41 May your unfailing love come to me, Lord, your salvation, according to your promise; 42 then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word. 43 Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. 44 I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. 45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. 46 I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, 47 for I delight in your commands because I love them. 48 I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees.
A relative’s second home (so this is upsetting but not a personal crisis, though a huge financial one), is on mandatory evacuation from the Thomas fires. If this house near the Mission is under threat, Santa Barbara is in trouble. 😦
My Uncle/godfather–My Uncle CE, my dad’s big brother has rheumatoid arthritis and is in a lot of pain. The cold weather we have had has caused a lot of pain.
My other living uncle, the one that I always said had the same personality as my dad but without the sense of responsibility, honor, and other good traits, is in the VA Psych Ward. I don’t know if he will ever get out. It seems after his wife died he decided to drink himself to death. Now he has alcohol induced dementia. It is terrible what people will allow alcohol to do to their lives.
Then their is my aunt J who has early onset dementia. She is 62. I am convinced that hers is caused by all the diet Coke she drinks, but at least it wasn’t alcohol.
Kim, I am convinced that dementia is caused by old age in some people.
Sometimes, I think I am losing it too.
But if you remember to think that, it isn’t dementia.
Michelle, which mission is her house near? From the Cal Fire map it looks to me like the fire’s still pretty far from Santa Barbara, but is almost in downtown Ventura.
It is a hard place you are in, Kizzie. It will continue to roll in. You keep doing what you need to do and keep crying when you need to, and talk to us. We will keep praying for you. The Lord is near.
I think the Cal Fire map hadn’t been updated in awhile when I looked at it before, but now it shows it much closer to Santa Barbara, and the evacuation area coming right up to the edge of the city. Praying!

Praying that God is glorified through it all. That people will turn to Him. And their lives preserved. And peace.

My Uncle M said;) that he heard on NPR the other day that if you aren’t getting your underwear out of the freezer, you are still doing OK. 😉

Santa Barbara mission. The relative is saying the camera crews are standing near their driveway–so they’re watching it unfold on TV.
