It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.
Anyone else?
Psalm 148
1 Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights above. 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his heavenly hosts. 3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. 4 Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, 6 and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, 8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, 9 you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, 10 wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, 11 kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, 12 young men and women, old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. 14 And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart.
Please pray for my friend M. Things are not working out on the house that a friend of the family offered her. I need to look for what is available for her to rent. Which isn’t much in this area.
Here is an official announcement from SIL PNG regarding the recent elections:
As PNG National Election results have been announced, there have been pockets of civil unrest break out in various parts of the country.
Concerns about potential unrest in the Aiyura Valley have caused some SIL paid staff to remain in their home villages. Their absence from work has resulted in some Ukarumpa department closures.
As a proactive security measure, a decision was made on Sunday night to close today’s centre market. On advice from the Police, the market will remain closed for the remainder of the week.
The SIL-PNG Directorate and Security staff are continuing to monitor the Valley situation to determine if additional security measures are necessary.
Please pray with us that God will enable a peaceful transition to the new government, at local and National levels.
I just learned that my longtime friend Bill from California was killed in a car crash yesterday. Please pray for his wife, Linda, and two young adult sons, David and Jonathan. (None of them were in the crash.)
Bill left a promising lucrative career as a young engineer in his mid-20s and spent the last 35 years on a missionary salary applying his technical expertise and leadership abilities to support missions research and planning. He was my co-worker for 10 years, housemate for 4, and friend for life.
Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?
Father God, Thank You for the provision of heaven, and what a comfort it is in such times as Kevin is enduring along with his friend’s family. Thank You that there was no doubt of his faith in You. There will be no nagging wondering whether or not he is with Jesus. Thank You. Please help the grieving go through this time feeling Your presence continuously lifting them out of despair.
Lord, please help Kim through yet another time of employment uncertainty. Why do some people in authority tend to play games with people? You are not a game player. Thank You that we can put full trust in You when people fail to be humble and fair. Please give Kim patience as she waits for another time of decision.
Please, Abba, bless Jo with good traveling conditions and safety. Thank You for her get up and go to so many places. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
I’m so sorry to let people know that my best friend and dear husband passed away yesterday. Bill was returning from his cherished camping in the redwoods with his extended family, and ran off the road. It is unknown at this time what the cause of that might have been. I and my family have been so blessed with offers of help, and I’m sure I will be taking you up on them as time goes by. This is quick, because I haven’t slept at all. We will let people know when the memorial service will be soon. I expect it to be in Cupertino.
Please pray for my friend M. Things are not working out on the house that a friend of the family offered her. I need to look for what is available for her to rent. Which isn’t much in this area.
