Prayer Requests 7-6-17

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 122

I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
Our feet are standing
    in your gates, Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is built like a city
    that is closely compacted together.
That is where the tribes go up—
    the tribes of the Lord
to praise the name of the Lord
according to the statute given to Israel.
There stand the thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
    and security within your citadels.”
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
    I will seek your prosperity.

  1. Please pray for my neighbor, Micky, who at 53, is dying of cancer. He returned last month from last ditch efforts at a cancer center in Tennessee. Please pray that his passage is swift. He is at peace, and ready to go. His mother has accepted this, his father, not so much. Thank you.

  2. Praying with you rkessler…praying his peace is found in our Lord…so very hard this thing death.
A precious man and dear friend of my parents passed away yesterday…today is his 89th birthday. He was a math teacher and basketball coach in our town, much beloved by thousands of former students. My Mom is saddened that Bob and Audrey will no longer be coming over on Thursdays for ice cream…and Bob will no longer be keeping Dad’s clock wound for him… 😦

  3. Praying for Micky and his loved ones. And for Bob and the loved ones left behind.

Prayers for Jo for safe travels as she treks around the country.

Prayers requested as we face the strong possibility of severe storms this afternoon, both here and in my hometown. I’ve planned on visiting my parents today before the concert in the park in my hometown tonight. Not sure now if 3rd Arrow and I will go, due to more storms predicted for tonight in our area, as well. (The youngest three would be home alone for about five hours — not that that is a concern ordinarily, them being ages 16, 13 and 9 — but with extreme heat, humidity and high winds predicted for the “night” [don’t know which hours constitute night vs. day], I guess I’m more leery of heading out.

And yet, I feel such a compelling urge to get to my parents’ place to visit for a while today…

    Wisdom.

  4. We understand 6…Bob was a very devout Catholic but I am uncertain as to his relationship with Christ…I pray he knew Him…Bob was a very dear man and I had the pleasure of partaking of the ice cream when I was in town visiting…and oh how excited was he to come into the house and wind my Dad’s retirement mantle clock in his stead…he just knew John was smiling down upon him as he wound his beloved clock…gonna miss that dear friend of my parents….
Praying for you day and that the storms will not be severe…

  5. I’m having trouble with my asthma again and it is getting discouraging. I was doing so well, and now the inflammation isn’t responding to my inhalers. I’ve been struggling with the symptoms since Sunday. I may have to go back on the stronger inhaler, but I am so reluctant to do that, not only for reasons of expense, but also because of having to be dependent on such powerful medications.

  6. I told you that Mary and Tom are adopting a girl from China. She is a year old. Named Ellie.
They are ready to pick her up in August.
They learned today that China has a rule that the youngest has to be three years old before they can adopt another.
Their youngest turns one this month.
We’re praying about that snafu in the plans. .

  7. Praying with you Chas…the agency they are working with should have known about such a rule…perhaps the Chinese govt has just implemented it and Ellie will be grandfathered in if the process began before the rule…He is able! ❤

  8. We stayed home. No storms this afternoon, but there is lightning and thunder now, and current alerts for everyone both in my hometown and here to seek shelter immediately. Thanks for praying.

  9. Of course, a lot of folk lie to get children out of China. One of my lesbian cousins and her girlfriend lied and claimed to be married to men. A couple of homosexual men went with them and through the process. They got two girls less than a year apart, in one trip. The girls are grown, one is doing well, the other never has done well. I am not recommending that, as I know God likes to work through truth and can get it done if it is to be done. Just saying what I have heard.
