Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks 2017-Week 12

It’s the dozenth week in college football. There are dozens of teams playing, and a few are on their dozenth game. For some reason (think $), a few top ranked teams are playing teams from a lower division this week, getting a break from the tough competition (Alabama vs. Mercer, for instance). So, in honor of that, I’ve thrown in a game from the FCS, which are the mid-major universities that actually have a playoff to determine a national champion. Both those teams are doing well this season.

So, make your picks by the dozenth hour after midnight, Eastern Time, Saturday (that’s 12 NOON).

  1. Georgia Tech @ Duke

  2. Syracuse @ Louisville

  3. Northern Arizona (7-3) @ Southern Utah (8-2)

  4. Nebraska @ Penn State

  5. Texas A&M @ Ole Miss

  6. UCLA @ USC

  7. Arizona @ Oregon

  8. Air Force @ Boise State

  9. Pillow Fight: UMass @ BYU (both teams are at 3-8)

 10. Tie breaker (pick winner and score): Texas @ West Virginia

  1. Peter, re: “Playing games from a lower division”.
    Gamecocks play Wofford
    Clemson plays The Citadel.
They are getting ready for each other.
Also, there is a SC state law that says each team must play a team from a lower division in SC during the season.
    It works to everyone’s advantage.
And The Citadel Bulldogs have beaten the Gamecocks three times.

PS “The” article is part of the name. You don’t say “Citadel” you say “The Citadel”

  3. Georgia Tech
    Louisville
    Northern Arizona
    Penn State
    Ole Miss
USC -As far as I know, this is the only game where both teams wear the home uniforms, and the “visiting” team gets penalized on the opening kickoff for doing so. At least that’s what happened a few years ago when I actually watched this game.
    Arizona
    Boise State
    BYU
    West Virginia 40-30

  4. Tychicus, My niece and her family (all Longhorns) will be in Morgantown. I hope they get to stop in historic Cumberland, Maryland on the way. It is a pretty and interesting town.

  5. No, Kevin. Tychicus can’t have a time machine or he would have gotten the tie breaker score exact and not have missed the winner in the Georgia Tech-Duke game. Or else he has one and just purposely made those two errors to throw us off.

That’s right folks. Tychicus, the one who lives in the future (he is in Europe. several time zones ahead of us), successfully predicted the outcome of 9 of the ten games, and is the only one who predicted Texas winning the tie breaker. So he wins this week. The rest of us? Do you really want to know? Okay, you asked for it:
    AJ and rickyweaver 6
    Mumsee (or Mike) 5
    Kevin and I 4
    Chas and Janice 3

And to make matters worse, my Kansas City Chiefs, who started the NFL season at 5-0, are now 6-4 after losing to the NY Giants, who were 1-8 going into today’s game.

Well, Tychicus, which rivalry game next week gets to be the one you correctly predict again?

  6. Re. Texas, you have to be careful about picking against the Longhorns b/c their defense is really good now. However, y’all get another chance (and Ricky will like this game)…

Texas Tech @ Texas (Friday game)

  7. Peter, my theory is that he does have a time machine, but the act of using it caused changes in the timeline, thus the outcomes were not quite the same as he saw in his trip to the future.
