Prayer Requests 6-16-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Psalm 104:1-15

1 Praise the Lord, my soul.

Lord my God, you are very great;
    you are clothed with splendor and majesty.

2 The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment;
    he stretches out the heavens like a tent
3     and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot
    and rides on the wings of the wind.
4 He makes winds his messengers,
    flames of fire his servants.

5 He set the earth on its foundations;
    it can never be moved.
6 You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment;
    the waters stood above the mountains.
7 But at your rebuke the waters fled,
    at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;
8 they flowed over the mountains,
    they went down into the valleys,
    to the place you assigned for them.
9 You set a boundary they cannot cross;
    never again will they cover the earth.

10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
    it flows between the mountains.
11 They give water to all the beasts of the field;
    the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 The birds of the sky nest by the waters;
    they sing among the branches.
13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;
    the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,
    and plants for people to cultivate—
    bringing forth food from the earth:
15 wine that gladdens human hearts,
    oil to make their faces shine,
    and bread that sustains their hearts.

  2. This perhaps doesn’t belong here on the prayer thread, but it is where the conversation took place, so I’ll put it here.

    I don’t know what I was thinking when I was talking about putting Nightingale’s name on the loan. Perhaps I was thinking of it like a mortgage? All I can say is that we’ve been thinking & talking about some different ideas lately, & I guess my thinking wires got crossed. :-/

  4. I do agree with those who suggested you consult a lawyer or tax specialist about ramifications, Karen, of whatever you are doing. I echo those who have said that much can change even in a short period of time. Assuming Chickadee will be able to have access to your home is not something that you really can do with promises. I know how quickly somethings changed for my parents. We are struggling with some of these same issues and it is difficult to know what is best. Prayers for wisdom for you all.

Numerous counties in our area, including ours and the county where the musical I want to attend is being held, are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 7:00 pm, about a half hour from now, and a severe thunderstorm watch continuing until 10:00 pm. I really want to go to the performance, since my students are playing in it, and had planned to leave around 7:00, but am having second thoughts about going at all. Wisdom. And prayers for safety for everyone around these areas. Our area (15-mile radius) has had three tornado warnings issued in just the last four weeks or so. Unusual for us, that frequency of severe weather activity. The most recent tornado warning was earlier this week, when there had not even been a tornado watch in effect. Lots of tree damage, some structural damage, but no injuries.
