Prayer Requests 3-16-18

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 36

I have a message from God in my heart
    concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:
   There is no fear of God
    before their eyes.

In their own eyes they flatter themselves
    too much to detect or hate their sin.
The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful;
    they fail to act wisely or do good.
Even on their beds they plot evil;
    they commit themselves to a sinful course
    and do not reject what is wrong.

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
    your justice like the great deep.
    You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
    you give them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
    in your light we see light.

10 Continue your love to those who know you,
    your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 May the foot of the proud not come against me,
    nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 See how the evildoers lie fallen—
    thrown down, not able to rise!

  1. Not silly at all Kim…I spent much of the day yesterday asking our Lord for moisture upon this land…snow was not in the forecast….He sent a soft blanket of snow upon this forest…thankful. Praying for your weather today!

  2. Please pray for my friend E, a single Christian who lives half a block from me and has been something of a running-buddy through the years. She contracted polio from a vaccine when she was a child and she now seems to be developing post-polio syndrome. I have heard of it but am realizing how really scary some of this can be. She’s an RN, works at a hospital (which has become physically difficult for her at times) — but since early this year she’s been out of work on leave for muscle spasms and pain, often severe, in her back.

    She’s seen a couple doctors who have said there’s not much that can be done so she currently is trying acupuncture, but it seems to be of limited help. I guess this syndrome crops up something like 30 or 40 years after the initial illness and is progressive, though it progresses slowly and will stabilize in between new symptoms developing.

    She rents a small (charming!) 1920s apartment but has hoped to buy something for several years for more security and comfort — this market is just out of reach for her, though. She is looking out of the area (she’s even been to Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi and other states over the years to house hunt but felt she needed a job in those places first and never could land one). But like all us single folk, the prospect of getting older alone can be daunting and has its financial drawbacks compared to those who have spouses to lean on.

    Anyway, pray for her spiritual and physical strength through this trial. Thank you.
