Prayer Requests 8-8-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 2

Why do the nations conspire
    and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
    against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us break their chains
    and throw off their shackles.”

The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
    the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
    and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
    on Zion, my holy mountain.”

I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:

    He said to me, “You are my son;
    today I have become your father.
Ask me,
    and I will make the nations your inheritance,
    the ends of the earth your possession.
You will break them with a rod of iron;
    you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
    be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
    and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
    and your way will lead to your destruction,
    for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
    Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

  1. Mumsee – A friend of mine, a woman with deep faith, is going through a particularly tough time in her life. This morning on Facebook, she wrote, “God is gonna get a lot of glory outta this!”

    That was such a great reminder to me that God is glorified when His people praise Him & trust Him to get us through our tough times. And often, He does something amazing in us &/or for us in those times.

  2. There was a head-on vehicular crash about a mile from our house this afternoon. One dead, two critical. No names released yet; our family is all okay. This hits close to home, though, and I’m selfishly worried the injured/dead may be someone we know.

    Someone knows them, even if I may not, and loves them. The person who died and the two who were critically injured were all in one vehicle.

    Please pray for the injured (including the driver of the other vehicle) and for the families of those involved.

    Please also join me in thanking God for His hand of protection on me. I was out running errands this afternoon and got home about 10 minutes before the crash. Same stretch of highway.

  3. Trying to get my brain settled down for sleep. I had debated whether to stop to get gas on my way home from running those errands. I decided against it. If I had stopped, it would have delayed my getting home by about 10 minutes… I would have been northbound, and one of the vehicles in the crash crossed the center line. I do not know whether it was the northbound or southbound vehicle.

    Why do these details keep playing in my mind? God is still in control; always was, and always will be.

    Oh, and there was another fatal vehicular accident in our town yesterday, too, I just learned tonight. Two of them in less than 24 hours in a town under 10,000 people.

    Sorry about the rambling. A way to process it, I guess, though prayer would be a better way to deal with it.

    Thanks for bearing with me.
