Prayer Requests 5-10-18

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 92

It is good to praise the Lord
    and make music to your name, O Most High,
proclaiming your love in the morning
    and your faithfulness at night,
to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
    and the melody of the harp.

For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
    I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
How great are your works, Lord,
    how profound your thoughts!
Senseless people do not know,
    fools do not understand,
that though the wicked spring up like grass
    and all evildoers flourish,
    they will be destroyed forever.

But you, Lord, are forever exalted.

For surely your enemies, Lord,
    surely your enemies will perish;
    all evildoers will be scattered.
10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox;
    fine oils have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
    my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.

12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
    they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
    they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
    they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
    he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

  1. I still haven’t heard from BG. My heart still hurts. I know in the big scheme of things what she did is minor. It’s that she continues to do these things.

  2. Please pray for my niece, B. She will be undergoing another surgery — a bone graft to do the final repair of her cleft palate. Surgery is at 2:15 Eastern time today (should last about 1 1/2 hours), and my sister and brother-in-law will be leaving for the hospital shortly.

    My sister wrote this in an email this morning:

    We will be leaving for the hospital in about an hour and wanted to tell you that [B] is in good spirits. She’s asked tons of questions these last couple days and last night she said she was not nervous. Hopefully that will not change when the time comes for her to be wheeled into surgery.

    Also, I had [B] doing her normal Bible Reading lesson this morning and when she was reading from the book of Psalms she came across a verse that was quoted in one of her favorite movies Facing the Giants. She recorded it in her workbook as a memory verse. It was Psalm 31:3

    For You are my rock and my fortress;
    Therefore, for Your name’s sake,
    Lead me and guide me.

    What an awesome and fitting verse to meditate on before going into surgery. The Lord speaks in very special ways.

    Anyway, we will stay in touch. Thanks for all the prayers.

  3. Here is an update about the little girl I mentioned the other night, posted by Joanne (Ajisuun):

    “Arwen is out of the OR and stable. The surgeon estimated that she lost about four liters of blood. That is more than twice the amount of blood she had to begin with. Because she received so much replacement blood, she is going to have to keep her breathing tube in place overnight. We’ll be spending at least one night in the intensive care unit. The good news is that the surgeon thought the surgery went better than expected and estimates that 95-98% of the main tumor was removed. Next step is recovery and then immunotherapy.

    God is sovereign. Thank you for praying with us.”
