Prayer Requests 1-12-18

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 127

Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
In vain you rise early
    and stay up late,
   toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

  1. Thanks for your response, Kizzie. I have never heard of property taxes on a vehicle, except a trailer home. We have license fees and transfer fees.

  2. Fire is burning in a group of townhomes in our town. There is an assisted living place and a daycare center nearby. Third Arrow is at her workplace right now, about one block away from where the explosion and fire started.

Please pray for the safety of all in the immediate area. Thanks.

  3. Praying, Mumsee.

Four hours into the fire, it has not spread beyond the building in which it started, as far as I know. (My anonymous post above may have sounded like it was in multiple buildings, but only one in the group of apartment buildings has been affected so far, according to media reports, and no other structures in the area have been, either. Thanking God that winds are mild today — it could have been much worse if it had happened yesterday or the day before, when winds were much higher.)

Praising God also that no one in the building was injured at the time of the explosion/fire, it appears. The three people in the building at the time were safely evacuated.

Please continue to pray for the firefighters (from our community and those just north and south of us), as it’s still an active fire. Also for those who live in the 12-unit apartment building — it’s suspected many of the units are badly damaged. Video on local websites looks horrific.

  4. The fire is extinguished, and crews have left the scene. Thank you for your prayers. Sounds like the building didn’t burn to the ground, but that it will have to be demolished.

I’m just so thankful no one was hurt — pets were all rescued, too — in the building or nearby. The assisted living facility is 0.2 miles away on one side; the daycare center only 100 yards away on the opposite side. There is a windchill advisory starting at midnight tonight, for between -15° and -25°F (air temperature in the single digits above 0). I’m in awe of the Lord’s tender mercies, that there was little wind today when that fire was going on so near to so many vulnerable individuals.

  5. They cannot really identify her as schizophrenic or anything else. She is on meds for depression and fearful thoughts and sleeplessness. I think. But the counselor and doctor agree with us that they are not her answer. It was the people in Utah that just met her that thought meds were the answer. She has gone from threatening to kill herself to threatening to kill everybody. We all know that if she did it would be sheer accident as she has no idea how to accomplish such things other than what folk told her at the hospital. But she does not know how to use the tools described. Like I mentioned, she said she was killing herself and laid down under a chair thinking that would do it.

  6. The fire reignited tonight, but was quickly put back out. If you’re so inclined, please pray that it stays out, and that the winds aren’t as bad as predicted for tonight.
