Prayer Requests 12-26-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 89:1-8

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
    through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant,
‘I will establish your line forever
and make your throne firm through all generations.’”

The heavens praise your wonders, Lord,
your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared;
he is more awesome than all who surround him.
Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?
You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.

  1. Update on the new grandbabies: Both are still in NICU in Colorado and Nevada. Andy is stable and gaining strength. Feeding tires the little fella out, but he’s progressing well. Parents are adjusting well too.

Abigail is also stabilizing, though her condition is much more precarious. Her weight (less than 3lbs) is an issue and she’s getting her feeding intraveneously. Being a twin complicated her situation. She had 3 blood transfusions because of the death of her sister in utero. She was also on antibiotics for several days, but her blood culture is clear now. They have done one brain scan so far, and it was normal. Her GI tract is beginning to function, and they have her oxygen on the minimum setting. These are all good signs. Very good signs. Parents are more hopeful.

I am so thankful for the kindness and mercy of our God. Please continue to remember these vulnerable ones (and their moms and dads) when you pray.

  2. Michelle, Andy is about 10 days old and Abigail was born a few days later. Andy was due Jan. 17, and Abigail was due March 3. Abigail was going to be small anyway because of the twin.

  3. I’m taking my EMT to the airport soon and on the way back stopping to visit with an old friend from junior high who lives in Berkeley. Normally a reasonable person ruled by logic despite her years as an editor (she started in the dark ages at Mother Jones) my dear friend has been unhinged in an odd way by the election.

Even her Christmas card mentioned it this year, which is highly unusual.

So prayers the Holy Spirit controls my mouth with her– and really all week as my entire family interacts with non-believing family members.

All year I’ve been struck by how our walk through life should be that of the moon– reflecting the glory of the Son without comment.

Frustrating though it is to not say much, I need to be listening to all these people I love with God’s ears, not mine.

  4. Debra, I missed the details in all of the Christmas busyness, but have been praying. Thank you for keeping us up to date. Please continue to share their progress.

My friend Leslie is back in the hospital.

Michelle, I am still amazed at the way people are continuing to act over this election. I have two friends (or perhaps I should start referring to them as former friends) who haven’t spoken to me or interacted with me in any way since the election. They don’t know who I voted for but are upset with me because I wouldn’t vote for Hillary and she lost.

  5. “Normally a reasonable person ruled by logic despite her years as an editor . . .”

A multitude of responses comes to mind for that one. 🙂 (Twenty-three years and counting as an editor here, twenty-six if you count my college years editing the yearbook.)

  6. From a FB friend (who apparently missed the “diversity is a good thing” message?):

DONT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS…

  7. Praying, Kare.

Thankful to hear the update on the grandbabies, Debra. Prayers for continued strengthening for both of them.

Christmas celebrations went well. No major problems with road conditions, and 1st and 2nd Arrows have gotten back to their apartments safely tonight.

Also, our coughs and colds are getting better, and we were all well enough to get together.

Last, family relationships were fine — a great blessing. 2nd Arrow’s news (see daily thread — she got engaged on Christmas Eve) put a smile on everyone’s face at the extended family gathering on the 25th. 🙂

Thank you so much for your prayers for all these things.
