Prayer Requests 6-2-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.”

  1. My friend Bob died this morning. His wife–my best friend–just called me. Yesterday they thought he would be discharged from the hospital with the knowledge that he would come home on hospice. He started bleeding again and they put him back in ICU. The hospital called her at 4:30 this morning to tell her she needed to come in, by the time she got there he was gone. I don’t know what to say or do.
    I have a busy morning that I can’t reschedule, but I told her I would be back from Pensacola after lunch and would do whatever needed to be done. I offered to go to the funeral home with her but her dad is going.

  3. Prayer for husband as he has a cough that is not going away. May be pneumonia, may be bronchitis but it appears to be affecting him quite a bit, and his thinking. Not good for a truck driver. Again, he is thinking this part of his life is done. Thanks.

  4. Mumsee, he needs to be checked immediately. I worked for a doctor who got pneumonia and he could barely tell me where he lived as I drove him home (I couldn’t get a hold of his wife). It was pretty scary. She called me back just after I dropped him off and I told her to get home NOW!

  5. He did not cough at all on the phone this morning. He is headed to Boise where his sister and our daughter will look out for him for the weekend before he heads to Washington with the load. And his mind seemed much clearer. I don’t like him driving with all of the meds he is on and the odd hours, sometimes all night, sometimes all day. But he needs to feel productive and I understand that.

  6. It’s difficult Mumsee.
    It makes a difference to a man when a man thinks/realizes that part of his life is over.
    It’s difficult to explain because it isn’t entirely true. But:
    When a man stops being a man, there isn’t much else to be.
    A man needs to be important to someone.

  7. I reminded him that when he retired from the military, the job as technology coordinator opened up and he did great things. Then the Olympics were great. And South Africa and more Olympics and pan American Games, and then truck driving. He keeps getting blessed way beyond normal and he knows it. Well, I expect God can continue to do that in some way or another. He does not find us useless as long as we are here. But I understand him not hearing that, he will but I won’t repeat it.
