Prayer Requests 8-26-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 18:1-6

I love you, Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
    my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
    my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and I have been saved from my enemies.
The cords of death entangled me;
    the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
The cords of the grave coiled around me;
    the snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called to the Lord;
    I cried to my God for help.
    From his temple he heard my voice;
    my cry came before him, into his ears.

  1. Please pray for the continued growth of all the campers who attended Kadesh this year. We work closely with several churches in Saskatoon (where the majority of our campers come from) to get the campers plugged into a church and a youth group/other support.

  2. Absolutely, Kare.

    My husband misplaced important paperwork and has been looking for it for two days. Today he asked me to look for it. Please pray 1) that we find it, and 2) for my attitude. I am bristling, having so much to do, and have a poor-me attitude that it seems I have to spend so much of my life looking for things.

    Thank you.

  3. Also let’s remember Ann and Ricky in Texas. I’m not sure of their locations relative to the storm, but prayers would be good either way. And the rest of the residents as well.

  4. I’ve been thinking of Ann a lot lately, wondering how she and her family have been doing in this time since we last heard from her. Praying, Ann, if you see this.

    Papers still not found after over two hours of looking in the house (and two days of his looking in the garage and all our vehicles). I convinced him that we’ve spent enough time looking, we should just go to the bank Monday and get new copies, and move on today to more needful things to get done. Thankfully, he agreed.

    Thank you for praying about my mood. It is improved.

  5. Feeling sick at heart.

    It’s a long story of how I learned this, but I learned (without Chickadee’s knowledge) that she has been using tarot cards.

    I feel as if my girls are getting further & further from God, & it hurts so bad (not that this is about me). Please pray for truth to be revealed to my sweet girl (& to her older sister & little nephew, too). I’ve prayed that God would even allow her to be frightened by getting a glimpse of what is behind those things, & that that fear would drive her back to Him.

    I pray God would use whatever it takes to bring these beloved ones to Himself.

  6. Our Holy Father in heaven, You who know all things are already aware of what we need and when we need it. Nevertheless, these very needs are what so often break us and drive us to our knees in fervent prayer as it does now. I pray today that You use this brokenness to mold us into vessels that are fit for Your purposes at this time. Let every fear and sorrow and grief perform a perfect work in us and in those we love and are burdened for. And though our beloveds may take the long way around, at the end, please grant that their path lead them home to You. To this end, we choose to trust You with all that we are, and with all those we love, believing that You are able and willing to keep that which has been committed to You. In the name of Your Son, Jesus the Christ, I pray. Amen.

  7. Last I heard (about three hours ago) was that she had a CT scan, but results weren’t back. They also took blood and urine samples, and nothing had been reviewed with her and her fiance. I texted him about 45 minutes ago to see if they’d found out any more, but I did not get a response that time.

    Thank you for your prayers.

  8. Text from 2nd Arrow’s fiance just now:

    “No official reports yet. She is being held overnight to be monitored because it’s either appendicitis or an infection somewhere else cause irrigation [I think he meant irritation] on her appendix. She I am heading home now and will be back again tomorrow morning.”

    Prayers for his safe travels back home tonight. I’m sure he’s pretty exhausted.

    Prayers that I can sleep tonight, too. The alarm is set to ring at 6:00, little more than five hours from now, as we are planning to go to early church. (We usually go to late church, but are headed out of state tomorrow to visit with my sister and family before they return to the East Coast Monday.) I have a hard time sleeping when I know I have to get up earlier than usual, and my concern for my daughter (three hours from us in the opposite direction we’re headed tomorrow) will very likely compound the matter.

    Thank you for all your prayers. I’ll check back in with results when I’m able.

  9. Second Arrow was admitted to the hospital last night. They still aren’t sure what’s going on, but don’t think now that it is appendicitis. They think there’s an infection somewhere else (intestine? colon?) and are trying to figure out where. She’s on pain meds, and will be given antibiotics if she’s got a bacterial infection.

    Her WBC is lower today than yesterday, but there are few results in to help guide further treatment. Please pray for answers and relief for her. She had difficulty sleeping last night, and is wiped out from it all.

    Thank you so much.

  10. A classmate of my daughter just had his 15 year old drown in a river. He was washed down stream a couple of blocks. We have had a lot of rain. He was with 3 friends, but was the only one who jumped in the water. His family must be so devastated. The nasty comments on social media are not helpful. I have no idea of the spiritual state of the family, but know they will need prayer. His name is Will.

  11. How sad, Kathaleena. Prayers for them in their loss.

    Daughter is still in the hospital, and they don’t know what’s causing the pain, so are running more tests.

    Debra, thank you for your prayer above. That fit so well with our sermon today on faith. Hospitalized daughter has been straying from the Word for a few years now, and that has caused me some anxiety. Tonight I am feeling at peace with God’s sovereignty. I’m hoping this health crisis will drive her back to Jesus, but He can and will use any method and timing to bring about His good purposes.

    He is faithful. Thank you for the reminder.
