Good Morning Everyone. I had a few minutes alone with L and gave her the cross. I told her I had dozens and dozens of people praying for her and that Sunday I asked for prayer for her, then the story of the woman giving me the cross to give to her. She started tearing up and started to thank me. NO! It isn’t from me. It is from someone else. I had nothing to do with it, except get it here to you. I loved that feeling…it wasn’t me, it wasn’t my idea…it’s a gift from a stranger.
Texted Carol this morning point-blank asking her if the house could handle her money for her. I feel really bad as the man who bought the phone for her was concerned about her keeping up her end of the bargain in paying the monthly bills. I really thought she’d learned her lesson and she’d at least be faithful in paying the bills for a while, anyway. Now she falters on the first month and she doesn’t seem to “get it.” I feel embarrassed because I told him she’d pay the bills. Argh! Honestly, I can’t understand what’s wrong with her. I believe her faith is sincere but she just is so disconnected from her own behavior and conscience. I’m just at a loss …
The man will be hurt and angry and he deserves to be both, considering. I feel like I even owe him an apology for assuring him she’d pay the bills, at least for a while.
I know. And I’ve been laying a guilt trip on her in texts this morning. She said she sent the man a long email apologizing. I said that’s fine, but what about change going forward? He really went out on a limb for her in buying her that phone. And to think i told him, yeah, she’ll pay the bills (thinking to myself, well, she’ll falter at some point, but certainly not for a while after having been without a phone for 3 months).
I was wrong again. And now he paid the price, not me, and that somehow makes me angrier.
Happy 4th of July to all. It is quiet here at home since Art went in to work. He promised to have someone’s return done by tomorrow. Of course with my brother doing part-time retail, he is working in appliance sales today. So Miss Bosley and I are enjoying our time to get things done around the house. I have watermelon and burgers for later. Actually, I hear Art’s car in the carport right now.
I’ve listened to and studied many American composers over the years, but Aaron Copland is probably the most versatile and the one that set an American accent to the classical genre. Beneath this performance of Copland’s suite from the ballet Rodeo, someone commented “If America was a movie, Copland wrote the score.” That sums it up perfectly:
Art is napping on the bed, Miss Bosley is napping on the couch, and I am still trying to get some things accomplished around the house. Earlier I went through some DVDs to see what we can donate. I found only five that Art can part with, and two of those are Batman movies that we had duplicates of in a three pack set. Since I get movies a lot from the library, we hardly ever watch what we own. I would get rid of more, but in marriage there is always compromise…DVDs are a little thing in the grand scheme.
Tearing down some cardboard boxes and discarding junk mail around here today. The good thing about my house right now is that virtually everywhere I look there’s something that needs to be done. 🙂
Birds are extremely territorial here today. Well, I don’t know about the white birds, but the blue ones and red ones are.
Mr. Cardinal has been flying back and forth across our yard repeatedly, leaving me to suspect he has a new nest in the apple orchard next door. At one point another male foolishly landed on the wire fairly near him, and I guess some words must have been exchanged because the intruder left in a hurry though the resident hadn’t attacked. (He was sitting very close, though, just a yard or two away, and must have threatened.)
Later I saw two bluebirds chasing each other near the ground, then one beating up the other on the ground, and then the loser flying very quickly away while the winner pursused him, persumably hurling insults all the way. One hopes the victor is the same bird that established the territory, and I think generally the resident bird does have quite an edge in such disputes, but the bluebird one didn’t look all sweet and pretty and greeting-cardish.
Our turkey burgers were good. Unfortunately the watermelon was rotten. I had a grapefruit instead. I told Art at least it was pink, but it sure was big for a sour grape. It has been sprinkling with thunder in the distance. Pizza and rain sounds good to me. A rainy night in Georgia.
Make It Man, if you mean how to get pictures posted for the header photo, you send those to AJ. If you mean the people who post something on Facebook and then embed that in the body of their post on here, I have no idea. If you mean something else, then you probably should clarify.
Some of our phones/mobile devices have options for little symbol pics like the flags.
Well, the fireworks are starting up here now that it’s (barely) dark. The professional show at the beach won’t start until 9 p.m., another 40 minutes from now. Cowboy’s at my feet, as usual. I may give him some benadryl.
Got some more work done in the house & made it to the dog park. I picked up some watermelon and other cut fruit at the grocery store, craving fruit today.
Yeah, I have a question…
Where is everyone?
Hopefully you’re with family and friends celebrating Independence Day.

I found this last night but waited to post it till this morning to be sure people get a chance to see it–especially if you like Spiderman.
This is a pretty hilarious Starbucks practical joke (they do bleep out a few words of people’s reactions): http://rare.us/rare-humor/spider-man-drops-from-the-ceiling-of-a-starbucks-in-this-prank-by-sony-and-customers-reactions-are-hilarious/

Burgers and watermelon — that sounds very good. 🙂
We’re getting an unusual spate of humidity this week. We really don’t like humidity here in the west.

Beef. 🙂 That’s what I can’t help thinking of now in the last part of Rodeo. (It was used in a beef commercial a few years ago).
Great music. Thanks for sharing it. Makes me feel optimistic about my country again.

We’re having rain and pizza here. Maybe the rain will hold off until we get the fireworks… Then maybe it’ll feel like the 4th was celebrated.
