Prayer Requests 3-1-17

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

Anyone else?

Psalm 1

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

  1. Amen and amen.

Prayers for wisdom for hubby and me, regarding whether to send 5th Arrow to school. I feel like my heart is getting torn out, but if it is what is best for son, then public school is probably the route we need to go with him.

  2. Carol’s going through a bout of paranoia right now, convinced all of her “accounts” (which are depleted by her anyhow) along with her phone are being hacked and her identity has been stolen. She’s supposed to get out of the convalescent place on Sunday, I believe.

Pray for peace of mind and body.

  3. DJ, I am very familiar with paranoia and how difficult it can be for the person and those around him or her. I recently heard of a nursing home that had a thief who stole from most of the residents. I could well imagine how many were told it was their dementia that made them think someone actually stole from them. Not so and eventually through a sting the perpetrator (an employee) was caught.

  4. She ordered a study Bible to be delivered there and it hasn’t shown up though it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I told her to check the tracking on it and contact UPS, double check with the front desk. Probably not a good idea to order things when you’re in one of those places; her regular residence would have been safer, at least she knows the people and administrators there. Anyway, that could be something that is truly amiss.

But she’s also become suspicious of things like time-stamps on when she receives text messages on her phone (there was a lag on one of my messages last night). She’s convinced her phone is being tapped into, thinks someone stole $100 out of her account, etc.

Said she feels like she’s being “gas-lighted” by the people who are running that place — I didn’t know what that meant, but looked it up:

“manipulate (someone) by psychological means into questioning their own sanity”

The term “gaslighting” comes a film in which a husband attempts to convince his wife she is going insane. If you’ve never seen the film (there are two actually), it’s an excellent idea to see it. It not only explains gaslighting well but is a remarkable piece of film making and film making history.

Gaslighting is now recognized as psychological abuse whereby a perpetrator manipulates a victim into doubting his or her own sanity or reality.

It’s not usually LITERALLY believing that you are going insane but rather doubting your version of reality. You do feel confused a lot of the time and have a lot of self-doubt. …

  6. Hill lost her luggage while flying to a missionary training in Portugal last week. It never showed up in five days and she’s now back in Sicily.

Unfortunately, she had packed her beautiful SLR camera in her luggage for the first time and is pretty upset. She is, as noted on the daily thread, currently participating in a prayer teaching . . .

Thanks. Gorgeous weather in NorCal, so we’re thankful.

  7. I was the only person who did not get the family photo book that my cousin made out of a family reunion. He sent out 66. Three did not make it to their destinations right away. I believe the other two had changed addresses and they eventually got them. Since he did not have them tracked, I could not find out where it ended up. I asked at our PO twice. We, actually, have our mail delivered to another PO first and they were also asked. I was glad one of my daughters had ordered one, as well, and got hers. 😦
