It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.
Anyone else?
Psalm 77
1 I cried out to God for help;
I cried out to God to hear me.
2 When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
at night I stretched out untiring hands,
and I would not be comforted.
3 I remembered you, God, and I groaned;
I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
4 You kept my eyes from closing;
I was too troubled to speak.
5 I thought about the former days,
the years of long ago;
6 I remembered my songs in the night.
My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
7 “Will the Lord reject forever?
Will he never show his favor again?
8 Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
Has his promise failed for all time?
9 Has God forgotten to be merciful?
Has he in anger withheld his compassion?”
10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal:
the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will consider all your works
and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”
13 Your ways, God, are holy.
What god is as great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.
15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
16 The waters saw you, God,
the waters saw you and writhed;
the very depths were convulsed.
17 The clouds poured down water,
the heavens resounded with thunder;
your arrows flashed back and forth.
18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world;
the earth trembled and quaked.
19 Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.
20 You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
Wisdom. Patience. Thanks.

I’ve done some networking this week and people at Carol’s home church have stepped up to become more involved with her, visiting her already this week. Yay. I am in touch with them to provide some background and context (along with a bit of caution) regarding her current situation and plight.
Pray that this all works out to the benefit of all concerned and that I can provide helpful information without betraying Carol. I want to be discreet but I also want new helpers to know some of the reasons she’s wound up in the place she has.
One of the men I talked to this morning has offered to replace her cell phone (he’s taking her to the carrier office on Tuesday) and also will be picking her up for church (her home church is quite a distance away) on the Sunday after her birthday in early June as that also is communion Sunday. We agreed that the best solution would be if they can unlock and get her current phone back up and working (though Carol will want a new one). If they can’t do that, the man said he’ll go ahead and buy her a new one, he just wanted to make sure she’d be responsible to handle the monthly payments (which she usually is and I told him if she can’t that’s still her responsibility, no one else’s). He just wants to make sure if he buys her a phone that it won’t be “gone” one way or another in short order, which is understandable.

When you pray for wisdom, you can find out somebody has been stealing from the family. Again.

Oh, Mumsee. So sorry that has happened.
DJ, It sounds so good to hear that you will have help with Carol. I do think you are right in telling them to be careful about what they do for her.

More is unfolding about job opportunity Number 1. Please pray that right decisions are made all around. It is starting to sound like there is more opportunity for me than we first thought. I am ever so hopeful.

Prayers for you, Mumsee, as you soldier on.
DJ, glad others are also now stepping in to help with Carol. Praying for you as you contemplate how much and what kind of information to supply others with regarding her circumstances. It can certainly be a tricky balance, knowing how much to reveal.
Kim, I’m really hoping for you. Lord, bring a good job opportunity to fruition.
One last request for the concert tonight, if I may. My practice yesterday went quite well — the adjustment to the piano was easier this time, since it’s been less than a month since I last played on it. However, I have some nervous energy to blow off this afternoon, but I can’t tell if it’s performance nerves or just excess energy from all the wild weather yesterday. My mind keeps going back to all the what-ifs in the way things unfolded yesterday afternoon and evening. Prayers for focus where it’s needed, and for being mindful of doing all to the glory of God. Thanks a bunch.

By the way, my mouth pain is a good deal diminished today. Yesterday was my first day off the ibuprofen (due to stomach upset), and there were a couple of pretty painful episodes where I toughed it out without pain killers, but overall, I can tell there’s improvement. Today it’s feeling more like the garden-variety soreness I’d experienced the first couple days last week, before things really escalated. So glad at the decreasing frequency and intensity of pain now, and am very grateful for your prayers through this.

I have no idea why I am all bent out of shape over this. So the boy stole food from the stores (hundreds of dollars worth, and does not come home in time for meals or eat the meals he is offered). My children steal, lie, and have inappropriate relations with one another. At least when they first arrived, but this has been nearly six years….But, as I was telling husband, if this is our biggest problem, we are getting off easy. But it sure is frustrating.

I just received a call from my little sister…Mom was moved to rehab yesterday and I spoke with her this morning and she sounded tired but determined. Tonight her heart rate was elevated to the point that they have moved her to the hospital floor instead of rehab floor…they are concerned that they have not been able to get her to stabilize. Prayers appreciated ❤

Concert went great — thanks for praying.
The usual pain is back — tooth, gum, jaw, cheek, ear. And not even in the tooth that had the work done, but one near the end of the nerve that is acting up. Cold drinks = bad. And lying down increases the pain more. Calling the dentist back tomorrow morning. Sigh. Getting sick of this.

Hope you get that resolved, Six.

Thanks, Kathaleena. I hope so, too.
NancyJill, praying for your mom. Any news on how she’s doing this morning?
Continued prayers, Mumsee. Frustrating indeed.
I, too, thought of Kevin a day or two ago. Hope all is going well with recovery.
