Prayer Requests 4-22-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 48

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
    in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

Beautiful in its loftiness,
    the joy of the whole earth,
like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion,
    the city of the Great King.
God is in her citadels;
    he has shown himself to be her fortress.

When the kings joined forces,
    when they advanced together,
they saw her and were astounded;
    they fled in terror.
Trembling seized them there,
    pain like that of a woman in labor.
You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish
    shattered by an east wind.

As we have heard,
    so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
    in the city of our God:
God makes her secure
    forever.

Within your temple, O God,
    we meditate on your unfailing love.
10 Like your name, O God,
    your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
    your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
    the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
    count her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
    view her citadels,
that you may tell of them
    to the next generation.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
    he will be our guide even to the end.

  1. Thank you to RKessler and anyone else who saw my prayer request late on yesterday’s thread and prayed. I slept well, woke up refreshed, and later decided it would be a good time to have that tough conversation I mentioned in my request last night.

    The conversation was a spectacular fail. Please continue to pray. There is stress on multiple levels. This is not how I want life to be. Thank you for your prayers.

  2. “This is not how I want life to be.” I have said something very similar recently. 😦

    Praying for God to move by His Spirit in all our families, & in the various intertwined relationships, & in these situations that cause us such stress & pain.

  3. Last night, as my mother updated me on the events of her day, I realized that her role of caregiver did not end when the wife of the couple entered the nursing home. The husband of the couple has been seriously ill, whether with a virus or other infection, or simply due to the progressing cancer, we aren’t sure at this point (test results take time). However, my mother spent most of the day with him in the emergency department. He was being taken care of, but he required IV treatment, which takes a while. My father isn’t a good caregiver (his inability in that area is one of the things that makes me wonder if he has undiagnosed Asperger’s), and tends to go off and leave people whom he delivers to emergency rooms (I’ve experienced his absent-minded desertion a couple of times), so my mother felt it was incumbent upon her to go this time. She said the attending nurse was practically run off her feet, so my mother filled the gaps that arose. She gets like a mother hen, clucking anxiously over the ailing chick, so I told her that there was a limit to what she could or should do. If this illness is due to the cancer, he has not got much time.

  4. A three year old boy was found dead in his home here in our town this morning. No details yet on how he died, police are investigating. Prayers for the family, please.

  5. 6, you were on my mind yesterday, all day. I know the times are difficult, so know that you are bathed in prayer, whether you are requesting it or not.

    Kim, the same is true for you. I would also add to Mumsee’s comment on the parent of the prodigal son. Nowhere is there any condemnation for the parent, or hint that if he were a better father, his son would not have gone astray.

    Nancyjill, praying that you have strength and encouragement to make it through the visit to your mother. It will make you savor the peace in your own home.

    Kizzie, praying that there will be harmony in your home, and open communication.

    KI, prayers for your daughter and her upcoming blessing.

    Mumsee, prayers for 15 year old, and decisions about Mike’s trucking and health.

    I do pray for each of you that are part of this blog. I thank you for the prayers sent my way, also.

  6. How I cherish each and every one of you dear ones….you are covered in prayer and thus His care…
    I spent the most sweet and precious time today with my sister in law and my precious niece…the mother of Arabella….Angie brought her photo albums with oh so many sweet photos of her precious baby girl…sis in law later informed me that no one…no one has been allowed to view the albums…my heart is full with joy upon seeing this precious baby girl as she was being loved on for her cherished 8 days here on this earth. Hugs were deep and long…tears were healing. Angie is continuing to hurt and confusing thoughts flood in at times…the whys and what do I do nows fill her heart much of the time. Yet, this precious young lady is seeking Him in all her ways…praying she remains strong in her focus as her roots grow deeper in her relationship with our precious Saviour…..it is well…with Him…thank you so much for covering me in your prayers…His presence is a sweet fragrance and healing balm… ❤

  7. Nancy Jill, a nephew of mine had a stillbirth a year ago (I don’t remember if it was an actual stillbirth or if the babe lived a few minutes); they knew they were going to lose her, but it was their first child and so hard. (They just had another a month ago.) I was tempted to ask if there were any photos, as I wanted to see her, and I thought it might mean something to have me ask . . . but I don’t really know my nephew’s wife at all (I only met her once or twice) and it seemed likely to feel intrusive, so I didn’t ask. (That brother doesn’t really keep me up to date on his family; I didn’t know about his first grandson till after the baby was born.)

  8. Thank you, everyone. I so appreciate the prayers and kind words. And the concert was very nice tonight — a lot of wonderful music, and such a supportive audience, so thank you for your prayers on that, as well.

    Kare, if you see this, tonight one of my pieces was the one I composed that your picture of the mountains in Alberta inspired for me. (That’s the music I sent you, although I’ve revised the piece a little since then, and gave it a slightly different title than I think the name on the copy you have. It’s called “Majestic Mountain, Placid Stream” now, rather than the original “…Meandering Stream.”) I got more comments on that piece than any of the others I played, so thank you for sending that picture to AJ and inspiring me in the process. 🙂

    Oh, and I met the mom of my potential new student tonight, and we’ll all be sitting down together on Tuesday to discuss piano lessons, which will begin the first week of May! And my friend the concert organizer told me tonight she’s thinking she should take composition lessons from me. I don’t know if she was saying that to be nice, or if she really intends to do that, but I think that would be pretty cool. 😉

  9. Last night’s report sounded like the husband of the couple is doing a little better.

    A new prayer request – the mood of the city church when I went this morning was decidedly subdued. I suspected what might be the problem, and it was confirmed by an announcement as the service started. The senior pastor’s wife has been being treated for cancer, and the doctors told her this week that there was nothing more they could do. She has at the most a couple of months. This pastor and his wife are greatly beloved, and with good reason. I’m a relative newcomer, and they both have been unfailingly warm and friendly whenever I encounter them. This is a blow to the entire church.

  10. Roscuro, our church just went through the loss of a pastor’s wife . . . sort of. The pastor actually retired about a year or so before his wife died, but they had been here quite a few years and were very much “ours.” It’s a hard loss.
