  1. This seems…………… I don’t know……..

    Spiteful? Pathetic? Thin skinned?

    All of the above……..

“House Chaplain Patrick Conroy was suddenly forced out of his job last week by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), and while it’s not clear why, Democratic lawmakers and Hill sources say it was driven by Ryan’s distaste for one of Conroy’s prayers about the GOP’s tax bill.”

““As you have requested, I hereby offer my resignation as the 60th Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives,” reads Conroy’s letter to Ryan, dated April 15. Conroy, who has been the chaplain since 2011, will officially resign on May 24.

The Hill reported that four different sources ― two Democrats and two Republicans ― said Conroy was told he had to quit or he would be fired. There’s been no reason given for why he was let go, but Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) tells HuffPost that his GOP colleagues have pointed him to a prayer that Conroy made on the House floor last fall amid the debate on the GOP tax bill.

Here’s that Nov. 6 prayer, in which Conroy wishes for no “winners and losers” under the legislation. As has been reported, the tax bill greatly benefits the rich over time.

The Chaplain, the Reverend Patrick J. Conroy, offered the following prayer:

“God of the universe, we give You thanks for giving us another day. Bless the Members of this assembly as they set upon the work of these hours, of these days. Help them to make wise decisions in a good manner and to carry their responsibilities steadily, with high hopes for a better future for our great Nation.

As legislation on taxes continues to be debated this week and next, may all Members be mindful that the institutions and structures of our great Nation guarantee the opportunities that have allowed some to achieve great success, while others continue to struggle. May their efforts these days guarantee that there are not winners and losers under new tax laws, but benefits balanced and shared by all Americans.

May Your blessing, O God, be with them and with us all this day and every day to come, and may all we do be done for Your greater honor and glory.

Connolly said Republican lawmakers told him Ryan was peeved because he read that prayer as a “tilt to the Democrats” because it implied criticisms of the tax cuts being more beneficial to the rich (which they are).

“I am informed reliably by my Republican friends about this,” said the Virginia Democrat. “They cite that as evidence as that being more political than he’s comfortable with.”

Another Democratic source familiar with the situation said “several lawmakers” relayed to him that Ryan’s decision was driven by the prayer.

The speaker’s office denied that Conroy was forced out over a specific prayer, but would not clarify if the chaplain’s prayers during the tax debate were related to his termination. The office also gave no reason for Conroy’s termination.”

  2. How nice for him.

    How shameful for Germany.

“According to German media reports, Osama bin Laden’s former bodyguard has been drawing huge welfare payments for the past several years after the 42-year-old Tunisian man and his family received permanent asylum in the country. German authorities made these revelations following a formal request for information submitted by the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

German immigration authorities are refusing to deport the former Al Qaeda henchman, identified as Sami A., back to Tunisia, citing “the considerable likelihood” of “torture and inhumane or degrading treatment,” German newspaper BILD reported. German security services classify Sami A. as a “security risk” due to his past links and current activities, German broadcaster Deutsche Welle revealed. Another German newspaper described him as a “key figure in German Islamist scene.”

“A man, who according to the police is a threat to the general public, is funded by the same public to lead a carefree life. Nobody truly believes that the state cannot do anything to put an end to it,” the BILD lashed out at the government for not deporting the former bin Laden confidant.

These news reports once again highlight the absurdity of Germany’s open doors immigration policy. While elderly Germans increasingly face poverty, the country is turning into a safe haven for foreign jihadis.

On Tuesday, the regional German newspaper RHEINISCHE POST covered the details of the welfare payments going to Sami A. and his family:

Osama bin Laden’s former bodyguard has been granted asylum in Germany. As per the court’s verdict, he is not to be deported back to Tunisia. (…)

Sami A. gets 1,167.48 euros from the city of Bochum each month. That is in accordance with the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act. This amount has come to light following a query made by the Alternative for Germany’s [AfD] Bochum chapter. The detailed breakdown of the payments was not offered in the response. The recipients are Sami A., his wife and two children. There are some additional [social benefit] payments as well. Thomas Eiskirch, the Lord Mayor of Bochum, turned down our editorial request to comment on the facts.

All this despite Sami A. being regarded as the key figure in Germany’s Islamist scene. North Rhine-Westphalia state’s intelligence agency’s [BfV] has been watching him since 2006. He was reportedly at the Afganistan[-based] Al Qaida camp in 2001. He personally denies any contact with the terrorist organisation.

Despite several attempts, Sami A. cannot be deported to the country of his origin, Tunisia, in keeping with the court’s verdict. The verdict was reaffirmed in April 2017. State’s Higher Administrative Court had decided in that instance that Sami A. can not be deported back to Tunisia even if the political situation change, as he could face torture there. For those unfamiliar with the current exchange rates, that’s about 1,414.14 a month in US dollars.

  3. Well now, let’s see what else they can dig up now that we have what they tried to hide.

“The Justice Department on Thursday gave Congress five months worth of text messages exchanged between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — two FBI officials involved in the investigations into Hillary Clinton and President Donald Trump’s campaign.

The messages, exchanged between Dec. 14, 2016, and May 17, 2017, were initially thought to be missing due to a technical glitch on FBI-issued cell phones. But the texts were recovered by the Justice Department’s office of the inspector general, which is investigating the FBI’s handling of both the Clinton and Trump campaign investigations.

Approximately 300 messages were given to Congress, a Justice Department official told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Strzok, the former deputy chief of the FBI’s counterintelligence division, was removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia team in July 2017 after the discovery of the text messages. They showed Strzok and Page expressed deep hostility to Trump during the 2016 campaign.”

  4. Blood sucking leech is probably more accurate. But hey, there is no bunch more deserving of Hillary than the DNC.

“Even in defeat, you have to pay the Clintons. The former first lady and two-time presidential loser is forcing the cash-strapped Democratic National Committee to dole out nearly $2 million for access to their email list through Onward Together, according to The Intercept. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has paid $700,000 to use the same data. It showcases that while Democratic voter enthusiasm is high, the party apparatus is in a terrible state of disrepair. The army of small-donors has collapsed, new donor attraction is lackluster, debts are in the millions of dollars, with the DNC taking out a loan totaling almost $2 million just to keep the lights on. And while the Obama campaign gifted their data, the publication added that Democrats aren’t viewing this as a favor at all since he turned his Organizing for Action group into a direct DNC competitor, further hamstringing the national committee (via The Intercept):

Heading into the 2018 midterms, with Democrats hoping to take back the House of Representatives and even make a run at the Senate, the party has spent more than $2 million worth of campaign resources on payments to Hillary Clinton’s new group, Onward Together, according to Federal Election Commission filings and interviews with people familiar with the payments.

The Democratic National Committee is paying $1.65 million for access to the email list, voter data, and software produced by Hillary for America during the 2016 presidential campaign, Xochitl Hinojosa, a spokesperson for the DNC, told The Intercept. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has paid more than $700,000 to rent the same email list.

Clinton is legally entitled to rent her list to the party, rather than hand it over as a gift, but in 2015, Barack Obama gave his email list, valued at $1,942,640, to the DNC as an in-kind contribution. In 2013 and 2014, OFA had similarly made in-kind contributions exceeding $3.4 million for uses of the list that cycle.

Obama’s list was at one point considered to be the most valuable in politics and raised more than twice as much money for the 2012 Obama campaign as Clinton’s did for hers in 2016. The DNC agreement with the Clinton campaign calls on the debt-ridden organization to fork the money over to an entity of Clinton’s choosing, which wound up being Onward Together, the operation she formed after her campaign ceased to exist.

Despite Obama’s willingness to gift the DNC with his email list, he is not seen as a savior within the building. After he was elected in 2008, he turned his campaign organization, Organizing for Action, into a parallel DNC, starving the real one of funds. During that time, if a party committee such as the DCCC wanted access to OFA, it had to rent it. When he finally turned the OFA list over to the DNC in 2015, it had been battered like a rental car, and the organization was a shell of itself, mismanaged and neglected to the brink of insolvency. It was in that context that the party committee struck up its secret deal with the Clinton campaign to salvage itself — setting off the charges of favoritism in the 2016 campaign that continue to dog the party today.”

  5. A House panel has cleared Trump in the Russia probe….

“The Republican-led House intelligence committee on Friday officially declared the end of its Russia probe, saying in its final report that it found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 presidential campaign.

The report’s conclusion is fiercely opposed by committee Democrats, who say the committee did not interview enough witnesses or gather enough evidence to support its finding.”

So Trump responds as you’d expect the victim of a witch hunt would.

  6. It’s sad that he was. But no worse than this fraud. Clapper caught lying again.

“Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper gave inconsistent testimony to a House panel about his contacts with CNN’s Jake Tapper regarding the infamous Steele dossier, according to a report released by congressional Republicans on Friday.

The report, published by the GOP side of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, shows that Clapper acknowledged speaking with Tapper about the dossier while he was still serving as director of national intelligence.

That is in direct conflict with Clapper’s claim to CNN’s Don Lemon in March that he did not interact with the media prior to leaving the Obama administration on Jan. 20, 2017.

“I didn’t have any contact with media until after I left the government on the 20th of January, so I don’t quite understand, at least what I’ve read, that somehow I leaked about the dossier,” Clapper told Lemon in the interview.

“So you didn’t leak anything about the dossier to any media?” Lemon asked.

“No, not — I mean, I talked about it after I left the government, but not during that period, and certainly not between the 6th of January and the 10th when the president-elect himself talked about it.””
