant, because the boy’s father beat him so bad that he had several broken bones. (Most of you probably know that it is not easy to break an infant’s bones, as they haven’t hardened completely yet.)

    The father is now trying to get custody of the little boy. Please pray that God will intervene, and that this little boy can stay with his grandparents. (Nightingale says it is likely that the father will not get custody, but prayer can’t hurt.)

  6. I had sent Ann a private Facebook message, and she replied a little bit ago.

    Ann had her gallbladder removed a week ago, and then developed an infection. She has been very sick, and may need further surgery. Also, she has lost a lot of weight due to her body not digesting fats and proteins. So let’s be praying that the doctors will figure out what is wrong and how to fix it, and for her healing.

    On the positive side, her marriage is doing better, as various trials have brought them closer together. I was so glad to hear that, as I have been praying for her marriage.

    (Btw, I asked her permission before sharing this request.)

  7. Thanks for checking on Ann, Kizzie. I’ve thought of her often since she was last here — which has been quite a long while.

    Prayers for the above requests.

    I called my mom today. She said she spoke on the phone yesterday with my niece B, who is recovering from the cleft palate surgery I mentioned Thursday/Friday. Mom reports B sounds good, and her speech, which has always been extremely difficult to understand for those outside her immediate family, is quite clear now, praise God!

    Please continue praying for my mother-in-law. She’s still in the hospital, though she might be able to go home tomorrow. Her heart isn’t good, but the blood thinners she takes for that apparently caused the bleeding in the duodenum, which was why her hemoglobin dropped to 6. It’s a tough balance to strike, not getting too much or too little blood thinning. Prayers for wisdom for the docs, and encouragement for my MIL. Thanks.

  8. Our young friend, Monica, had the surgery necessary to relieve her terrible pain. They removed a tumor the size of a baby’s head. They had to remove two ribs to get it out. She is the 45 yr. old with cancer hoping to make it to her son’s graduation. She is planning a party for her towards the end of June, but her father is not sure she will make it.

    Another young friend took in a baby as a foster child a couple of years ago. She basically raised this child’s mother, because her mother was off and on doing drugs. The baby’s mother picked this woman to raise her children and social services agreed. She just finalized an adoption of the baby. We are so relieved that neither the abusive father or this mother can take this baby back.

  9. Glad to get news of Ann. So many things to pray about. I wish I had enough time to post prayers for all like I use to do. Maybe sometime I will have such needed time.
