  2. Good morning!

    Warmer today @ 33 degrees. Moon and stars are beautiful.

    We had a busy day yesterday. Up early to do burritos, then to Capitan to the vet, then , up the Mt to get my boy a haircut. The barber put him up on the booster, turned him around, and said “oh Lord, a double cowlick”. As he was cutting, he said “the more I cut, the more hair there is”. Then we headed to Roswell for Christmas shopping. We came back through Hondo and Lincoln, picking up the dog on the way home. Got home just after dark.

  5. Morning! Wow RK you are busy! Are you going to get some of this snow they are predicting for us this evening and tomorrow….we are downright giddy over the prospect ⛄️!!! We are taking our soon to be graduate for a fancy dinner tonight in celebration….I was in hopes for snow as we will be strolling around Manitou Springs afterwards….there is something so magical about the experience of walking around that little town which is all decked out with Christmas lights, with snow falling!

  11. Today is the first day of Hanukah. An important celebration for Jews. It celebrates the miracle of the oil that burned for seven days (If I remember this correctly, it has been two decades since I studied it.) when there was only a few hours worth of oil.
    It was the cleansing of the temple after desecration by Antiochus Epigones (The Illustrious).
    This was likely the celebration Jesus was attending in John 10:22.

  18. Yes, I was going to say sundown last night, we had several public celebrations and were shooting one set to take place onboard the Iowa.

    It’s still very dry here, my skin is so itchy. Miserable weather. But I do think we’ll be “down” into the high 70s today, the high 60s in few more days.

  22. Yesterday while at Kroger I decide to get two bunches of banana, on near ripe and the other green. I don’t usually get two bunches. They were both the more expensive organic type. Later in the parking lot, a black man in a can motioned for me to roll down my window. He told me he needed good for his son. I reached into my grocery bag and the first thing I found was a bunch of bananas. At first he said they did not have a refrigerator, and then he realized nanas need no refrigeration. Then he asked if I could give him 5 dollars to take his son to McDonald’s. I said no. He took the bananas which was probably worth five dollars and better for them than McDonald’s.

    Our water is off again for fire hydrant repair. Too bad. I can’t do laundry from our trip.

  28. So frustrated!

    After doing some other chores & whatnot earlier in the day, then taking a break, I decided to google some more about that Federal Form 712. I happened upon info on the website of an insurance company (not ours) that said they fill out the form for their customers.

    Great! I just have to google to find Hubby’s life insurance company’s website, to check it out. I was feeling so hopeful that maybe they’d do that, too.

    Except. . . I cannot find a website for them. What?! Their name comes up on other sites, but it looks like they don’t have their own. The name they used to have, that was changed a couple years ago, comes up, but that website tells me to contact one of their subsidiary companies for info, & none of the names match what I need.

    I guess I will have to call them, but don’t have time to do that before I get The Boy off the school bus. (And I would much rather email or online chat than call.)

    (The company is Wilco Life Insurance Company of Nashville. Used to be Conseco. Anyone else have life insurance through them? My life insurance is with a different company. I forget why.)

    Okay, gotta go get The Boy now.

  34. Speaking of boots, I need a new pair. My old ones don’t even keep out the cold or all the wetness of snow. I don’t even know where they are right now.

    Man-in-a-Can? Sounds helpful. I’m still praying for a godly Boaz to come our way.

  35. I am really not use to walking in boots. Today I figured that I must be using more calories to get around in the boots because they are heavier than my shoes, and I use different muscles to walk in them.

    Now I am on my tablet instead of silly phone with the canned man. My tablet puts the keyboard on top of what I am keying in so I can not edit as I write. I do not have a win/win situation, but I do have a lose/lose or hate/hate situation with my devices.

    Karen, I have Woodmen of the World insurance. I think they changed to a new name. The original salesman seemed a bit odd to me so I tended to think of him as Woodman From Outta This World. Art has insurance with his retirement plan. Sorry that I can’t help with your question. I am still muddling around on the health insurance. I am suppose to speak with someone this evening.

  37. Why am I thinking that Canned Man sounds like Spam (maybe for cannibals)? That is a truly terrible and silly thought. I know the advertising industry would love that one.

    I do like the thought of a godly Boaz for your family, Karen. That is a worthy thought and a prayer.

  38. Nothing but clear skies and warm days (36) on the weather forecast but it has been snowing most of the day and a cold wind. I have to go out tomorrow as husband is gone. Get my eyes checked one day and daughter’s counseling the next. Glad the snow tires got put on. Husband is driving to Dallas. Wait. How did that happen???

A sad story to work on today about a very popular local vet who was killed in a plane accident. “Dr. Mike” was extremely well liked, I’d done a story on him about 10 years ago and was really impressed. He told me he was just about to propose to his girlfriend — they went on to marry & have 4 children (2 of them twins). I always thought if my vet ever retired I’d go to him and I’ve suggested him to several people who were looking for a local vet. Such a nice guy, did a lot for the rescue groups around here, including the one I got Tess & Cowboy from; he also started up a cat rescue foundation.

    I had to dash out early today to check in with my GP for a refill, I’m now set up for blood work early in the year.

  45. Nice luncheon today. Ended up driving all over the county to do things, paid the second half of my property taxes to get that on this years taxes, bought a Bona mop, went 10 miles away to get my mail, but no cards, debit or otherwise, then dashed home and called the gal willing to keep my end tables. I found they live 25 minutes away, but I made it before dark. Now I need to clean and pack and get ready to fly to Portland tomorrow. My son hasn’t gotten me a ticket yet as his power is out. oh,well…

  46. So, together we found a reasonably priced hotel close to where they live and then he booked my ticket. Time to do some packing. It is a later flight, so I can pack tomorrow, so time for some sleep.

  47. I’m up before the new day? (I’m barely up–didn’t sleep. My husband was sick while we were away, pretty much the whole time, and yesterday he got meds for bronchitis. Everyone was coughing on our trip, everywhere we went, and I had a tickly throat yesterday that in spite of gargling saltwater yesterday several times today is a sore throat with some drainage.)
