Prayer Requests 9-12-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 31:1-5

In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
    let me never be put to shame;
    deliver me in your righteousness.
Turn your ear to me,
    come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
    a strong fortress to save me.
Since you are my rock and my fortress,
    for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,
    for you are my refuge.
Into your hands I commit my spirit;
    deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

  1. Second least favorite activity this morning, Going to the dentist. We will be taking children, including sixteen year old Side B. Hopefully she will be able to hold it together for the duration. She does not like to display in public, but the ride there and back could be traumatic.

    Least favorite? Going to the doctor.

  2. Hi there!

    Spent the morning & early afternoon at the hospital. Hubby is doing pretty well. He took a walk around the halls earlier this morning, with a nurse, & holding on to a walker, & even tried a few stairs. When he got back to his room, he was tired, but not exhausted. A nice change from a few days ago.

    He will be released tomorrow or Thursday. The news that makes us happiest is that he can come home instead of going to a rehab facility. A physical therapist will come to the house to help him. (Not sure how often.)

    Also not sure yet if he will be able to go back to his job. He wants to, but he may not be able to. Having had one stroke, he is at risk for another sometime. Then there’s his heart, which isn’t in great shape. (I joked with Emily – “Except for his bum heart, the stroke, & the advanced prostate cancer, he’s doing great!” I forgot to mention the arthritis & bad knees.)

    Hubby is going to call the bank to see if we can defer payments on our home equity loan for a couple months.

    If he can’t go back to his job, he would probably not be able to get another one that pays as well as what he was making (& it was the lots of overtime that made it as good as it was), & SSDI would of course not be nearly that much. We could once again (for the third time in the past couple years) be at risk of losing our home.

    (For those who may ask, yes, Nightingale would certainly chip in more towards the loan, if she can.)

  3. I’m so glad he will be able to come home instead of go to a rehab, it will be much more conducive to his recovery, especially mentally.

    Praying for the rest of it to fall into place with new income and/or financial options. I had to laugh at your comment to Emily “Except for …” — It helps to keep one’s sense of humor, for sure.

    You know we’re all waiting around here all day for you update posts.

  4. Please pray for my friend Ruthie. She commented on one of Hubby’s Facebook posts (about the stroke & aftermath) that she has had several TIAs, but won’t go to the doctor because they can’t afford it. The TIAs affect her speech for a period of time, & then she just keeps going on with what she has to do. Although she is married, she is pretty much the only parent involved with her five children still at home (one married young & is no longer there).

    Then she wrote that they expect to have a good influx of money within the next month or so, & that she will ask her husband is she can go to the doctor.

    I commented, “I believe, as you do, in being a submissive wife in the biblical sense (which does not include being a doormat or not speaking our minds, albeit respectfully).

    “But I would urge you to not *ask*, but to *tell* your husband that you NEED to see a doctor. Please.”

    Hubby also urged her to see a doctor soon. Please pray that she will, & pray for her health. Thank you.
